(A/N; This is a normal AU where UA is just an ordinary highschool. Nothing really changes beyond that, other than that the UA dorms don't exist. The students and teachers act and are the same. This has basically all the ships that were included in the intro page except for the last 3 cuz it's just class A for dis. Enjoy!)
Prologue;
only
Deku's POV
Today's the day I'll try this out! I really hope it works, but if it doesn't I'll do something else.
I've had this idea for ages thanks to Uraraka and Yaoyorozu, but I haven't had a chance to do it until now. Anyway, since Todoroki-kun doesn't talk much, and wouldn't give me his number as far as I know, I'm gonna get him to talk with paper!
It sounds dumb but here me out. I can't really think of anything that he'd be willing to talk to me about a school, so I figured that this would be best! I'm sure we'll be better friends afterwards!
Well, that's not the real reason I'm doing this.
It's not that hard to see through his window, so whenever I do look out there, I can see his dad coming into his room and hitting him, or him just limping around. It's really concerning, yet I haven't told anyone about it. But I feel like if I ask him at school, he'll shut down more or just hate me. I think of talking about it as a way to help, but I don't think he would.
It's Friday though, so I'll try my plan tomorrow. What I need to do now is head to class...
~time skip cuz I lazy~
Third Person POV
The next day came and Deku woke up extra early to see if his friend was awake. Opening the curtains,he saw Todoroki awake,and standing on his balcony. It didn't take long for him to notice,and they soon made eye contact. Embarrassed, Midoriya turned away from the window.

I shouldn't have opened the curtains that far,I knew it! he thought.
Even though he wanted to just hide away from how awkward he was,he couldn't just do that without an apology.
He hesitantly turned back and saw something he definitely didn't expect.
Todoroki was still there,sure. But he was holding a piece of paper that if Deku squinted, he could read.
'Help.'
The boy was confused at first,but then he noticed Todoroki's expression was more desperate and scared, as opposed to his normal unfazed one.
Izuku wanted to go find his paper and respond,or run over there to help or something, but of course moving wouldn't work now. The boy was in shock. Was this a joke? No, Todoroki wasn't like that,right?
What brought him back to the present was Todoroki being knocked to the ground. Deku jumped and fell back on his bed. Guilt filled his head as he shoved the blankets over his face. That punch didn't look normal. It looked like it hurt. A lot. This was no joke. And that was definitely his dad who hit him.
Midoriya wants to go help,but what could he do? He's somewhat strong, but definitely no match against Todoroki's father, who's certainly much stronger and harsher than Deku himself. Sure,he'd been bullied by Bakugo in middle school,but as far as he could tell, those hits from his friend were definitely not worse.
It was almost like he could feel the pain his friend was going through. Almost. This was definitely more emotional that what was happening to Shoto, but Izuku's heart hurt just the same.
He'll just talk to Todoroki tomorrow. Apologize, and explain that he's not mean, not a bully, that he didn't purposefully do nothing cuz he was mean, or anything like that.

Wait.
No.
Doing that would make him a worse friend in Todoroki's eyes. He mustered up enough courage to get out of bed and put on his red shoes before racing downstairs and to the boy's house. He knocked on the door maybe a bit too harshly, before a petite girl with glasses opened it. It was Fuyumi! Todoroki had talked to her about his friend before, but she'd never seen Deku in person.
Her expression was almost like Todoroki's, but more forcefully happy.
"Oh..you must be Shoto's friend, right?" she asked. "Sorry,he can't come down now he's-"
"I saw what happened. Is Todoroki okay?" Deku interrupted. Fuyumi was about to respond when a loud thud was heard from upstairs. The two got instantly worried, but Izuku didn't want to intrude really,so he just pointed upstairs with a concerning look.
"Listen,he can't come down now, but I'll tell you when he's ready!" She said a little too quickly,and pulled the latter boy into a hug. After a few seconds, she whispered;
'don't tell anyone about this,please....'
Upon closer inspection to her arms, Deku could see bruises. Had her dad done that to her earlier? Midoriya saw that she wanted him to leave so he just slowly nodded and went back to his house.
As he closed the door to his home quietly as to not wake his mother (who just got back home from her night shift at the hospital), it clicked.
Todoroki was on the balcony because he was hiding from his dad. He had the paper in case Deku woke up and saw him. Based on how Fuyumi reacted to the thud, he was knocked out, and their dad was coming downstairs soon. Todoroki wasn't playing a joke. He was calling for help. And Izuku didn't do anything about it. But one question still couldn't be answered. Not by him at least.
Should he keep Fuyumi's promise, or break it and tell their teacher or principal? He'd have to wait until Monday to ask his friends for advice.
(I know I shouldn't leave you guys like that but I'll try and get the next part out somewhat soon but no promises, and I might make some others in the meantime. Byee!)
