Stefan, Elena, Jeremy, Matt, Caroline and Rosa were sitting at the picnic table when they saw Damon and Bonnie walking up to them. Rosa wasn't sure why she was here, all she knew was that Stefan wanted everyone here.
"Stefan, what are we doing here?" Damon asked referring to why they were sitting at a high school picnic table.
Stefan shows the paper lanterns in his hands, "We're finishing the memorial we didn't get to have earlier." Stefan hands Elena a lantern. "We need to start healing, Damon. We've all lost to much, especially recently. I think we're numb to it. We push it away, we make a joke out of it, ignore how we feel. We've never just let ourselves grieve."
"So, you're lighting lanterns?" Damon asked which was Rosa's exact thoughts.
"Yeah. Yeah, we need to do this."
Damon shook his head, "What we need is to find out who this hunter is and what he knows about the death of the Council. We have more important things to be doing right now than this."
"Not tonight, we don't." Damon scoffed and Stefan's statement. "This is form my Uncle Zach and my friend Lexi and for Alaric." Rosa watched sadly.
Everyone standing here had a long list of names that they could read through to grieve. Stefan lot his lantern and then hands the lighter to Matt.
"This is for Vicki."
Matt lights his lantern and Caroline gets up to take the lighter from him. "This is for my dad. And Tyler's." Caroline lights her lantern and Jeremy takes the lighter.
Jeremy looks at his sisters, "This is for our parents." He then looks at Matt, "For Vicki. Anna. Jenna. And Alaric." Rosa smiled at her brother.
He lights his lantern and looks at Damon. He tries to give the lighter to Damon but he refuses. "No way. I'm not doing that."
Damon then left. It was silent for a second but Jeremy handed Bonnie the lighter. She picks up a lantern and stands next to Caroline. "This is for my grams."
Elena gets up and stands next to Stefan. "This uhm—is for my mom, my dad, Jenna, everyone that you've all lost, everyone that this town has lost. And for me, I guess."
Rosa then stood up and walked over to her friends taking a lantern and the lighter. "Uhm...this is for my mom and dad, Aunt Jenna and Uncle John." She then looked around at all the people around her. "This is for Alaric. For Caroline and Elena...and me. We're all dead so, I guess it's time to mourn."
Everyone smiles softly. Elena then walks forward and releases her lantern. One at a time they all let go of the lanterns and watch as they float up into the sky.

Rosa walks into the classroom and sat in her normal spot in the back. Elena made her some to school today which was definitely a bad idea. She claimed that it would be suspicious to hide out at home, but Rosa thought it would be anything but. That's what she does anyways. Like, when does Rosa ever come to school?
She looked around and saw Stefan look at Elena who was staring at the board. Rosa looked at the board, she could tell that was Alaric's handwriting. She honestly couldn't believe that there wasn't some janitor to clean it up.
The girl was pulled from her thoughts when Rebekah Mikaelson walked into the room handing out fliers. Chipper as ever. Rosa stood up and was about to do something when Stefan shook his head.
Rosa glared at he blonde before reluctantly falling back into her seat. "Morning everyone." She said happily. "So, I'm throwing a little anti-curfew party at my new house. Starts at fifth period and goes 'til whenever. Spread the word." Rebekah hands out a fly to Rosa and smirks at her. She whispered, "Klaus misses you."
Rosa didn't answer. She didn't want to lose her temper. She was working on staying calm and if anyone was going to test that it would be Rebekah Mikaelson. Instead she looked down at the flying, crumpled it and threw it at Rebekah's feet and smirked back.
"Oops." Rosa said. Rebekah shook her head and walked back to the front of the class and turned towards Elena.
"You're welcome to join Elena, if you'd like to bury the hatchet." Rebekah told Rosa's sister.
She hands Elena a flyer which Elena takes, "It's a pretty enormous hatchet."
Rebekah rolls her eyes, "Well, I'm feeling generous of spirit."
Elena looks down at the flyer, "New house, huh? Did your brother finally kick you out?"
"He didn't kick me out, I left."
"So you left the only person on earth who actually likes you?"
Rebekah turned to Stefan and smirked, "Well, your boyfriend liked me once." Stefan looks up and Rosa could tell he had been trying to ignore this. "Actually, a lot more than once."
"Why are you still in town, Rebekah?" Stefan asks. "Don't you anywhere else to go?"
"Like hell." Rosa muttered.
"Well, history is my favorite class. Actually, where is Mr. Saltzman...?" She paused and looks at Elena. A smile on her face, "Oh, that's right, I killed him." Rosa stands up from her desk the chair banging into the wall as Elena throws a pencil at Rebekah's face, but the blonde catches it and throws it into Elena's shoulder. Rosa gasped and Elena was definitely surprised.
Elena removes the penicillin from her shoulder and gets up, leaving the class before anyone notices what just happened.

Rosa was about to follow, but Stefan did instead.

Later that day, Rosa, Caroline, Stefan and Elena were sitting outside at one of the tables. Rebekah has been destroying the day and Rosa really wanted to punch someone.
Elena was pacing back and forth and Rosa watched her, getting dizzy. "It was a valiant first day effort. No one will judge you if you want to go home." Caroline said.
"Ooh! Can I go home?" Caroline shook her head and Rosa sighed.
"I don't want to go home. I want to take the white oak stake and kill her. That's how mad I am. She made me murderous!" Elena shouted.
Rosa bit her lips together, trying to avoid laughing. "Do it. Kill the beast!" Rose shouted. Caroline gave Rosa the look. "What?"
"How about we just leave the murdering to Damon?" Stefan suggested as he gets up and walks closer to Elena.
Elena shook her head, "And—and then do what? Ignore her to death?"
"Look, she's trying to make herself feel better. She knows that everybody hates her, so she's trying to hate harder. Tell you what, let's just skip the rest of the day. Go have some fun. I feel like this day is severely lacking in fun."
Elena looks at Caroline and Rosa who smile and nod. "Yeah. Okay, fine." Stefan smiled and Rosa sighed in relief because she definitely hasn't studied for her math test later today. "Then, we'll go to her party and show her she can't intimidate me. I just have to go home and change first. Come on Rosa."
"What it always gotta be a party? I hate parties." Rosa muttered as she walked away with Elena.
—
"Seriously, I stay home for one party, and you get bit by a werewolf?" Rosa asks, practically screaming. She was in the Salvatore house and looked at Elena who laid on the bed, looking very sick.
"Come on Klaus, where the hell are you?" Stefan muttered angrily as he hangs up the phone and sits on the bed next to Elena.
Rosa sighed. She knew that if she called Klaus, he would most likely answer. Though, he hasn't really tried to talk to Rosa since everything happened, so maybe not.
Rosa wasn't paying attention. She was sort of watching Elena talk to herself, but mostly nervously pacing the room. She had to stay to make sure Klaus get bed Elena the cure, but she also really doesn't want to stay and see Klaus.
Suddenly Klaus entered the room. Stefan gets up from the bed and walks over to him while Rosa backs away.
"You came." Stefan says relived.
"I did. And for further reference, one voicemail is just as effective as nine." Klaus looks over at Rosa. She looked away. Elena moans and Klaus turns his attention to her. "What's wrong, love?"
"She has werewolf venom in her system. You know you're the only one that can heal her, Klaus. Please."
Klaus smirks, "And what would you have done if I were no longer here? Hm? If you and your friends had succeeded in ridding they world of me? Let's play a game for a moment, shall we?"
Rosa sighed and moved across the room to sit next to Elena. "Whatever you want from me..." Stefan said.
Klaus smiles, "I don't want anything from you." He walks over to Elena, staring at Rosa for a moment. "Her, on the other hand." He pauses when he sees Rosa's face. Again, he does something that he knows will hurt her. "If you had told me a few hours ago, I wouldn't have cared a lick about her dying. But as it turns out..." He bites his wrist, "You may be of use to me after all." Klaus places his wrist in front of Elena, and she drinks. "Yes. There we go."
—
"What?" Rosa asked as she opened her car door. She didn't turn around, she knew who it was.
"It's been a while." Klaus said in a soft voice.
Rosa scoffed, "Not long enough." She turned around to face him and sighed. "Thank you for helping Elena, even if it was for your own motives. But you don't have any right to speak to me. Not after what you did."
"I was helping you!"
"No you were helping yourself. You killed me and turned me, Klaus. Do you understand how messed up that is. How you took away my choice to turn. I didn't want to and you knew that."
Klaus shook his head, "You said you didn't want to lose your siblings. Elena's a vampire now. It works."
"Jeremy's not."
"No need to nitpick." Rosa shook her back to her car. "Wait!" Rosa stood still, "I...I'm sorry, Rosalina. I was selfish, I know that."
"But you would do it again."
Klaus shook his head, "I also lied. I turned you for other reasons. I turned you so one day, even if it took another hundred years, you would take a chance with me."
"No." Klaus looked at her confused. "Maybe...maybe it could have happened one day, but you lost that chance the second you snapped my neck. You showed me true you. So no more chances, Klaus. Don't talk to me anymore, okay. I'm done."
Rosa got into her car, not looking back. She knew he was still back there waiting for her, but she didn't care. She backed out of the unnecessarily long driveway and left.

8 652The Draw Of The Unknown
Mia Campbell is your average introverted loner. Not exactly satisfied with her life doing pretty much nothing of import, she's also not that willing to break out and make a change. Until, without any preamble or warning, she is bestowed with a cryptic system that both grants her magical powers, and also operates on the logic of a card game. Things begin to escalate from there. **This project is a bit of an experiment! For any given chapter, Mia's 'decklist' will be built by the community, over on our Discord server. If you find this amusing, and want to participate in the discussion, as well as find the complete list of cards, you will be able to find the link to the Discord server at the end of each chapter. Discussion in the comments is also encouraged and included as well. Each chapter and/or scenario will be intentional, but the cards used will be chosen by you guys. And the draws made will be done via actual drawing of cards during the writing process, for bonus author street cred.**

In the year 1858, the system came to the world. It brought with it beings from fantasy and mythology the likes of which the world had never seen before. In the American frontier, a place already known for being a dog eat dog world the system gave bandits the capacity for untold violence, not to mention monsters and system loving fanatics hell-bent on the murder of the innocent. But are they truly so innocent? No one knows what the system is or why it came, they do know one thing though. That the world post system isn't a place for a hero. Luckily for the world, U.S Marshall Silas Horne is no such man. ----- AN: This story is a litRPG inspired by "Randidly Ghosthound" and "The New World" but after reading many such stories and finding them to be a tad samey I decided to write this in a new setting, the Wild West. Also, my release schedule is chaotic, expect at least one 1000 word chapter each day but probably like two more will also be released.
