《The End》Part 30: A Date

"Rosa, you have to talk to me at some point." Caroline complained over the phone. "I'm really sorry, and I really need your help." She told her.

Rosa didn't answer her friend. She knew she would eventually, but she thought that she would hold out her anger a little longer.

"I'm sorry. I didn't think it would be a big deal."

"Not a big deal, Caroline, you promised him a date with me. That's like the biggest deal." Rosa opened up her closet and searched for any nice dress she might own.

Caroline frowned, "I know and I'm so sorry. But we needed him to give up one of his hybrids. Plus it will be a good chance to clear the air."

"I'll see you there, Caroline."

The blonde smiled, "Don't be late. And please wear something nice."

The girls hung up and Rosa searched her closet. She ended up choosing a light purple dress that hung above her knees. She put her hair up in a half-up half-down look and brushed it out.

"Woah, woah, woah, stop, stop!" Caroline shouted at the girls carrying the flowers. "Those flowers go in the back as indicated by the floral chart that you guys had plenty of time to memorize." She said.

Caroline looked at Rosa as the girls began to walk away. "Yeah, that's right. You better run. She's a natural blonde and smart. The worst combination." Rosa called out to them as they hurried off.

The two looked at each other. Rosa laughing slightly while Caroline rolled her eyes. "That's offensive."

"How? It was a total compliment. Or are you to blonde to see that?" Caroline pressed her lips together to stop the smile that was spreading on her face.

"Now, how did I know I would find you two at the helm of the ship?" The girls turned around to see Klaus standing in front of them, his hands held behind his back.

Caroline looked at Klaus and then down to her clipboard. "Go away. We're busy."

"I need to speak with Rosalina." He said. Caroline looked at Klaus and then to Rosa.

She sighed, "Do you do that just to be a jerk?" Klaus looked at her confused and so did Rosa. "How many times has she told you she doesn't like being called Rosalina?" Klaus frowned slightly.

Rosa used to tell Klaus to call her Rosa, but it never stuck. She had actually gotten used to it, maybe even liked it. Maybe it was just the way he said it.

"Caroline, it's fine. What do you want to talk about?" She asked awkwardly. Caroline nodded and walked away.

"You look absolutely stunning. How do you manage to look so beautiful every single day?" He said with a charming smile on his face.

Rosa looked down at the ground and blushed slightly. Klaus smiled at seeing her react like this. "What do you want?" She asked him, nervously.

"I was wondering when we would be going on our date." He said.

Rosa raised her eyebrows. "Caroline made a stupid promise. But it's not happening, Klaus. I'm sorry."

Klaus nodded and continued to stand in front of Rosa patiently. She looked at him confused. They were at the point where they were both staring at each other, waiting for the other to say something.

"I won't force you. But, I would love it if you showed me a good time today."

Rosa smiled slightly, "But it's not a date."

"It doesn't have to be if you don't want it to be."

Rosa nodded. "Good."

"Good."

Rosa and Klaus stood in the back of the crowd, watching as Caroline made her way to the stage.

"Hi, everyone, I'm Caroline Forbes. As the reigning Miss Mystic Falls, it is my honor to introduce this years Miss Mystic Court."

Rosa smiled at her friend, applauding quietly. She then leaned over to Klaus and whispered, "God, I remember having to do this. It was awful and such a sexist thing to do." She complained.

"Oh, I bet." Rosa rolled her eyes and payed attention to the stage again.

"And finally, we have a last minute entry, April Young accompanied by Jeremy Gilbert." Rosa clapped as she watched the girl she used to help Elena babysit walk down the stairs to meet her brother. But, he wasn't there. In his place is Matt.

Rosa let out a laugh. "Poor girl." She muttered. "She got stuck with a troll." Klaus looked at Rosa with lifted eyebrows. He knew that sometimes she was mean, but she really didn't like Matt.

"So, why is it that you hate Matt so much?" Klaus asked as the pair walked away from all the people.

Rosa shrugged. "Why not?"

"Great explanation. Are you sure that's all?"

Rosa looked at Klaus as he handed her a drink. She smiled slightly and took a sip. "There may be a slight reason." She mumbled quickly before taking another sip.

Klaus smiled, laughing quietly. "Do tell."

"Ah, ah, ah. You're going to need to get me a little more drunk before I start sharing more of my secrets with you."

The two walked up the hill and sat down on the bench. Rosa watched the crowd of people, the girls in long dresses dancing. It reminded her of when she did it. She never wanted to, but her mom had wanted it. Rosa had spent hours learning the stupid dance, being instructed by her mother.

"When we were little..." Rosa started, still staring out at the crowd. "Matt used to call me, lesser twin. Everyone compared me to Elena." She chuckled slightly, trying to mask her pain from the memories. "It's always been such a stupid name, made up but a stupid 12 year old. But I hated it so much." She said.

"Rosalina, I'm so sorry." He spoke quietly.

Rosa smiled, "It was so stupid." She told him again. "I was smart enough to realize it was stupid and yet, it made me feel so awful. It made me hate Elena. I started to compare myself to her, which I never should have done because that's way to much pressure for a 12 year old and it's still to much pressure for me now."

Klaus looked at the girl sitting beside him. Hesitantly, he placed his hand on top of hers. "You're right. It is stupid. The fact that anyone thought the Elena held a candle to you."

Rosa shook her head. "I never wanted to be better than Elena. It was good that she was better than me, that way my parents had someone to be proud of. I just hated being compared to her. Like I already knew she was better than me, don't have to rub it in." She took another sip of her drink, nearly finishing it. "And then Damon somehow found out about the name and it became his own little nickname for me. So, that's why I despise Matt."

"I...I could kill him for you."

Rosa laughed, her smile wide and bright. She propped herself up, sitting straighter and stared at Klaus.

"What?"

"I've told you a lot about me. Tell me something about you. Anything." Klaus smirked, thinking of something he could tell her. "Come on, you've lived for a thousand years, I'm sure you could think of something."

"Alright, well, I've travelled the world. One of my favorite places is New Orleans."

Rosa looked at him, "Why?"

"I built a home there for my family a long time ago. And I...I made a really good friend. Someone who I cared for deeply." Rosa nodded softly. "Don't be jealous, love. It wasn't that kind of friend."

Rosa's eyes widened, "What? I am not jealous." The two smiled at each other for a moment. "But since we're in the topic. Is their anyone I should be jealous of?"

"Well, I have had many girlfriends in my past." Klaus told her, smirking. "There was this one girl, Aurora. But she was a bit crazy, so that ended rather quickly." Rosa nodded. "And of course there was Tatia."

"Who was Tatia."

Klaus shrugged, "Me and my brother both loved her. She was a girl who lived near us before we had even turned." Rosa smiled softly. Even if it was about an old girlfriend, she liked hearing about his life as a human. "She was actually a doppelgänger."

Rosa looked up at Klaus sadly, frowning. Klaus realized what he had said not a second later. Rosa stood up and looked out at the crowd. She hated that this made her feel so horrible.

"Rosalina....it was a long time ago."

She nodded, wiping her eyes before any tears could spill. "You loved someone who looked exactly like Elena." Rosa whispered, more to herself.

She sighed. Rosa knew she shouldn't care. It was a thousand years ago and Klaus has never even shown interest in Elena, so why should she care. But for some reason, she couldn't get the image out of her head.

"Do you miss being human?" Rosa asked, drifting away from the topic.

Klaus looked at her, wanting to apologize again, but didn't. "No." He answered calmly. "And soon enough, neither will you."

"Do you miss Tatia?"

"I haven't thought about her in almost a thousand years...but I'm afraid to admit that it makes me glad to see you jealous."

Rosa scoffed, "shut up."

The two stood in silence for a long while. But for once, it wasn't awkward. It was nice to just be there with him.

"I know about the cure." Rosa said suddenly.

Klaus frowned, "I suspected you would by now." He said. "I'm guessing you'll want it, am I correct?"

The girl sighed, noting the frown on Klaus's face. "Of course I would want it...but I would never take it."

"And why is that?"

"I have no right to have it. If we find the cure, it's going to Elena or Caroline or whoever wants it." She said. Klaus nodded. "Plus I couldn't leave you to watch me grow old and die. It's destroy you." She said smirking slightly.

Klaus chuckled softly, and taking a drink from his glass. "That is true. I'd be beside myself to never receive the pleasure of seeing the beautiful Rosalina Gilbert again."

"Rosa, please don't be mad at me." Rosa paced around her room angrily as she listened to Stefan over the phone.

Apparently all while she was flirting with Klaus, Jeremy became an actual hunter with a hunters mark and Stefan's been having Jeremy kill vampires to complete the map.

"How do expect me to react to this, Stefan? I...I though we had finally become friends. We were the secret spy's, going on our secret missions. God, why does everyone have to lie to me?" She complained.

"It wasn't lying, it was just not telling." Rosa rolled her eyes and frowned. "We are friends, Rosa. That's why I'm telling you and apologizing. I don't want to ruin our friendship."

"Look, I seriously can't deal with this right now. Also I know you're with Caroline and she's probably coaching you on what to say right now. So, I'll talk to you guys later."

Rosa hung up the phone and sighed. Today she spent the whole day with Klaus, and she liked it. She felt happy. The happiest she's felt in a long time.
