《The Nerd that turned out to be Vampire-ish [Wattys2015]》CHAPTER 7: A shocking invitation.

I saw Will's message the moment I opened my twitter, but instead of details of the project, he asked something that's way out of topic.
Will: Hey Princess!
Will: Can I ask for your number? If you don't mind?
Me: Yeah sure. (Insert number)
I left my laptop to take a shower, thinking he's probably not online, but when I returned, there were 3 missed calls on my phone. I guess it's Will. A smile crept on my sleepy face, but then that smile bent.
What if this belongs to a crazy stalker, and his out there on my window, or worse inside my closet about to jump on me.
I cringed at the thought but brushed it away. I need to stop watching horror movies. I sent the unknown number a message of somewhat like an apology, explaining why I wasn't able to answer. Automatically it replied with a call.
"Hey there Princess."
"That was fast." A sigh of relief escaped my mouth, but it was on silent mode. Don't want to explain to Will that seconds ago, I thought his number was of a killer.
"Well I had nothing to do. So let's start the meeting shall we?" His voice was still full of energy, even though it's pretty late.
I can imagine him smiling on the other end, and all the while showing that glistening teeth of his, outgrowing the moon's glow. That's pretty poetic of me.
So as to summarize our conversation. I asked a few not-so-random things, just to have a general idea on what to work on for their production I.D— its that thing you see before a movie, like those Pixar films where you see it's logo come to life before the movie starts, something like that.
We then came to a conclusion that it will be a simple signature of the name of their group, then followed by a man pushing the "productions" part at the bottom, after that's placed, the silhouette figure will wipe its sweat and then transform into an apostrophe.
I had no witty remarks during the whole conversation, and it was something he noticed.
"Are you always serious when it comes to work? Or are you just tired?"
"I'm drained, to be honest." I said, stiffing a yawn.
"Then you should sleep. I need you to be your usual witty self, when we meet tomorrow." His voice speaks his expression, hyper, and all throughout ball of sunshine. Is he even human?
I wasn't able to process the last part. I guess my brain's already snoring. "Waaait, what?"
"We have a study date tomorrow." He said it in his usual energetic tone, opposite to mine's almost zombie like voice.
This time my brain jolted out from its nap. "Wa-waa-wait. I thought... I'm just going to give you the finished output on Monday?"

That sudden news honestly threw away my sleepy mood. And even though he said study date, my brain focused on one word only, date.
But I really don't want to go anywhere this weekend. I was planning to have a peaceful vacation with my bed. I've had a really tough week. So, I was already planning to get some much needed zzz's.
"No no. I want to see you in action Princess... and I also want to learn." I can almost imagine that shy face of his. Damn. It's really hard to say no to him. Guess my vacation's postponed till next weekend.
I was about to suggest that he could just watch YouTube tutorials, like what I'd do when I don't understand our lessons, or was simply not paying attention in class.
"I guess you forgot the if-you-don't-mind part." I said, and we both laughed. "Fine. Where will we meet?"
"In Fullybooked. I'll see you there." This bookstore is located in a mall. And it's pretty good timing, since I was planning on getting the book I ordered there.
"What time?"
"When the mall opens." 10am? Holy shit. I'll pray hard I won't oversleep tomorrow. My body's time clock is pretty much used to waking up later than noon on weekends. Good luck to me.
"Okay." I said, almost on the verge of hesitating. "I should probably get some sleep now."
"Goodnight Princess. Thanks a lot!"
"Goodnight and no problem...Glitter." He laughed at his own nickname. Get used to it Prince of Glitters.
Because I'm not going to class, and on a date, I tried not to be late. Emphasis on the tried, because well, I'm 10 minutes late, and I'm hoping Will didn't show up 30 minutes early.
I came running up the terraces of the mall, and onto the bookstore where we plan to meet up. I glanced around and there was no sign of Will. I don't want to text him either, because he might think I'm demanding or clingy— and I'm starting to over think.
I'll just wait.
I went to the counter and paid for the book I ordered. It was Vampire Academy's last book of the series. I went up the second floor of this bookstore, and found a coffee shop. It's small and rustic, but with a modern twist. I decided to pass time here, and ordered a large cup of hot caramel latte paired with blueberry muffin. I took a seat near the window, also with a view that's directly facing the door of the store, where I can see Will when he shows up.
But instead of Will, Tristan comes waltzing in, wearing that bored-annoyed look he seems to paste on his face. Then he saw me.

Of all people.
He didn't approach me right there and then, which made me thank the heavens, because I don't want to spoil my morning.
I started to delve myself into this book that I was itching to read for weeks. Minutes gone by and it felt like I'm inside the book. I'm not Victoria Sanchez anymore, I'm Rose Hathaway. When I read books with a one person perspective, I think of them as me, I transform into the protagonist and feel the world inside the book turn into reality. But that didn't last long, because someone snatched that world from me. Taking out my glasses, I looked at Tristan sitting in front of me, holding my book.
"Seriously?" I gave him the meanest look I can pull off, and even crossed my arms to add drama. "Give that back."
His eyes was assessing the book. "Didn't peg you to be a vampire fan." And there's that smirk.
"So what? I love the writer and the protagonist's character. Also the concept of it all..." I wasn't done talking when he interrupted me, well, knowing Tristan this is not shocking anymore. He's very impatient.
"I didn't ask for a whole speech." He puts the book down in the table with a loud thud, he then laid back on the chair, and crossed his long legs. "All of that. Is nonsense."
"Duh. It's fantasy for a reason." I can't help but roll my eyes.
"So. You waiting for a date?" Maybe my weird expression gave me away and made him laugh. My brows were actually knitting each other. I won't be shocked if it turns into a unibrow anytime soon.
"Calm down woman. It's just... you look nice." Okay. I don't know what's more shocking. Him reading my thoughts, or complementing me.
I blinked tons of times. Thinking what's nice about a simple white loose shirt, tattered blue jeans, and black vans? My jet black hair was tied into a simple ponytail, though nicely curled in the end. Then I remembered I did my make-up, the reason why I'm late, tho it's pretty light, almost nonexistent.
"Is that a joke or a compliment?"
"I said it as it is." He sips his drink casually and put on his earphones. Wait. Don't tell me he's chilling here?!
"Wait you're staying?"
"Yeah. Is there a problem?"
"Uhm. History check. We..." I paused and pointed my finger repeatedly to each of us. "...don't like each other. We CAN'T sit on the same table, and actually look like friends hanging out."
"We just did. If I walk out now. They'll think I just broke up with you."
Okay, that seriously made me speechless.
"So. If I'm the one who walks out..."
"Don't even think about it." His voice was ice cold, and weirdly has authority into it.
It took me a few seconds to realize that I have no choice. "Fine. Just don't disturb me."
"Same here."
We stayed silent for hours, it was actually a miracle that it lasted this long without us being on each other's throats.
"Where the fuck is that guy." My thoughts came out my mouth.
"Who?" He actually heard me, even with his loud music. I looked at him. Thinking, what's there to hide? Will's his friend, so he probably knows where he is.
"Will." I put up a hand. "Wait! Before you say anything else. We are NOT on a date. He needs my help on some project of his. That's why we're meeting." Why am I so defensive on the not-a-date part? When last night I considered this as one.
"Again I don't need a speech." He paused and sighed. It was also a miracle he didn't cut me off like last time. "He seems pretty late."
"Obviously. You have any idea where he is?" He simply shrugged. "Come on. Any theories?" I pushed him. If this nerd's impatient, then so am I.
He sighed again. "Last night's a Friday. He's obviously out all night." His eyes drifted to the view outside and shook his head, like his contemplating with something. He looked right at me. "He won't be coming."
"Maybe he's just running late." I hoped and he sighed. This time he takes off his earphones and stood up.
"Come home with me."
"WHAAAAT?!" My voice was probably heard throughout the whole store. I earned a couple of nasty stares and a lot of ssssshs.
He run a hand though his hair, probably not comfortable with the attention were getting. He went to my side and took my backpack, then lowered himself, so that his face is eye level to mine. The closeness is pretty awkward, definitely way pass my comfort zone, but he didn't even seem bothered by it.
"We'll wait for him there." He simply said, and stared at me, waiting for an answer.
I can smell his breath, mocha, probably the coffee he was drinking. His face was too close, only a few inches away from mine. I coughed and pushed my chair back, well, it was an awkward cough, not a real one.
"O-ookay." I barely got that word out my mouth.
My brain had stopped functioning, for it was overrun by my rapid heartbeat. I felt like a robot as I followed him out.

Divine Creatures
Kestra, a [Combat Alchemist] and [Woods Wraith Hunter], is excited to finally receive her third class. But when she attempts to do so, she instead receives a tribulation from the God of Trials, loses her classes, and is informed by the voice of the world that she's been selected to transmigrate with only three days to go. She tries her damnedest to prepare, but even the Elements are different in this new realm. A relatively staid adjustment period is completely abandoned though as she finds that, most distressingly, hundreds of transmigrators have appeared recently with dozens enslaved by the local city lord. Fine! She may have lost her classes and the magic is funky, but she'll be damned if she doesn't have a few true-blue skills up her sleeves. [synopsis re-write by luda305] A light hearted romp where the protag transmigrator *isn't* from Earth. The main story takes place on more of a western xianxia world. Note: profanity tag is because of side characters, and sexual context tag is for some risqué elements before fade-to-black scene. Book 1 is written and scheduled for release a chapter a day till 9/26 (24 chapters total) Book 2 will be added after it is all written. Updated to add fanfic tag because when I picked up the latest Ten Realms I realized that series has had a lot more influence on the setting than I consciously realized. Don't expect military or industrial revolution in xianxia, though.

Rune
In the world of Rune, there are two kinds of Players. The Crafters, and the Fighters. Fighters level their magic power, fueling the runic items from their own bodies, while crafters use the runes they bring back to develop powerful items using their knowledge of the electronic-like system. Not everything stays that simple, though, and Rune is no exception. Within each region, a number of guilds have sprung up, operating as the unaccountable vanguard of defense for the besieged cities. They don't care to deal fairly, and nobody else has the power to do much about it. (Harem is tagged but it's honestly polyamory. I hate the word harem but given that some people would interpret it as such, in it goes.)
