《The End》Part 31: The Painting

"That's a messed up joke." Rosa said as she stood in front of Matt and Jeremy. Her arms crossed over her chest. "Now, get out of my house, Matt."
He stood forward, but stopped when Rosa raised her eyebrows. "I'm not lying. Jeremy can't be near you. That's why Elena left the other day and why she asked me to stay with him. So...you can't be here either."
Rosa looked at Matt angrily and then turned to Jeremy. "I'm sorry, Rosie." She frowned.
"Where am I supposed to go?" Matt shrugged which made Rosa roll her eyes. "I'm not asking you."
"Maybe you can go to Caroline's or something." Rosa nodded.
"Okay. Love you."
Jeremy tried to smile, "Love you."
—
Rosa called Caroline, but frowned when there was no answer. She couldn't talk to Stefan right now, not when she was still mad at him and she assumed that's where Caroline would be.
She sighed, sitting on her porch. If Jeremy really did want to kill her she really needed to get out of their. She looked down at her phone and debated fir a moment before pressing on Klaus's contact.
It barely had a chance to ring when he answered, "Hello."
"Hey, Klaus. I was wondering if I could ask a small little favor."
Klaus smiled slightly, "Whatever you need."
"A place to stay." She mumbled quietly. Klaus was thankful that she would never see the grin to took shape on his face. "It's just that, theirs this thing happening with Jeremy where he wants to kill me and Elena went to the Salvatores, but I don't really like either of them at the moment and Caroline's not answering her phone cause she's with Stefan and I can't call him cause I'm mad at him. So, I called you."
"Do you need help with your things?" Rosa smiled slightly, looking down at the ground.
She sighed, "No...thank you, though."
Rosa hung up the phone and looked around to make sure no one was watching her. Watching her make a fool of herself, blushing like crazy because of Klaus Mikaelson.
—
She stepped up to the door and took a deep breath before knocking. The door quickly opened, Klaus standing in the doorway.
He looked at her and frowned, "Where's your stuff?"
"Right here." She answered holding up and large stuffed duffel bag. "Oh, I'm sorry. Do I not own enough clothes for you?"
Klaus smirked, "No, I just assumed you would have compelled a whole store by now."
"Why? I'm not Caroline." Klaus shrugged and walked inside, Rosa following after him. "Thanks, again. I promise this is temporary."
Klaus turned around and smiled at the girl, "You don't need to make excuses. You can stay here as long as you need." Rosa nodded and took that as her cue to stop talking.

The two walked up the stairs until Klaus led her to one of the rooms along a long wall filled with doors. Rosa stepped inside and smiled. It was huge, first of all. But it was a lovely room. The walls were dark wood and the bed had a dark purple cover draped over it.
"I hope you like it. You didn't leave me much time for remodeling."
Rosa smiled, shaking her head softly, "It's perfect." She threw her duffel bag on to the floor and sat on the bed. "Thanks." Klaus nodded, his hands held behind his back.
He looked around awkwardly, "So what happened that made you mad at Stefan. I thought you two were...friends."
Rosa sighed, "He can't pull off the whole betrayal thing like you can." Klaus nodded and left the topic at that.
"Can I show you something?" He asked her.
"Sure."
Klaus opened the door for Rosa and let her step through it. He then walked to another room, carefully opening it with a key.
Rosa walked into the room and smiled softly. The room was filled with painting, beautiful ones. "Wow. And I thought I was good." She muttered under her breath.
"You like to paint?" Klaus asked, intrigued.
"A little. I'm nowhere near as good as you."
Klaus shrugged. "Maybe we could paint together sometime."
"Maybe."
Rosa walked around the room, amazed at all the paintings and drawings. She looked at a current painting, drying on the easel.
"Ah, that is for the wonderland charity event." Klaus told her, seeing as she admired that painting.
Rosa made a face, which in turn made Klaus frown. "Sorry, but you're donating to charity?" Klaus nodded. "Wow, I truly have seen everything."
"You'll never see everything, but I can try to show you as much as possible. I mean look at me, it me this long to find you."
Rosa looked down at a table covered in papers, blushing slightly. Her eyes scanned the parchment, when her eyes landed on a picture of her from the ball.
She smiled. She looked more beautiful in the drawing, than in any picture she'd taken.
"When did you do this?" She asked him.
Klaus looked over the girls shoulder to see what she was looking at and smirked. "The same night." He told her. "I had to make sure I captured all of your beauty."
Rosa turned around, forgetting Klaus was so close to her. Their faces were only inches apart. Their eyes trained on each others. "Am I turning you into a stalker?" She asked softly, a hint of tease in her voice.
Klaus shrugged, smiling slightly. Klaus stared into Rosa's eyes, "Your eyes, they must be the most gorgeous ones I have ever seen." He said.
Rosa chuckled. She had brown eyes. "Really? In all of your 1,000 years, my boring brown eyes are the most gorgeous you have ever seen?"

Klaus stared at Rosa again, making her laugh. "Yes. Definitely the most beautiful."
Suddenly Rosa leaned forward, her lips connecting to Klaus's. He paused for a moment, almost unsure if what was happening was real. It was.
Klaus placed his hand on the back of Rosa's head and the other on her arm. It was slow, passionate. This was what should have been their first kiss. Klaus knew this. He did feel horrible about kissing her that one night. But it seems he's been forgiven.
The kiss slowly broke, and Klaus smiled at Rosa's red tinted face. She looked down at the floor, her hair covering her face.
Klaus placed his hand under her chin, lifting her head to face him. "Don't be embarrassed, love." He said softly.
Rosa nodded, smiling softly. Suddenly the door opened, revealing Stefan. Rosa pulled away from Klaus and looked at him. Stefan, looked at both of them confused.
"Stefan! What a lovely surprise. What do you want?" Klaus asked, enthusiastically annoyed.
Stefan looked at Rosa who looked away, back to the painting on Klaus's desk. Turns out he's drawn more of her than she thought.
"Looks like a giant snowflake." Stefan said, focusing on the Klaus's painting.
"I prefer to think of it as an expression of postmodernism. It's my donation to the winter wonderland charity event."
Suddenly a man, who Rosa assumed to be one of Klaus's hybrids entered the room. "You said it was urgent."
"Yes, take this to the mystic grill immediately."
The man frowned. "You want me to be your delivery guy?" He asked.
Klaus walked forward towards the man. "What I want is for you to do whatever I say. Without the attitude."
Rosa rolled her eyes and looked at Stefan who was staring at her. Just by the look he was giving her, she knew that he was more than confused as to why she was here and that was a conversation she really didn't feel like having.
"Why don't I just bring it for you." Rosa said, interrupting the twos stare-off. "I have to go meet Caroline anyway." She told them.
Klaus shook his head. "Adrian here can do it. And he will escort you to where you need to be, safely." Klaus told them.
Rosa sighed and nodded at Adrian. She slowly walked out of the room, listening to Stefan and Klaus's conversation with her enhanced hearing.
"What's Rosa doing here, Klaus." She heard Stefan say with a sigh.
"She needed a place to stay, and of course I didn't refuse her."
Rosa rolled her eyes at the sentiment. "She shouldn't be here. It's not safe for her."
"I can protect her." Klaus said becoming angry.
"She needs protection from you." Stefan said.
Rosa could only imagine Klaus's face. How angry he would be. "And who better to protect her from the big bad monster than Stefan Salvatore. Night in shining armor. What happened Stefan, one twin rejected you so you move onto the next."
Rosa froze. That wasn't true. Stefan was still madly in love with Elena. They were friends.
"Rosa?" Rosa looked to see Adrian waiting for her.
"Sorry." She mumbled and followed him to his car.
On the car ride there, they were silent. But Rosa could tell every time Adrian glared at her. She knew how often he thought about biting her or just ripping out her throat. It would be so easy.
"I know you're not sired anymore." She said softly.
Adrian looked over at her but said nothing. Rosa looked out the window frowning.
"I'm sort of friends with Tyler. Best friends with Caroline. I know what's going on. I'm on your side."
Adrian scoffed. "Then what the hell are you doing with Klaus?"
Rosa frowned. "It's complicated. But I think that I could talk to him...maybe. Change his mind about hybrids." Adrian looked at the girl and decided to drop the conversation.
—
When Rosa finally got to the charity event, she saw Tyler and Caroline almost yelling at each other. But that's pretty usual.
Rosa tried to listen in, but it was hard with so much background noise. All she got was that Caroline was angry with Tyler because he volunteered to do something.
Rosa did not feel like getting in the middle of that. She walked around for a while until she made her way back to Klaus's painting.
"You must really love my art." She turned around to see Klaus standing behind her.
She shrugged. "It's okay, I guess." Klaus shook his head, chuckling slightly. "So...what did you and Stefan talk about?" She asked, deciding not to bring up what she had heard earlier.
Klaus's smile faded, "Nothing of any importance to you."
Rosa sighed, "I was thinking. Maybe I can just try live with Caroline. I don't want to bother you...or your business." Rosa told him.
"No, I want you with me. Why the sudden change?"
"I think you should lighten up on the hybrids. I was talking to Adrian and—"
"He said something to you?" Klaus asked her.
Rosa regretted it. "No, I just...I don't feel comfortable living in a place that basically has slaves. Could you please...go easy on them?" Klaus sighed.
He looked at Rosa confused. Why would she bring this up now. "Sure." He said. Rosa smiled. "So...earlier was—"
"Amazing."
Klaus nodded, a blush spreading on his face. "Yes, it was quite amazing."

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
