"Lexi?"
"Mm-hmm. You two, come with me." Lexi said and started walking. Rosalina looked at her sister for a minute before following the blonde.
"Where?" Elena asked.
"Ripper detox 101. Crash course." Lexi turned around and held Elena's wrist and begins to pull her towards the door.
"I..."
"I'm sorry, did you not just say how desperate you were for my help in saving Stefan's life?" Lexi asked. Elena looked towards the restrooms where she had left Jeremy and Anna and then back to Lexi.
"Let's go." Elena grabbed her sisters hand and the three of them went to save Stefan.
✰
The three of them entered the city jail, which was dimly lit and grey was the only color that could be found.
Lexi lead the twins down to the basement where they found Stefan tied to a chair, sleeping. His head hung low and the girls just stared at him.
"You tied him up?" Rosa asked the blonde.
"Yup." Lexi answered, making it clear she didn't have time for a lot of questions. Rosa wasn't even sure how Lexi was here in the first place. She was supposed to be dead, just like Anna. "Klaus really did a number on him, huh?" She asked turning to Rosalina's sister.
"He compelled him to turn off all his humanity." Elena answered.
"Well we're just going to have to convince him to turn it back on. I have to warn you, it's not going to be pretty." Lexi said noticing Rosa's discomfort in the situation.
"I can handle it." Elena said. The two looked at Rosalina who wasn't trying very hard at hiding how much she hated this. She nodded.
"Yeah, I'm good."
Lexi walked over to Stefan and kicked him which surprised both of the twins. "Wake up, sleepyhead." She said. Stefan slowly woke up and looked at Lexi. "How you feelin'?"
Stefan looked around the prison cell he was in and then down at the chair he was tied to. He began to struggle in the restraints which made both Rosa and Elena back up a little.
"What is this? Let me out of here!" He shouted, veins appearing under his skin.
"Shh. Inside voices, please. I'm trying to get inside your head."
Stefan turned to Elena, giving her an almost caring look. "Elena. Get rid of her, please."
"No."
"First step, drying him out. Starve away the blood lust. Strip away the temptation." Lexi told Elena and Rosa.
"This isn't going to work, Lexi. You can't do this." Stefan responded to Lexi's explanation.
"You heard the not pretty part?"
"I heard you."
"Yeah." Rosa and Elena said at the same time. Lexi then leaned over Stefan, looking him straight in the eyes.
"What are you doing?" Stefan asked. Stefan started to groan in pain. "What are you doing, Lexi?" He asked through the pain.
"Doing what I do best, sweetness. I'm saving your life."

"What's happening to him?" Rosa asked her sister. She knew Stefan was a bad guy right now, but she's also learned it wasn't his fault. He didn't deserve to go through all this pain.
"Lexi's desiccating him." Elena responded, staring at Stefan intently. Her eyes never left him, even as she answered Rosalina's questions.
After a while of Lexi doing what she does best, Stefan began to get really angry. He was still struggling against the restraints, but it was clear he was becoming weaker.
"I'm starving! I'm starving! I'm starving! Let me out! Let me out! Please let me out." Stefan begged. Somehow Lexi stood still, not showing any sympathy for him. Rosalina didn't understand it. They were best friends from what she knew yet, she could torture him like this.
"What's happening?" Elena asked. She obviously didn't love this situation either.
"He's hallucinating. That's three minutes without any blood." Lexi told the twins calmly.
"Let me out!" Stefan screamed again.
"Now he's at nine months." Rosa hated watching this. Stefan looked miserable and in pain. "Two years...five."
"Did I ever tell you how glad I am that you're dead?" Stefan asked her angrily.
"Oh. I missed you, too, friend." Elena's phone suddenly rang which made Rosa jump slightly. She looked at Elena's screen to see that Caroline was calling. Elena walked out of the room and Rosalina was about to follow when Elena motioned her to stay.
Once Elena came back she looked at Stefan who was covered in sweat and was loudly panting. Rosa never thought a vampire would be able to be in such pain. She had thought they couldn't get hurt or anything like that.
"Elena, Elena. I'm hurting. Please help me." Stefan pleaded.
"Don't listen. Shut him out." Lexi told her.
"I am helping you, Stefan." Elena responded to him.
"I'll do anything. I'll change. I promise." Rosa looked at Stefan and then to Elena, not sure what she would say.
"It's a lie. He'll say anything right now." Lexi warned them.
"Hey...hey Rosa. You don't want me to be in pain right. Please make it stop." Stefan said looking at Rosa. Rosa looked at her sister and Lexi. She backed away from Stefan and stood behind her sister.
"I'm sorry, I can't." She told him.
"Elena, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Just make it stop. Please, just make it stop." He continued to beg to Elena.
"You have to separate yourself from your emotions. Don't let him play on them."
"Hey, look at me. Look at me." Stefan told Elena softly. "Elena. I love you, ok? I love you. I love you so much. I love you so much, Elena." He told her. Elena shook her head slightly, Rosa could tell how much this was hurting her sister.
"I'm sorry, Stefan, I just don't believe you." Once she said that Stefan became angry.
"You know what? I don't want your help, anyway. I wish I'd never met you. Every single moment that I've spent with you has been a complete and total waste." He told her. Rosa pulled Elena back towards her and held onto her hand. Elena nodded slightly, refusing to cry for Stefan.

"You see that? That's the ripper talking. Once he's weak enough, you have to cause him pain. Make him feel things. Anger, rage, anything. You have to make him see past the blood." Suddenly Lexi drove a stake into Stefan and pulled it out. Rosa shut her eyes and Elena looked away slightly. "Think of it as a regimen. Day in and day out. Like running the treadmill. Like making coffee. Until he's ready to be saved."
"I will rip you apart, Lexi!"
"You can't. I'm already dead." She answered before driving the stake through him again.
"I can't." Elena suddenly said. The two girls watched her leave.
"I'll go get her." Rosa told the blonde before following her sister. "Elena?" When Rosa found her sister she saw her staring at the police and paramedics. They were in town square, moving a wrapped body onto a stretcher.
Elena and Rosa started walking around Town Square looking at all of the chaos that was happening. They then spotted Jeremy and walked over to him.
"Jeremy? What happened?" Elena asked.
Jeremy and Elena had been talking for a while, but Rosalina wasn't paying attention. She was still watching the town. All this because two vampires decided to come to Mystic Falls last year.
"Where is Anna now?" Rosa heard her sister ask as she rejoined their conversation.
"I don't know, ok?" I don't even know for sure if she took the necklace."
"I do." Rosa mumbled which earned her a look from Jeremy. She shrugged it off and Elena started talking again.
"She was the only person who heard us talking about it. Of course she took it. Ok? We have to get it back. We have to destroy it and then close the door." Elena said and Rosalina nodded in agreement.
"I know, but..." Jeremy started.
"But what? What, Jer?" Elena asked. She was obviously angry with her little brother and so was Rosa.
"I can touch her, Elena. I can kiss her again. And I know it's wrong, and I know that I shouldn't feel this way, but I do. I love her. I've always loved her." Jeremy told his sisters. Suddenly Rosa slapped the back of Jeremy's head. "Ow." He mumbled looking at her confused.
"But it's not real." Elena continued ignoring Rosa and Jeremy's fight. "She's dead. Gone. Everything that you're holding on to is in the past, Jer. Are you going to love a ghost for the rest of your life?" She asked. The twins then looked over Jeremy's shoulder and saw Anna standing there. "He's at the beginning of his life, Anna. You're just holding him back. You know that." Anna suddenly held up the necklace in her hand. The twins looked at Jeremy. Rosa giving him an "I told you so" look. "Call Bonnie. Tell her that you have the necklace. Get her to send the ghosts away." Elena and Rosa began to walk away.
✰
Elena and Rosa walked back down to the jail basement and watched Lexi and Stefan's argument.
"You know you say that every time. Until I make you feel again." She said before driving a stake straight through his stomach. Rosa flinched at the gory scene.
"You wanted your whole life taking care of me. Now you're dead and you still have nothing better to do." Elena walked over and Rosa looked at her confused.
"We're running out of time." She said.
"You've got to get me more." She responded.
"I can't."
"No! No...not until I break through."
"I can't, Lexi. They have the necklace. They're going to close the door." Lexi looked at Stefan and walked closer to himself.
"The necklace. Ok. That necklace. At least tell me you remember how you felt about that. You found it during your darkest time. And you said, when you made it through, that that necklace represented hope." Rosa smiled slightly at that story. Elena was Stefan's hope.
"Ironic, then, that it's about to be blown to pieces." He answered.
After a while of convincing Lexi raised her head and looked at Elena. "He's still in there, Elena. You just have to break through."
"It's ok, Lexi. I know what to do now. You can be free." Lexi nodded and smiled. She looks at Stefan and disappeared.
"So what are you going to do, Elena? You just going to stand there? Waiting for me to dry out?" Stefan asked her.
"No, I'm going to go home, take care of my brother and sister. Be a friend to Bonnie and everything else I have to do." She started walking out the door.
"That's good for you. You know, I was wondering when you were going to give up. Lexi gave you...enough of a glimpse into your tragic future."
"I haven't given up, Stefan. I still have hope." Elena turned around and walked over to Stefan. "But there's nothing that I can do until you get yours back." Elena softly placed her hand on Stefan's face. "Hey. You can break through this. Fight it. Feel something. Anything, Stefan. Because if you don't, you're going to lose me forever. I won't love a ghost for the rest of my life." She told him and starts walking away.
"I know you don't care, but I'm leaving to." Rosalina quickly said before following her sister and locking the door behind her. Rosa ran up to her sister and wrapped her in a hug. "I know we don't get along that great, but I'm sorry...and I love you."
"Thanks Rosa." Elena mumbled into her sisters shoulder.
