《The End》Part 20: I'm Alone

When Rosa came downstairs, Stefan and Elena were talking. Stefan had just put a white rose pin onto Elena's dress.
"Hey Stefan." Rosa said as she picked up her keys.
"Hi, Rosa. Are you driving yourself?" Stefan asked the girl and Rosa nodded. "Why don't you come with us?" The twins looked at each other.
"Sure, if that's ok with Elena." Stefan and Rosa turned to Elena who sighed and showed them a smile.
"Works for me." She answered. Stefan put his arm in front of Elena and she grabbed onto it as they walked towards Stefan's car.
—
Rosa left Stefan and Elena as soon as she got there. She really didn't feel like being a third wheel just because she didn't have her own date.
She was walking around the gym. It was loud and full of girls in flapper dresses. Rosa was wearing a silver flapper dress that Caroline had picked out for her. Her dark hair was curled, pinned up and had a buttload of hairspray in it. Or at least that's what Rosa said when Caroline finished hair spraying her friend.
"Rosa, you look so hot." Caroline said as she ran up to her friend.
The brunette smiled and twirled around, showing off her dress. Soon after Caroline had left to go talk to Matt and Rosa was by herself. This is why she hated these kind of things. She stood awkwardly on the side of the gym.
She also thought it was weird how much high schoolers cared about a decade dance. Like since when did so many teenagers want to dress up as people from the 20s and dance.
"This is a bust." Rosa mumbled to herself as she begins to walk around when she spots Caroline and Tyler. She smiled, seeing how happy Caroline looked.
"Hello, Rosalina." Rosa turned around to see Klaus smiling at her. She scoffed and began to walk away. "Oh, what have I done now?"
"You mean before or after you sent your brother to spy on my brother and risk his life?" The girl asked angrily.
"Dance with me." He said.
"No." Rosa said and continued to walk.
"Please. Just one dance." Rosa bit the inside of her cheek and nodded slowly. Klaus smiled and reached his hand out to Rosa which she hesitantly took. "You look beautiful, by the way." He told her in a low voice.
Rosa smirked slightly, "I know." She told him.
Klaus shook his head and let out a small chuckle. "What is it about you, that makes me smile so often?" Rosa looked down, trying to hide the blush on her face.
When she looked down and realized her feet barely moved. "Sorry, I really can't dance. Elena was the cheerleader, not me. I have no coordination." She told him, laughing at herself.
"That's alright, you just have to follow my lead." Klaus said and suddenly dipped Rosa. She tightened her grip on Klaus's shoulders, their faces were only inches apart.
Slowly, Klaus brought Rosa back up and she steadied herself, trying not to fall. Klaus could tell that Rosa wanted to say something, but was afraid.
"What is it?"
"Is this all a joke to you?" Klaus tilted his head and lowered his eyebrows. "No one has ever liked me before, so please, if this is some mean joke to pass the time, please stop."
"Why would you think it's a joke?" He asked her.
"It doesn't make sense. No one likes me and then suddenly, you do. I don't know if you just thought I was weak and easy to fool. Maybe if you could get me to fall in love with you, maybe then, I'd convince my friends to not try to kill you."

Klaus sighed and Rosa could feel her breath hitch. She shut her eyes for a moment and tried to calm her breathing. "I'm not lying." Klaus said and before Rosa could respond Klaus's lips were gently pressed against hers.
Rosa pulled away slowly. Her brown eyes meeting his blue ones. She turned around and ran out the double doors until she reached the cold air outside.
"Rosa, wait!" Called after her. Rosa stopped and turned around, her eyes were glossed over, but no tears spilt. Rosa was so sick of crying, she couldn't do it again. "I'm sorry."
"You should be." She answered, and wiped her eyes. "What don't you get? I hate you!" She shouted and continued to walk to the parking lot.
Klaus was about to follow when he looked down and saw a line of salt spreading around the entire school. "What is this?"
"Your mother is back." Klaus turned to see Stefan behind him.
—
Later, they were all in the classroom as Bonnie was chanting a spell. Stefan had called Rosa and told her what was going on and that she had to come back inside. Rosa didn't really have a choice considering Stefan was her ride.
Rosa and Klaus stood on opposite sides of the table. Rosa refused to look at him, despite feeling his stare on her.
"She does this all the time, right?" Jaimie asked.
"What's taking so long? All boundary spells have a loop hole." Klaus said angrily, ignoring Jaimie.
Matt then entered the room and Rosa sighed. "People are walking right out of the dance past the barrier." He told them.
Jeremy then said, "Matt and I can leave, we can stop Esther ourselves. We just gotta find out where she is."
"It's suicide, Jeremy." Stefan answered. Rosa sighed and then went to walk out of the room. "Rosa where are you going?"
"Anywhere but here." She responded. "Home, to find Elena, literally anywhere. I don't have to be here."
"Rosa, stop being so annoying and stay here." Damon ordered. The brunette nodded slowly and sat down in one of the seats. Klaus watched the girl carefully before speeding over to Jaimie and behind to strangle him.
"Suicide would be disappointing me! Now work your magic, witch, or I'll start killing people you fancy." Klaus said angrily, still gripping Jamie's throat.
"Let him go!" Bonnie screamed.
"Not until you get us out of here."
"Ah, don't be stupid, Klaus. Bonnie doesn't give a Damon about us. The only reason she's helping us right now is to save Caroline and Tyler. You start killing people she cares about, she'll tell us all to go to hell." Stefan said.
Everyone watched as Klaus let go of Jaimie and Bonnie let out a relieved sigh. Klaus then went to stand behind Rosa's chair, but she got up and walked over to her brother before he could reach her. Jeremy looked at Rosa's face and then glared at Klaus.
—
Everyone was standing in the hall as Bonnie stayed inside. She couldn't focus with everyone inside the room.
"Me and Matt are going to find Elena." Jeremy said.
"Please let me come." Rosa asked her brother. She really didn't want to be here anymore. "Or drop me off at home or anything. Just get me out of here."
"Don't take here. It may not be safe." Klaus said before Jeremy could answer.
The youngest Gilbert glared at Klaus and saw the look on his sisters face. "I'll protect her. Come on Rosa." Rosa smiled and ran in front of the boys as they all went to leave the building.

"You know how to shoot a gun?" Matt asked as they sat in the car.
"Yup." Rosa answered.
"Rosa, why the hell do you know how to use a gun?" Jeremy asked.
"Because I was dragged into this whole supernatural war. I need to protect myself. What's your excuse?" Jeremy sighed and continued to drive as Matt handed the girl a gun.
The three wait outside the tomb, Matt and Rosa have guns pointed and Jeremy a crossbow when Esther comes out.
"Don't move!" Matt shouted.
"Where's Elena?" Jeremy asked her.
Elena comes outside and screamed, "Jeremy! Rosa!"
"Let her go!" Jeremy shouted.
"How foolish of you, to risk your lives in defense of those who kill you. But if that is your choice." Esther looks at Rosa for a moment. She's heard things about the human girl who has caught her sons interest.
Esther uses her magic to make a Rosa drop her gun and Matt and Jeremy point there weapons at Rosa. "Shit!" Rosa shouts. "Hey, Jer, Matt, we're all friends here. Just—just drop the weapons. Please." Rosa pleaded.
"I can't! I'm not controlling it!" Matt says.
"Jer." Rosa cries.
"Please don't make us do this." Jeremy said to the witch.
"Esther stop it!" Elena screamed. Suddenly Alaric comes up from behind and stabs Esther.
"Oh my god. Where's my ring? Tell me what happened." Alaric said. Rosa sighed, he was his old self and she was currently not about to die.
—
Jeremy, Rosa, Elena and Alaric were talking inside the Salvatore tomb.
"Damon's here. And Klaus took Esthers body." Jeremy said.
"Does he know about the stake?" Alaric asked.
Jeremy shook his head, "No, only that she tried to turn you into a weapon and failed. What's going on?" Jeremy asked noticing the look on Alaric's face.
"Listen Jeremy, Rosa, I'm not gonna complete the transition. My dark side was dangerous enough as a human. I can't be a vampire." Rosa opened her mouth to say something, but couldn't. As much as she gave Alaric a hard time, she didn't want to see him dead.
"So, where we're just gonna lock you in here and let you die?" Jeremy was angry now. He didn't want this. Alaric doesn't answer him. "No, no we can't!"
"Alaric, maybe there's some way to help you so you don't have to...you know." Rosa said, not even wanting to say it. She couldn't imagine Alaric not being here anymore.
"Listen, guys, it's the right thing to do, ok? After everything that's happened, after all that I have done. Maybe I had it coming." Jeremy turns and walks out of the tomb.
"Jeremy." Rosa says softly.
"Hey, wait, Jer...Alaric this isn't your fault." Elena says and Jeremy stops and turns around.
"Please, you guys let's not make this any harder than it already is. You three should go. Damon's here. He'll make sure it'll go down the right way." Jeremy begins to walk away. "Hey, hey..."
"Don't. Don't give me some crap speech about how I need to be the man of the house."
"Ok, I won't." Rosa watches as Alaric and Jeremy hug and Jeremy walks back outside. Alaric turns towards the twins, tears in both of their eyes.
"This is all my fault. You moved out, you gave me your ring back, you didn't want any part of this and I, I forced you to stay and take care of us." Elena said, in a cry.
"Don't do that, ok. Taking care of you, Jeremy and Rosa has been—has been the closest I've ever come to the life I always wanted." Elena cries into Alaric's should as they hug. "You should go." He tells her.
After Elena leaves, Alaric turns to Rosa who just stared at him. Suddenly Rosa wraps her arms around Alaric.
"I'm so sorry." She mumbled into his shoulder.
"For what?"
"For being such a bitch to you." Alaric smiles slightly. "I promise I didn't hate you."
"I know." Alaric says softly.
"I think maybe part of me, blamed you for Jenna or was just upset that you were there instead of her, I got used to you being there. I grew attached. I'm not ready to lose another person I love." She cried. "Please don't leave me."
"Rosa, it's going to be ok. You've made so many friends and I can tell that you'll be ok." Alaric told her as they broke apart from their hug. "I love you too." He said. "Hey do me a favor."
"What?" Rosa asked.
"Turn in your homework every once in a while." Rosa smiled and nodded, wiping the tears from her eyes.
"Maybe I'll even try to pass a test." She said before walking outside, Alaric following after her.
When they got outside, they see many people gathered around, candles scattered everywhere. Rosa walks over to Jeremy and he puts his arm around her shoulder. They watch as Alaric smiles softly before going back into the tomb and closing the gate.
—
Rosa was sitting outside on her porch. She was alone, she liked it. Jeremy was with Matt, Elena with Stefan and Caroline with Tyler. Rosa had missed being alone, but it didn't last long.
She hears a noise and looks up to see Klaus standing in front of her. She sighs and turns back to her notebook.
"I heard what happened." He said in a low voice.
"Good for you." Rosa answers, not looking up.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm great." She says, and sniffles. Klaus looks over at what Rosa is looking at. In her notebook her sees she's writing. But didn't get very far.
Dear Jenna,
Alaric is dead. I'm alone.
Klaus sighs and takes the notebook out of the girls hands. She looks up at him, her eyes red from crying. He takes her hands and pulls her up from her seat.
Suddenly Klaus bites his arm, Rosa watching the blood come out of his arms. "What are—what are you doing?" She asks him confused.
"I'm sorry, love, but I need reassurance." Klaus suddenly forces Rosa's mouth to his arm, forcing her to drink the blood.
She attempts at spitting it out, but Klaus snaps her neck. He catches her before she falls to the ground and picks her up and rests her in his arms. He begins to walk away, heading towards his house.
"I'm sorry love. I hope that one day, you can forgive me."

She doesn't even understand the language, yet. If you see any maths mistakes or strange story decisions, leave a comment and I will either fix it or consider changing it. This is also, essentially, a first draft. That means I will edit older chapters and nothing is final, including numbers. Any major changes are listed in the changelog below each chapter. Since this is a first draft, the start is noticably bad and inconsistent compared to the more recent chapters so you will have to endure that to get to the good stuff.
