《The Alpha's Human Mate》Chapter 27 The Battle

"You need to follow my lead," Andrew whispered to me as we walked down the stairs. "And no matter what, you need to do exactly as I say."
I stopped walking, "Andrew, I'm not going to let you get hurt or worse just because you're doing the right thing and some crazy guy took advantage of you."
"Addison," Andrew looked me in the eyes. I could see all the fear swirling around in his, and I could tell that he was just as scared as I was. "Just, please."
"Fine," I agreed reluctantly.
Andrew didn't say anything else, but he did nudge me to keep going. That we had to keep moving.
I was reaching for the doorknob to open the front door when Andrew Pulled me back. "Put these on," he said holding out a pair of handcuffs to me. "I have to lock them so it looks real, but I'm going to leave you enough room so that you can slip out of them and run."
I nodded my heart, holding out my wrists behind my back so that he could loosely lock them together. I could feel the cold metal clasp around where the rope left angry red marks earlier. I held back the need to pull away and wince. Now was not the time. We only had one shot at this.
"All ready?" I asked Andrew as he slipped a small pocket knife into the back pocket of my jeans, pulling my hoodie down over the lump so no one would no.
"Ladies first," Andrew gave me a tight smile before pulling the old front door open and letting me walk out first.
Andrew grabbed hold of my left elbow as he escorted me. He had a gentle hold on it, careful not to hurt me anymore. He walked right beside me the whole way out. Whispering sweet words that it would be ok in my ear. Telling me that he had a plan and it was going to work. At this point, it wasn't just my life on the line, it was his too if Mr. Davis or anyone else on his side found out what he was doing.
I could hear voices yelling and arguing as we got closer to the field.
"Now we just wait here until Mr. Davis yells for me to bring you out," Andrew whispered softly into my ear as he gave a slight tug on my elbow to keep me from moving.
"She was a threat!" I heard Xavier yell. "She wounded multiple of my hunters and tried to hurt me and my Gamma as well. You have to understand that we couldn't just let her live, especially so close to our land. It's was dangerous for my pack."

"You're just a filthy liar!" Mr. Davis' voice boomed through the forest. "She was innocent. You killed an innocent person because you're a rabid animal that needs to be put down,"
"I can show you the file," Xavier said. "The reports of what she did to not only my pack but others in the area. We have proof."
"I saw you kill her! I saw you kill her while you and your little friends just stood there. None of you are any good. You all deserve to die. You all deserve to suffer."
"Mr. Davis, you don't want to hurt us."
"You're right," I could hear the smirk in my teacher's voice. "I don't want to hurt you. I know that it wouldn't help."
"Exactly," I heard Xavier breathe a sigh of relief. "Now please, just tell me where Addison is so I can take her and this can all be over."
"I know that it's useless to hurt you," Mr. Davis went on. "Your pack would get a new Alpha, just as awful and murderous as you. That's why my plan was to never kill you. Oh no, that would be too easy. Your mate in the other hand."
"Don't touch her!" Xavier roared.
"I didn't touch her. But my boys here did," a few of the rouges howled in laughter and some even added more disgusting things to his statement. "And let me tell you, Mr. Black, she sure is pretty. Such a nice, sweet, innocent girl. It really makes me wonder if she's your true mate, or if maybe the Moon Goddess made a mistake."
"Why can't he smell me?" I love whispered to Andrew.
"It's part of Mr. Davis' plan. He knew that if he got Xavier out here on no man's land, surrounded by a bunch of rouges and off his game, with his wolf dying for his mate, then his senses would be off. He's too angry to even notice your presence."
"I'll kill you!" Xavier spit out. "If you hurt her I'll kill you."
"Then I must be a dead man walking," Mr. Davis laughed at his own joke. "I used to think that purple was her colour, but I think that Addison looks much better with black and blue bruises instead."
"What the hell do you want?" My mate asked through gritted teeth. I could see his blurry outline through the trees and tall grass. He was only wearing a pair of baseball shorts and no shoes. Probably so he could shift on the fly better.
"It's simple," Mr. Davis shrugged his shoulders. "I want you to feel the same pain that I did when you killed my mate. The only person I had, the only person I loved." He snapped his fingers twice.

"That's our cue," Andrew said shoving me forward a bit. "When we get out there, it's important that you don't look at him. You need to look at me, pretend that Xavier isn't even there."
I nodded my head in understanding. Now wasn't the time to ask questions. I kept my eyes down and on the forest floor as I made sure not to step on anything or roll of ankle. The last thing I needed was another injury. My legs were already burning and crying out, but I did my best to ignore them and push through it.
"Addison," Xavier breathed out once we entered the clearing.
I didn't look up just like Andrew said. I kept my eyes low.
"What did you do to her?" Xavier demanded. "I'm to kill you and I'm going to enjoy every second of it."
"Now, now, Mr. Black," Mr. Davis' taunted walking closer to me. "I'd be careful with what you say right now, her fate is in your hands and so far, it doesn't look too good."
"Hurt me!" He yelled. "Hurt me. Kill me, torture me, do anything you like. Just don't hurt her. She doesn't deserve to suffer because of this. This fight is between you and me, don't make her part of it."
"It's too late for that, Alpha."
Andrew pulled me closer to him until I could feel the warmth of his body on mine. The grip he had on my elbow grew together. "She's pretty," Andrew called to once I was flush against him. "Too bad, she has such a big mouth on her. but at least it's good for kissing."
"Let her go!"
"We know that you brought your little pack here with you," Mr. Davis said. "Even after we told you to come alone."
The rest of the Midnight Moon Pack took that as their cue to make themselves shown. Slowly they all trickled out of the forest and created a wall behind Xavier.
"She's bleeding," Ivy said. "You need to let her go so we can help her and give her the proper medical treatment."
"This isn't your fight, little girl." Mr. Davis spit out. "Stay out of things that don't concern you."
"She's our luna!" Grayson yelled. "Everything that involves her does concern us."
"Actually she's mine now," Andrew said simply with a shrug of his shoulders. "You weren't around and I decided that she needed a real man. Someone that could actually protect her."
"Addison," Xavier said. "Come here, baby. Please."
I didn't move a muscle. My heart was breaking for him and all I wanted was to be in his arms.
Mr. Davis shoved Andrew away from me and took his place. I could feel his hands on my arms, and a cold blade pressed against my neck.
"Don't do it!"
"You killed my mate," Mr. Davis whispered. "You took her away from me. So it's only fair that I do the same to you. Killing you would be too easy, so instead, I decided that I'd take your mate from you. I'd kill her in cold blood as you did to mine. Say goodbye, Alpha."
"Addison, Now!" Andrew yelled pushing Mr. Dvais away from me.
This was my cue. My cue to slip out of the handcuffs and run. And that's exactly what I did. I threw the handcuffs off of me and ran like hell as the battle broke out. I could hear the tear of clothes ripping and paws hitting the ground as the Midnight Moon pack shifted to attack. I could also hear the screams of others telling someone to get me.
"Addison!" I heard Brad yelled right before he grabbed hold of my arm and hauled me away. "Ivy and Audrey are going to take you back to the packhouse."
"No," I tried my best to pull my arm out of his iron-clad hold on me. "I need to save Andrew."
"Addison, Andrew is the one that helped to take you! He's a bad guy."
"No, he helped me!" I screamed. "He's the one that's been helping me. He's been playing a double agent and we need to help him."
I could the screams of everyone around me. The fighting, the blood, the lives that would be lost and the people that would get hurt. All because of me. And right now I could let Andrew be hurt because of me. I wouldn't. I made a promise to myself and I was going to keep that.
I saw a blur of back out of the corner of my eye and turned my head around to see Xavier's wolf charging at Mr. Dvais who was currently playing on the ground.
"I'm sorry Addison, but it's for your own safety." And with that evening around me began to spin before it all went black.
