《The End》Part 12: Blood

"Thanks for walking us home." Elena said as her, Rosalina and Matt all walked up to their house.
"Are you doing ok? This has to bring up a lot for you." Matt said. Of course he wasn't actually talking to both of the twins. He only cared about Elena's answer.
"We've all lost a lot." Elena paid her sister a glance. They still hadn't talked about Elena and Alaric lying about her parents and Rosa really didn't want to. She decided that her Elena would hang out with needed and would be nice to each other, but they were never going to be best friends or anything.
"In this town, it's messed up. None of us should have to live this way." Matt said. He held the door open for Elena and walked in after her. He almost shut the door in Rosalina's face, but she stopped it with her foot.
Rosa looked at her sister who was staring at the lights confused. They were still turned off so Rosa went and tried to turn them on herself, but failed as well.
"That's weird." Elena said.
"Electricity must be out." Matt responded.
"Wow Matt, you're so smart." Rosa commented earning a glare from her sister, but she just rolled her eyes. Matt always annoyed her, but she was not in a great mode tonight. She didn't get why Matt was even here. Why did he have to walk them home? Why did he half to come inside?
The three of them walked into the kitchen. Elena opened the cabinet and pulled out two flashlights. Rosa held out her hand, but she handed it to Matt, so she turned the flashlight on her phone on.
"Here." She said after giving the flashlight to Matt and turning on her own. "I think I have some candles over there." She said.
"I'll get them." Rosa told her and walked over to them. She stopped when her eyes darted to a dark red pool of blood on the floor. Rosa shut her eyes for a second before turning around to her sister who was now staring at the blood.
"Oh my God!" She yelled.
"What the hell?" Matt added.
Elena moves her flashlight along the hallways where they find bloodied handprints on the wall. Elena and Matt grabbed knifes from the kitchen drawers. Rosa looked at them with fear for a moment before grabbing a knife as well.
"Please don't be a murderer, please don't be a murderer." Rosa muttered under her breath.
"Matt?" Elena called. They followed blood red footprints out of the kitchen and up the stairs. Rosa tried to stay close to the others, but fear was overtaking her. She hated this feeling. The same feeling she got in the gym before school started. She should be used to scary stuff like this happening, but not in her own home. Not without some sort of protection.
It wasn't until now that Rosalina understood her sister. It wasn't until now that she wanted to thank her and hug her for sending their brother away. Sending him away from the danger. She could only imagine if had been in the house when this happened.

When they reach the top of the staircase they look around. Rosa was staring at another blood stained handprint on the wall when she saw Elena and Matt move. She followed them to where Alaric was laying between the doorway, a knife through his stomach. She shook her hands at her side and inhaled a deep breath refusing to exhale until knowing that Alaric and everyone else was safe. Elena gasped and rushed over to Alaric, Matt quickly following after her.
"Ric! Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!" Elena shouted, almost crying. Rosa hadn't realized that tears were blurry her vision. She never thought she would shed a tear for Alaric Saltzman. She hated him. But here she was, looking at him hurt and bleeding out and she realized that she needed him in her life. As much as she hated to admit it, Alaric did care for her and her family. It wasn't his fault for what happened with Jenna. He protects her, Elena and Jeremy.
Elena was about to pull out the knife but Alaric started screaming. "No, leave it in! Leave it in. He's lost too much blood. I'm gonna call 911." Matt said.
"Seriously, Lena, I thought you wanted to be a doctor. You need to start studying." Rosa told her. Her voice was in short breaths and she couldn't even look at the scene in front of her. Elena didn't mind Rosa's comment. Rosa makes light of bad situations, she makes bad jokes that are poorly timed because it stops her from breaking down. They both knew that neither of them could lose anyone else and walk away from it without being mentally damaged.
Elena grabbed Alaric's face and looked him straight in the eyes. "Ric, look at me. Who did this to you?" She asked.
"I don't know."
"Oh my god, there's a lot of blood. Matt!"
"I know, I know, Elena. I know." He responded. Rosa hated the sight of blood and now it covered her house. She leaned against the wall, she slowly slid down to the floor. She sat there for a minute, trying to calm herself before crawling over to her sister and Alaric.
"You have to kill me." Alaric said.
"What?" Both Elena and Rosa said in unison.
"Elena, you—you have to kill me." Elena grabbed Alaric's hand and looked at the ring he was wearing. Rosa remembered that Jeremy had the same one or one really similar to it. It was from uncle John. She always thought those rings were really ugly, but Alaric and Jeremy treated them like their most prized possession.
"Wait, wait, wait, Matt hang up, hang up. He's right. If he dies a supernatural death, then he'll come back to life and he'll be healed." Elena said. Rosa watched her confused. Even the rings were magical now.
"But, how do you know who did this is supernatural?" Matt asked.
"That's what he's saying, we don't but...I'm the doppelgänger." She told him. Rosa forgot her sister was supernatural. It kind of freaked her out. Someone I'm the world or in history looking exactly like her sister. She held the knife that she grabbed earlier tightly in her hand. "That makes me supernatural."

"Elena! No, this is messed up!" Matt yelled.
"I agree. Elena let's just call 911." Rosa told her. Rosa had tears in her eyes now. She couldn't watch her sister kill Alaric.
"He's dying, guys!" She screamed before stabbing Alaric in the chest. Rosa watched, her mouth opened wide as Alaric's eyes slowly shut.
Rosa and Elena had been sitting next to Alaric's body when Matt came to sit next to Elena. Rosa was afraid to move. Alaric's blood covered her hands and she would do anything to wash it off, but a fear came over her. She had to wait for him to wake up first. She had to make sure he wasn't gone forever.
"He's still out?" Matt asked. Elena nodded slowly.
"Caroline called. Her dad died. Will you stay with us? Until he wakes up?" Elena asked. Rosa didn't know why Elena wanted Matt here, but right now she didn't mind having a human in the house.
"Of course." He answered.
"I can't lose any more family." She said before starting to cry. Matt took her arms and comforted her. Rosa watched. She was still in shock. When Rosa came in the house it was something from a horror movie. Now she watched her sister kill her somewhat guardian. That was not going to go away quickly. She knew it was to save him, but Rosa couldn't get the image of Elena shoving the knife into his heart out of her head.
Elena was on the phone with Sheriff Forbes when Alaric woke up, coughing. Rosa watched him, still scared to move. Elena rushed over to him.

Rosalina didn't come with Elena and Matt to the hospital. She could barely make it to her room. Flashes of blood, seeing Alaric, watching Elena kill him kept occupying her mind.
She quickly changed her clothes and sat in her bed. Rosa knew she wasn't going to sleep that night. She knew she would lay awake the whole night. She knew she probably wouldn't be sleeping for a while.
The next morning Rosa decided to stay in her room most of the day. She knew Elena, Damon and Stefan were all down stairs. Most likely talking about the previous night.
She hadn't moved a muscle since that night. She had gotten in her bed and sat against the headboard all night and the whole morning. That was until all three of them barged into her room. Rosa silently scolded herself for forgetting to lock her door. Her mind was thinking of other things.
"Sleepy times over." Damon said as she sat on the bed. Both Stefan and Elena rolled their eyes. Elena looked at her sister. She was still in shock. "Guess what. You were invited to the Mikealson ball."
Rosa looked at him for a second, no movement or smelt ion showing. Damon sighed. Elena came over to her sister and sat next to her, but Rosa moved away.
"I'm not going." She mumbled softly.
"You don't have a choice." Damon responded. Everyone looked at him confused. It wasn't unusual for Rosa to skip out on town events or anything imprints to where she would have to dress up.
"I'm. Not. Going." She repeated.
"I. Don't. Care." He stated, mocking her. "You have been requested by Klaus. Turns out the annoying wolf has a thing for you." He said. Rosa almost scoffed.
"He does not. Plus why should I care. I kind of hate him." She said with a slight smirk. Damon returned the smirk.
"You should care because we want to kill Klaus.
We can use you to do that."
"No. Elena tell your boyfriends to go away." Both Salvatores turned to Elena which quickly drew the attention away from Rosa. Just like she had planned.
"Rosa just—you should come. Please. Caroline's going to be there and she's really upset about her dad and wants to talk to you." She said.
"I...I can't. That's not fair using the whole friendship thing on me. Besides I have nothing to wear."
"We'll figure it out." Damon said before the three of them left. Rosa waited a few minutes before picking up her phone. She sighed and shook her head. 5 missed calls from the same number. All an unknown called, but Rosa knew it was Klaus. She shut off her phone and leaned her head against the back of her bed.
After a few hours Rosa finally went downstairs. The house was empty. Rosalina used to love when she had the house to herself, now it made her afraid and sad. She was brought back from her thoughts when her phone started to ring.
She answered it without looking at the caller. Her first mistake. "Hello?"
"Rosalina, so good to finally hear from you. I was getting worried when you weren't answering any of my calls." Rosa listened carefully to Klaus's voice. Should couldn't believe Damon thought Klaus liked her. He didn't like her, he liked torturing her. He was a monster...he is a monster.
"What do you want?" She asked coldly.
"Ah, someone who gets straight to the point." He mumbled on the other side of the phone. Rosa rolled her eyes. She was in no mood for this. "I'm sorry about your friend...Alaric is it."
"Can we not talk about this? What do you want?" She repeated.
"I heard you don't like to dress up much." He said.
"Who'd you hear that from?" She asked a smirk playing on her lips. Her second mistake.
"I have my sources." Rosa rolled her eyes, but the small grin on her face remained. "Anyways, I was thinking you may need something to wear to the ball."
"I'm not going to that—"
"Just open your door." Rosa sighed and walked to her front door, carefully unlocking it. She looked down at a box laying on the ground. Her smile wide and her cheeks red. Her third mistake.
"What is it?" Rosa asked, but Klaus had already hung up the phone. She quickly picked up the box, pulled it inside and locked the door. She then looked out her window to make sure no one was there. As soon as she made sure no one was near she turned back to the box.
