《The End》Part 6: Lexi

Rosalina sat in her bed. She was hugging her knees closer to her tear stained face. She hadn't been able to sleep at all that night. All she could think about was what had happened last night. Vampires. Running away from someone who she thought was good because he was trying to kill them. And Elena knew about all of this.

The time was 5:15. The time Elena woke up everyday. Rosa winced at the screeching alarm going off. Rosa waited a few minutes until she heard Elena and Alaric talking. Her hand hesitated on the door handle for a moment, but she continued and ran down the stairs.

"Good morning." She heard her sister say. Alaric didn't answer. He was obviously hungover. That's great considering it's the first day of school.

"Elena." She said in a weak voice. Elena and Alaric turned toward the scared girl, but instead of Elena comforting her she smiled.

"Hey Rosa, you ok?" Alaric and Rosa looked at Elena confused for a minute. "It's to bad you...missed senior prank night last night." She said.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Rosa asked.

"You said you didn't want to go, remember? You went to bed early." Rosa shook her head, a dry laugh escaping her mouth.

"Shut up, Elena." She said. "Don't even try lying to me. You two are going to tell me what the hell happened last night and what's been happening ever since you found out about vampires." Elena and Alaric looked at each other and sighed.

"Rosa calm down." Alaric said calmly.

"Don't tell me to calm down. My whole life is falling apart right now and I need you to tell me what's happening." She shouted.

"Rosa you don't know what you're talking about." Elena insisted.

"Elena." Alaric said.

"No, it was a stupid dream Rosa. I'm gonna call Damon." She told him.

"Elena!" Alaric shouted. She turned to him. "Rosa deserves to know." Rosa looked at him and then to Elena who slowly nodded.

"Fine, Stefan, Damon and Caroline are vampires." Elena said. Rosa could feel her jaw drop open. She obviously knew about Stefan and had her suspicions about Damon, but Caroline. Caroline was the girl who tried to be friends with Rosa for years. Caroline was the bubbly blond that she had known since they were kids. How many times had Caroline been right next to Rosa? How many times had she thought about killing her. "Tyler's a werewolf...well I guess he's a hybrid now and Bonnies a witch." She said.

"So basically everyone I know is some kind of monster or whatever?" She asked her sister, trying to find out how she could be ok with this. "And what are you? You just happen to be the only human involved?"

"I'm a doppelgänger."

"What...what is that?"

"I look exactly the same as many others throughout time. I have the same face as someone. It is technically a supernatural creature." Rosalina shook her head and could feel tears forming in her eyes.

"How long have you known?"

"Rosa—"

"How long have you known Elena?" She asked, almost shouting.

"For about a year."

"Oh my god." Rosa mumbled to herself, running her hands through her hair. "Does Jermey know?" Elena nodded softly. "Did mom and dad know?"

"I don't know." She said.

"Did Jenna know?" Elena shook her head, tears softly landing on her cheek.

"No, not until she died."

"Is that how she died? Was she killed by a—a vampire?" Elena and Alaric nodded slowly.

"She was killed by Klaus." Alaric told her. Rosa sat down on the steps and let her head fall into her hands.

"And you've all been lying to me. How could you all lie to me about this? How could you tell Jeremy and not me. We made a deal to protect Jeremy together!" Rosa screamed at her sister.

"We have been."

"No Elena. Are you crazy? You involved Jeremy in this and not me. What is wrong with you? All of you!" She shouted. "Just go! And Alaric, I'm not gonna be in school today." She said before running back into her room.

Rosa didn't attend the first day of school. She had locked herself in her room, refusing to talk to anyone. Everyone who had any importance in her life had been lying to her.

She hadn't heard from anyone until the next day when Elena and Alaric forced their way into Rosa's room.

"Hey." Elena said softly as she walked into her sisters room. Rosa looked up at her sister and then turned away.

"Come on Rosa, it's time to rejoin civilization." Alaric said as he sat down on the bed next to her, but Rosalina scooted away from him. "Ok I get it, we lied. Come on."

"Seriously? That was a huge lie. Everyone lied to me and none of you cared."

"Rosa that's not fair." Elena said. "I told them not to tell you because I wanted to protect you." She said. Rosalina rolled her eyes.

"I'm sure you did Elena."

"Grow up. I protected you and you are overreacting. Yes this is all crazy and I promise we'll tell you everything, but please stop being mad at me."

"How about no." Rosa answered.

"Look Rosalina, we're heading to town square. There's gonna be some speech. If you don't want to come to that, at least come to the grill later today alright. Me, Elena and Jer are gonna be there." Alaric told her. He placed his hand on Rosa's shoulder and sighed.

After debating it for a few hours Rosalina decided to go to the grill. She really didn't want to, but she wanted more answers.

Rosa carefully walked into the mystic grill and landed eyes on her so called family. Elena, Alaric and Jeremy. They all smiled at her which she did not return.

"Hey Rosie." Jeremy said as she sat down next to her. She nodded in response.

"Hey, Jer, I need you to help me with something." Elena told her brother.

"What's up?"

"I've been going through Stefan's old journals. Every single time that he's gone off the rails in the past, his best friend Lexi's been the one to bring him back." She told him.

"What do you mean gone off the rails?" Rosa asked.

"Becoming a ripper. Basically means that he is addicted to blood and now he has no humanity, no feelings no cares in the world." Elena said. Rosa nodded slowly. Just the thought of being addicted to blood made her want to throw up.

"So where is she now that we need her?" Alaric asked, bringing them back to the conversation.

"She's dead." Jeremy said. Rosa shook her head at how calmly he said it. "And you want me to try to reach her don't you?" He asked Elena. Rosa looked at them confused.

"I thought if I knew how she did it, maybe she could help him." She said.

"I don't even know if she's on the other side."

"Is that what it's called?" Elena asked.

"That's what Anna calls it. There's not like an official brochure or anything." He said with a smirk.

"Wait, wait, wait. Anna as in your ex-girlfriend Anna? Was she a vampire too?" Rosa asked confused. "And what is the...other side?"

"Yes Anna was a vampire and the other side is sort of like the afterlife for supernatural creatures." Elena explained to her sister. Rosa nodded softly, not understanding much of what was happening.

"So what is it, like some supernatural purgatory?" Alaric asked.

"Well, Anna said it's like being here with all of us, only we can't see her or hear her. And she can't interact with anyone. She's all alone." The three of them nodded at Jeremy's explanation.

"Vicki could interact. She blew up my car." Rosa widened her eyes. Vicki Donovan was a vampire and that's how she died.

"Vicki had help from a witch on the other side. Anna...she's doing this all by herself."

"I'm just saying, maybe we learned our lesson about summoning dead people." Alaric said.

"Seriously? You guys summoned dead people. Where was I during all of this?" Rosa asked in disbelief.

"Sorry we didn't tell you." Jeremy told his sister. She shrugged and Elena started to talk again.

"Do you think it's even possible to contact Lexi?"

"I don't know. I didn't have an emotional connection with her. I never even met her." Jeremy told her. Rosa just listened curiously. She couldn't believe her brother could talk to the dead. She couldn't believe that nobody cared to tell her.

"Can we just drop it, please?" Alaric asked.

"No, I can't drop it, Ric. I don't know what else to do." Elena said. Rosa could hear the worry and slight panic in her sisters voice and frowned.

"Don't you think we have a few to many dead vampires in our past to be sitting here thinking of them watching us?" Alaric asked. Rosa let out a loud huff and everyone turned to her for a second, but she just shrugged.

Jeremy suddenly looked at the empty chair as if he were listening to someone sitting there.

"Is Anna here right now?" Elena asked. Rosa suddenly scooted away from the chair making Elena and Jeremy roll their eyes at her.

"No, no. I'm going to go, uh, check my work schedule." Jeremy said before walking away.

"He's lying right?" Rosa asked. Elena shrugged, but Alaric nodded with a smirk on his face. Suddenly Stefan came in and sat in the seat previously occupied by Rosa's brother. She froze, fear overtaking her body.

"Hey, guys. Who forgot to invite me to the family summit?" He asked. Stefan glanced at his journals that were laying on the table. He picked one up and started flipping through it. "Hmm? Wow. All these words. I forgot how much I used to care." He said sarcastically.

"I didn't." Elena said.

"You know, Elena, it's probably best you not torture yourself with memories from the past. It's best we both just move on and accept things as they are."

"You don't have to be here, Stefan." Alaric said. His lips forming into a straight line. He looked as if he were ready to kill Stefan at any moment.

"You know what, Alaric, you're right. I don't. But Elena's here, and I look out for Elena. Besides, there's going to be people everywhere tonight. So there's going to be lots to eat." He said. Rosa shut her eyes and Elena stared at Stefan in shock. Stefan looked at the girls and laughed. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Loosen up." He said. He then got up and left saying nothing else.

"I can't drop it, Ric." Elena repeated. The two then turned to Rosa who looked fear stricken. "You ok?" Rosalina forced a misshapen smile.

"Yeah." Her voice was barely a whisper, but the two nodded.

After a few minutes of talking Alaric said, "I'll grab Jeremy."

"We'll be right back." Elena said and grabbed Rosalina's arm and pulled her into the direction of the bathroom. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah." She mumbled again.

When Elena and Rosalina entered the bathroom they saw Jeremy and Anna kissing. "Anna?" Elena asked.

Elena quickly called Caroline as Rosa took turns glaring at her brother and then Anna. Rosalina and Bonnie weren't great friends, but they liked each other and Rosa knew her brother shouldn't be cheating on Bonnie with his dead ex.

"How do we do that?" Elena asked Caroline over the phone.

"Apparently the old witch can draw power from this side because of her talisman." Caroline responded.

"Talisman...my necklace?" Elena asked looking down at the gift Stefan had given her.

"It's some ju-ju power source. And I know you're not going to like this, but Bonnie needs to destroy it." Rosa watched as her sisters face softened, a frown forming on her lips, but then she pulled herself together.

"I just walked in on Jeremy kissing the reasons I'm completely okay with that."

"What? Are you kidding?" Caroline asked, practically screaming through the phone.

"I wish. Look, I don't have the necklace. Damon has it somewhere. Text him. I'll call you right back." She said and then looked back at Jeremy and Anna.

"Elena...Rosie—"

"You need to disappear or evaporate or whatever it is that you ghosts do." Elena said freaking out.

"Agreed." Rosa added.

"Hey, it's not her fault." Jeremy defended her. Rosa scoffed and Elena continued to shout at their brother.

"You're right, it's yours." Suddenly Anna disappeared which made Rosa jump. "How did this happen?"

"I don't know. Ok? I don't know. It just...it did. Elena, please. You can't tell Bonnie."

"Don't worry. I'm going to let you do that. Right after I help her send the ghosts away." Elena pulled Rosalina out of the restrooms with her where they ran into a girl with blond hair.

"Looks like today was a good day to be thinking about me, Elena." She then looked at Rosa and smiled. Rosa returned a soft, awkward smile back.

"Lexi?"
