《A Wolf, A Hybrid and A Vampire- Klaus Mikaelson》Chapter 12

'There has to be more to this dress.' Bekah shouted from the changing room. Nik, Stef and I were lounging around while she tried on clothes. The boys were drinking champagne but I had never had a taste for it so I had politely declined.
'There's not.' Nik calls back before taking a sip from his glass. He had his arm thrown around my shoulder where we were sitting on the couch. Rebekah walks out in a dress that leaves little to the imagination.
'So women in the twenty-first century dress like prostitutes then.' She states and I raise my hand from where it had previously been on my sketchbook where I was drawing a sleeping Nik, from when I woke up this morning.
'Not all of us do.' I point out. 'Though I will admit, more than I would like do and frankly it is an insult to our gender.' I pass my sketchbook to Nik and rise from my seat, sticking my pencil through the bun a top my head for safekeeping. 'Here, I'll help you find some better clothes.' I head over to the racks and browse through the options, picking out a few pairs of jeans and some shirts, along with some dresses that would look good on her and still preserve some of her modesty.
'You know I got dirty looks for wearing trousers.' Bekah states.
'And you did it anyway, on behalf of our clueless gender Bekah, I thank you.' I tell her as I pass the clothes to her.
She looks to her brother. 'I like her Nik, can we keep her?' I grin at her comment as she disappears through the back once again.
'You wore trousers so women today could wear nothing.' He calls to her retreating figure. 'And it is my intention to keep the Little Wolf around for as long as I can.' He says as he turns his eyes to me.
'Hey, if I leave, I won't get to make sure you wake up Lijah, my favourite Mikaelson.' This comment got a glare from Nik and an indignant shout of 'Hey!' from Bekah. 'Kidding, kidding. I haven't met the whole family yet so I can't possibly have a favourite yet. Who knows perhaps I shall become best friends with Kol or Finn.' I continue to which Nik continues to glare while Stefan laughs in amusement.

'You wouldn't like them.' Nik states. 'Kol is an annoyance and Finn is a bore.'
'Or, Kol is the younger brother trying to get attention from his elder brothers who seem much closer to each other than to him and Finn is someone who struggles with his nature, lost his closest sibling, and was stuck in a box for nine hundred years.' He looks at me with wide eyes. 'If you are misunderstood then what's to say that the same isn't true of your siblings?'
'She understands us better than we understand each other Nik.' Bekah spoke up from behind me and I turned to see that she was in a pair of black jeans with an oversized jumper on top and looked amazing in it, much better than her previous dress. 'She stays, I'd like a sister. Now, sister, lets find you a dress.' She took me by the arm as I threw Nik a wide eyed look over my shoulder. He simply shrugged and turned his attention to my sketchbook instead.
'Bekah, I don't need a dress.' I tried to tell her but she insisted.
But when I saw the dress I stopped fighting immediately. It was black with lace, the slip reached my mid thigh but it had a lace layer on top that fell to the floor. It had long sleeves made of the same lace and it showed only a little cleavage, with beads across the chest and stomach of the sheer lace. A section of black silk wrapped around the stomach of the dress with a section flowing down the left side and another at the back. It was incredible and I had to try it on.
When I looked in the mirror I was blown away at how the dress hugged my every curve and still managed to look modest in a way at the same time.
'Bekah.' I called out and she made her way in, looking at me in awe once she saw the dress.
'Oh my, Jay... You look incredible. You have to get that dress, I am getting you that dress. Nik won't be able to look away once he sees you in that, come on let's show him.' She said, reaching for my hand.

'Wait Bekah. Let's not show Nik, not yet. Can we save it for a special occasion? Like a party or something.' I suggest instead.
'That's actually a much better idea. Okay take a picture and then off with it, I'll get it for you and you can save it for later.' I nod and take a quick picture in the mirror of the dress before taking it off carefully and handing it to Bekah who left while I got back into my clothes.
When I returned to where Nik and Stefan were sitting it was to see that Nik had found a pencil from somewhere and was drawing in my sketchbook as he lay across the couch
'Didn't you think to just buy yourself a sketchbook when you bought that one for me?' I asked him as I approached.
'Well I could have but it never really occurred to me at the time.' He answered with a shrug, not looking up from what he was doing. 'So I'm not allowed to see the dress then Love?' He asks with a small smile.
'If you were listening, which I know you were, then you would know that when the correct occasion arises then you will see the dress, Nik.' I tell him. I go over to where his feet are and lift them before sitting down and placing his feet in my lap.
'And I am quite sure you will look as exquisite in at you do in everything, Little Wolf.' He says sincerely, looking up at me through his eyelashes and it causes my heartbeat to pick up speed which I know that he notices. He glances back down at the page.
'Laying it on thick or what, Nik?' Stefan questions from his seat and Nik turns to glare at him while Bekah reappears, shopping bags in hand and still manages to slap the back of his head.
'Hush up. Jay is gorgeous and Nik was just reminding her of it. Perhaps you should take notes.' She told him.
'Rebekah, you already know how gorgeous you are and you have never needed a man to tell you that, but just in case you need reminding.' He rises from his seat and takes the bags from her hands before kissing her cheek. 'You are beautiful.' He tells her.
'Wow Stef, look at you.' I comment from my seat. 'Smooth.' This causes Nik to chuckle.
'I suppose we are done here now?' He asks earning several nods. 'Excellent. Then let us make haste to Mystic Falls.' He lifts his feet from my lap and once he's on his feet he extends his hand to me, pulling me up from my seat and leading me out of the store towards the car. 'Stefan, you can drive.' He tosses him the keys and then climbs in the back with me.
'If we are going to be in this car for hours then I'm going to need my sketchbook back.' I inform him. He nods, tearing a few sheets of paper out, including the one he had been drawing on and then handed the book back over to me. I reached up and tugged my pencil out of my hair so that I could start drawing, just as an idea comes to me. 'We should draw the same thing and see who does it better.' I say to Nik he looks intrigued by the idea and after a quick discussion we settle on drawing Bekah, both of us getting to work. When we had both finished we showed each other, comparing the two. I had drawn Bekah as I had seen her when she was talking to Nik, a frustrated look on her face but love in her eyes and Nik had drawn her mid laugh, she looked happy and her eyes sparkled. Both the drawings were excellent, but I liked Nik's more because of how happy she looked in it. We agreed on skill level however that it was a tie.
We spent hours on the road, drawing in the backseat together and making quiet conversation as we travelled closer to Mystic Falls with every passing moment. Eventually though I fell asleep as I was prone to do on long car rides. This time though, the nightmares invaded my sleep once again.

Some become allies while others become wet stains on the floor. I firmly believe that villains can make for some of the most endearing characters. Monsters need not be sour and droll. Have a bit of fun - indulge in a bit of villainy.
