"I've already ordered for you guys, just take it from this girl." He paused and pointed at the person in the counter. I can imagine how awkward that would be for the unlucky girl. He looked back at us again. "That hobbit loves her Oreo McFlurry, so don't snatch it." He said and went back inside his car.
My mouth involuntarily curved into a smile. It's really cute when boys remember the little things about you.
"What's up with you?" Will happened to notice my goofy smile. I straightened my smile into a straight line, and tried to pull off a poker face, while imagining Sevyr as an inspiration.
"Nothing." I did an awkward cough, and tried to calm my hormones. "Just excited to eat my Oreos."
"Okay... then." He simply said and shrugged.
Will stopped in front of the unlucky girl and took out the already paid take-outs. "Thank you." He said and smiled. I had a glance of the girl in the counter, and her face was so red, it's almost the same color as the one leaking out of my body, my red tide. I suppressed a laugh. Will really does have an effect to humans with fallopian tubes.
After he closed the window he placed the bag on my lap. "Pick first." He smiled. Will definitely is a true gentleman, a trait that Tristan lacks. But if Tristan does have it, I guess he'd also become a ladies man. I like nerd as he is, cold but nice.
I took out the usual, cheeseburger and McFlurry, which leaves Will with a quarter pound burger and fries. And of course each of us had a glass of coke. Tristan parked at a seawall and we followed him.
The three of us got out the car and watched the ocean as we munch on our food. The weather was humid, and the wind was hot, but we didn't care. This is the only time that we're able to embrace the sea with a sunny weather, since the time we arrived in South.
I sat on the hood of Will's car, and Tristan was on his. I turned to him, when a sudden realization hit me. "Why didn't you give me a heads-up about the ritual when we were still in school?"

That question suddenly popped in my head and came out my mouth. Like that time when I fainted and they brought me to a coffee shop, instead to the hospital. I kind of have this weird logic to ask how things happened, after it happened.
Tristan shrugged. "Everything happened so fast. We couldn't afford any more time to waste, well, for you to think. We needed that first full moon, so we had to act fast."
"Meaning, I had no choice." The two nodded. I sighed, then laughed. This family is so interesting yet overwhelming.
We lost track of time as we continued to chat, and eat like snails. Until we realized we've wasted more time than we've anticipated.
In only a matter of hours the sun is about to set. So we cleaned up and took our garbage, walking towards a trash bin I saw at the far end of the seawall. It was pretty far, but I have no intentions on putting trash on my bag.
As I got there, I saw another car parked in the distance, for a second I thought we're the only ones here. My girl instincts starts to kick in, suddenly a weird feeling boiled within me and my stomach churned. I don't know if these are farts trying to get out of my anus, or my instincts trying to tell me something. That something's bad going to happen.
We got back on the road and I immediately fell asleep after a few minutes. This is probably what they call a pig's disease. It's when you fall asleep immediately after eating, a pig's habit. Did I just admitted that I'm a pig? I just violated a commandment.
Will shook my shoulder to wake me up from my dream. I scratched my eyes. "You're here." He said and paused. "Want me to walk you home?" His car won't fit the alley to my apartment, so he had to park it a few blocks away from there.
I shook my head. "Thanks but no thanks. You need to go home and rest. That was a pretty long ride." Will didn't argue on my decision. It's pretty obvious with his face on how exhausted he really is.

"You sure?" He asked again and I nodded. I then took off my seatbelt, grabbed my backpack and got out of the car.
But I realized I forgot something, so I popped my head back inside. "Thanks by the way. For trusting me about your secret world and, well, in general." I smiled and he returned the same one. Well, his is more dashing than mine.
"Be careful okay? Don't sleep while walking." He reminded me on our first meeting, when he saw me walking the streets practically snoozing. I laughed at the memory and nodded.
"No more surprise attacks too." I reminded him also at the time when he offered to walk me home and I denied it like today, but he was stubborn, so he and Tristan followed me home.
He laughed and nodded as well. I bid him goodbye and I'm off to my apartment. The road is dark and creepy as usual, even though it's still pretty early this time at night. I know the thugs won't come out of their caves yet until it's almost midnight, so I guess I'm safe, for now.
I was walking past an alley when someone tugged me towards the shadows, and covered my mouth with a handkerchief, seconds later I passed out.
When I regained my consciousness, I woke up into the backside of a car, and thank heavens I wasn't inside the trunk. I was lying sideways, and I see two figures at the front side. I can't clearly see their features because it was too dim, or I'm still in a hangover from fainting. It was then I realized that my hands were tied and my mouth was covered.
Holy shit! Am I kidnapped?
Panic starts to creep in my head, and I'm trying very hard to tame it. I can't think properly when fear is the one driving my brain. I controlled my breathing and started to count from one to ten in a rhythmic pattern. Slowly my mind starts to calm down.
Then I heard one of my kidnappers talk, it was a girl's voice. "You sure that this is the person we're looking for? She looks too young to be Victoria Hale." She said, which made me furious. Seriously being her doppelgänger had lead me nowhere but trouble.
"Yes. No. I don't know. All our leads points to her." This time it was a guy's voice, the one on the driver's seat. And straight-on I've decided there leads are nonsense, and they are stupid.
"It's not plural. We had one lead, and that was from your brother, Marvin." The girl said.
Fuck. Marvin the wine holder, is a spy?!
"We can't take her to the council without a strong proof." The girl continued to talk, her voice was full of authority. Okay, I take back what I said, this girl is not stupid, only the other guy is.
"You're right. But we can't let her go that easily. She's the biggest fish we've caught for years hunting Victoria. If we can't find another big catch, we'll might have to turn this one over. I've grown tired of chasing a ghost..." The guy said, but I kicked his chair without letting him finish his sentence. I may have learned something from the nerd after all, and it's to cut people off when they start talking nonsense.
I focused on the word hunting, and that's when I realized that this people are hunters! And this person right here, sitting on the driver's seat – that I kept on kicking – is the epitome of stupidity, and he annoys me for being one.

Well, this is the last chapter I've originally planned to upload last Saturday, but I got busy last weekend. The reason: we went to the beach to have a sayonara party for my aunt because she's going back to London.
And I've written another long chapter, well, because I've lost track of the words. Anyways, thanks for reading! See you the next Saturday ^_^
This story has ranked #556 on vampire category, and I can't explain the level of happiness I'm feeling right now. I've been twerking since the moment I've read it—well, mentally that is.

The Orb Weaver Chronicles
"The Orb Weaver Chronicles contains several major and unique events that may or may not unknowingly intertwines with one another. The author of these chronicles is unknown, although some have hinted at the symbolism behind its name..." - Year unknown, location unknown 9 February 2022 Update: Welcome to the companion short story compilation of my novel trilogy The Shadow Paradigm. This compilation features prequels, sidequels and sequels to the novel's major plotline, as well as featuring a wide range of characters, new and recurring. Prior knowledge of the novel is not necessary as the Orb Weaver Chronicles' short stories are standalone. Once called The Arkesyyan Chronicles, I've deleted quite a few of its old stories. Due to the new avenue and revision, oriented toward more mystery and film-noir ambience, that I took my stories into, I've removed all aliens and overly sci-fi aspects of the whole TSP lineup, so I've updated the Orb Weaver Chronicles accordingly. I hope you enjoy them, and in time, a revised version will also be updated.
