《Her Calling》T W O

beyoncé ft. drake, mine.

I stepped out the shower and grabbed the towel, wrapping it around myself. Walking up to the mirror I stared at myself after swiping away the mist that had gathered.

Am I ugly? The thought had never crossed my mind but now that I've been rejected by someone who's supposed to be my soulmate, it plagues my mind. Bags sit under my eyes, very prominent against my light golden skin, they were dark and angry.

Do I want to find him? Will I be able to?

"Lera!" Amanda banged her hand on the counter, I jumped and looked at her confused. When did she get here?

"What?" I cleared my throat, exiting the bathroom and entering my room.

She followed behind me, "What in the worlds were you thinking about? I knocked, I screamed, what the hell?"

I tried laughing it off, "Nothing, sorry I was just –"

"Jeez, did you get any sleep Lerato?"

My hands immediately went up to touch my face. I hated this, Amanda wouldn't let it go, I knew she wouldn't. If I leave this room with this secret I would surely celebrate. The worst part is I hadn't even thought of a good enough excuse, I didn't think about the bags that would be under my eyes from the lack of sleep. Also. Honestly eyes, I miss one day of sleep and this? Way to fucking go.

"No, I didn't. I'll explain some other time I'm really not interested right now." I went for the passive aggressive route.

Her eyes went wide before she sobered, "Okay, uhm, we have to gone soon. Apparently the Royals have 'things to do,'" She rolled her eyes and made air quotes, "As if we buy it, who do they have to see besides each other? But anyway, point is please hurry up I'd love to go to our bakery."

Another reason we don't see the Royals is because they have their own town within their gates, it's not just the castle. It's an entire gated town, they don't do their own shopping but if they wanted to they could. I like to believe that the workers within the gates has seen the Royals. I don't see how they could have never, Kenneth seems like a man who would do things himself and surely when Theo and his siblings were younger they wanted more than just the castles backyards to play. And they probably wanted to go to the bakery too and such, it made no sense to me that they would trap themselves within the castle with an entire gated town.

I wondered a lot about the Royals as a child and unfortunately most of my question are still unanswered because no one knew the answers to my questions. I blame that on their ignorance, how do you not want to know more? The mystery of it all lures me right in.

After dressing in a black spaghetti strap tucked into navy high wasted jeans and pink Timberlands, Amanda and I made our way to the bakery. She was in black Adidas track pants and white spaghetti tank with white Superstars.

As we went I couldn't help but look desperately to find him, to smell him. All my attempts went to waste though, he was no where in sight.

I smiled when I could smell the freshly baked pastries from the bakery, there was no better smell. Anything that was food related that gave off a huge yummy aroma was heavenly unmatched.

"Maybe I should have had breakfast first." I thought out loud.

Amanda shook her head, "What? What better breakfast than pastries?" Amanda scoffed, "I bet you Dan is already there."

"Probably her breakfast too." I laughed.

As I pushed open the door a light jingle was heard, notifying the baker of our entrance. I took a big whiff of the store, my stomach dancing in delight. I looked around and wanted to scream for everything. It all looked so good.

"Welcome." The lady behind the counter smiled at us both.

"Morning." Amanda and I chimed, earning a squeal from the far side of the store that held bar stools and a counter for those who want to sit, enjoy some coffee and have their pastries.

"Took you guys long enough." Danica said as she walked towards us, her mouth moving to the rhythm of her chewing. Little specks of chocolate spotting the corners of her plump lips.

Danica was a pale, short blonde with the reddest plump bottom lip. Her bright green eyes wrapping you up with her words and her blonde locks cascading down heightened her eyes. She was dressed in a white sundress and white heels. If you found Danica van Heerden's feet in anything other than heels, please. Give me a call, that is something I need to see again.

"Sorry, all my fault." I apologised.

Amanda awarded me with a face, "Well, that was easy, I thought we'd at least have five minutes of blame shifting." She joked, I simply rolled my eyes in response.

Amanda and I got a bunch of food to satisfy our sweet tooth then sat with Dani at the table she had occupied. Enjoying the way the Summer sun shone upon us. Even with the heat and humidity we all had our cups of coffee besides us. Reminiscing on old times.

We weren't that old, all going on twenty-two this year. None of us had our birthday in the summer. I had mine in autumn and the girls both having theirs in spring. Meaning for the time being we were all twenty-one.

We were a very likely pair of friends, with Amanda being the Beta's daughter and Danica the Warriors daughter. The Gamma's son was our friend too but he had his own clique, so he was rarely with us. Our clique branched out to wolves of no ranking but for obvious reasons – they are of no rank so aren't invited – they weren't here.

Just as Danica was telling a story about how her older brother was an idiot the bell jingled and a man and woman stepped inside the bakery. The lady behind the counter smiled warmly and greeted the pair as she did Amanda and I. The pair greeted back and ordered their pastries, the girl noticeably being the sweet junky of the pair. She had her arm wrapped around the male's and was speaking very animatedly to him. He nodded and slipped his arm free turning in my direction, cup in hand, however, when he saw me he stiffened.

My blood boiled, the jerk still wouldn't look me in the eyes, how does he even keep avoiding them anyway? The girl seemingly not noticing the change in his demeanour, questioned him "Are you not making hot chocolate anymore?"

"No, you were right. It's too hot." He turned and collected his goods instead, "Let's go to the park rather." He grabbed her hand and led them out.

"This again?" Amanda snapped.

I had heard her voice but not the words that had escaped Amanda's mouth, "Huh?" I managed as I was still looking where he was standing.

"You. You're zoning out," Her following words directed at Dani, "She did this earlier, took a bang on the counter to get her to look at me."

Still not engaged in this conversation I stood up, "I'll be back." I walked out the store and scanned the area, searching for him. I took no more than to steps before I was called.

"Here." His voice sounded annoyed.

I turned the corner and there he was, eyes on the ground and hands in his pocket. No signs of the female that was hanging off of him just a moment ago.

I glanced behind me as though I'd figure out why he was waiting here,"How did you know I'd come out?"

He raised a shoulder, "Just a hunch."

"Who was the girl?" The question left my lips before I could even think the words.

He laughed, "Nobody to worry about." He said smoothly.

I wish I could tell if he was lying, but even if I could tell, I would believe him either way.

He was my soulmate, we were destined to be together for eternity. We were linked and chosen to be together by the Moon. He was my other half.

"Okay." I looked up at him but he still wouldn't look at me.

"Come." He turned and started walking, I followed behind him, he suddenly turned ever so slightly reaching out his hand for me to grab.

My eyebrows shot up and I looked up at him, puzzled. Did he want me to – "Take it." He said, gently.

Slowly I reached out my arm and he intertwined our hands. The jolts igniting from our connection were instant, I nearly yelped from how intense they were.

They ran from my hand up my arm and straight to my heart. From there it spread all over like a firework, tingling my other arm, legs and spine. I smiled like an idiot before looking up at him. It was quite the height difference.

My breath hitched.

He was staring at me intently and I heard her, my wolf, she purred; Mine.
