Umiko's POV
"Sakura, point B."
"Sasuke, point C."
"Umiko, point D."
"Naruto, where are you?" Sensei asked into the mic.
"Point A."
"You're slow, Naruto." He said. "The target is moving! After it!" We all moved forwards and hid behind a tree.
"What's your distance?" Sensei asked.
"5 meters. I'm ready to go at anytime." Naruto assured.
"Same here." I said.
"Same." Sasuke said.
"Me too." Sakura said.
"All right." Kakashi sensei said. "Go!"
We all dove out of our hiding spots and towards the cat. "Got it!" Naruto wrapped his arms around it and it started to claw at his face. I reached out and the cat jumped in my arms, snuggling into me and me petting it on the head.
"Does he have a ribbon in its right ear? Is it our target Tora?" Kakashi sensei asked.
"Yeah, it has a ribbon. It's our target." Sasuke spoke.
"Good. Missions to capture the lost pet 'Tora' completed!" Sensei said.
"CAN'T WE HAVE A BETTER MISSION WITH MORE URGE OF A EMERGENCY?!" Naruto yelled so loud that me and Kakashi screamed and probably lost our hearing for about a few hours.
[AT THE HOKAGE OFFICE]
"Oh my sweet Tora-chan! I'm glad you're safe!" The Firelord's wife shrieked, while hugging the poor cat to death. I had to hold back the urge to take the cat and smack her.
"Now, for your next mission," The hokage said. "Pick herbs for a client....babysit a councilor's boy..."
"No!" Naruto yelled. "I don't want anymore of these missions! Give us harder ones!"
I couldn't help but agree. "Yeah! Come on gramps! Give us harder missions instead of these baby ones!"

"You fools!" Iruka sensei yelled who was next to the hokage. "You're still at the bottom and you need to go up by gaining experience from simple missions!"
"B-But! Everyday it's like blah blah mission!" Naruto argued.
I was about to go on but Kakashi sensei punch us both on the back of our heads making us fall forwards.
"Naruto! Umiko!" The hokage started to explain about the rank missions but me and Naruto weren't listening.
"Yesterday was beef ramen, so today will probably be miso ramen." Naruto said.
"I might have pork ramen today since I had miso yesterday." I admitted.
"Listen!" He yelled.
"S-Sorry." Kakashi sensei apologized.
"Jeez, gramps! Everyday you always lecture me! Me and Umiko aren't the pranksters anymore!" I nodded agreeing with him.
"....Alright. I'll give you a C-Rank mission. You will be bodyguards for someone." The hokage decided.
Naruto stood up quickly. "Really? Who?! A feudal lord?! A princess?!"
"Wait Naruto. You can come in." The door opened and the first thing I smelt was sake.
My nose wrinkled. "What?! It's just a bunch of snot nosed kids! And you with that idiotic face, are you sure you're a ninja?!" He yelled in disbelief.
Judging from his voice, he's probably half sober and is old.
Naruto started to laugh. "Which one with the idiotic face is he talking about?" We all lined up and it was Sasuke, Sakura, me, and Naruto.
"I'll kill you!" Naruto yelled as he was held back by Kakashi.
"Naruto! You can't attack the client." He scolded.
"And you! The blind one, are you sure you can protect me?" He looked towards me.
"Yes." I assured.
"Very well. I am Tazuna, a veteran bridge builder, from the land of waves, and I expect you to take me home safely, even if it costs your life." He explained.
"Good. We will meet at the front of the gate in an hour." Sensei said.

Cultivating Earth [Hiatus]
[This fiction is on indefinite hiatus. I'm currently acting as a 24-hour caregiver for my step-father who had a massive heart attack. I apologize for disappearing so quickly, but sometimes that's just life. I'll return as soon as possible. Sorry everyone!] Zhao Gang, after hundreds of thousands of years cultivating, has finally reached the penultimate threshold. He is ready to ascend to the level of True Immortal. Driven by the need for a place his enemies won't find him, Zhao Gang puts together an audacious plan. He has developed a revolutionary new formation which will allow him to ascend while on even the lowest planes. To avoid drawing attention, he has to choose a plane that is relatively desolate, however. He chooses Earth. Fast forward three thousand years. Zhao Gang discovers what his work has wrought - a cultivation-free culture that has delved the deep mysteries of creation - he can't help but think how this tiny little planet devoid of natural energy could affect the course of all creation. There's only one problem. For that to happen, he has to succeed in cultivating Earth. Notes: Chinese names should be ignored in the social context - they don't mean anything. Sorry for slaughtering such a beautiful tradition. This novel starts off slower than most. If the slow-roll isn't your thing, you might want to give this a pass. If it's not for you, I understand. Also, releases may be broken up into smaller chunks. The goal is 5k words, but definitely more than 4k. If you see a short release, be aware that more is probably coming. I'll be honest and say that I'm struggling with each new scene, if only because I want to balance the scope of vision with good pacing. I hope the work I put into it is worthwhile.
8 77Familiar In Chains
Familiar: A magical beast of one type or another which forms a magical bond with a mage who possesses a similar magical trait. Thus entering into a master-servant contract. Due to their abilities as a familiar, they possess all of the intelligence and knowledge of a human alongside the instincts and nature of a beast. Sourced From: My First Familiar Assigned text for third-year mages For young mages, obtaining their first familiar is a momentous occasion. Their magic forms a symbiotic relationship with their bonded mage, amplifying their's strengths and covering for their weaknesses. Often the strength of one's familiar is a key factor in how far a mage will go in their career. They are considered a necessity in the Empire of Afaron and the surrounding nations. Once familiars were caught in the wild and brought back for training and bonding. Eventually, however, the wild magic beasts were hunted to the point that they could no longer be found. Those that had been bred domestically would often produce magicless offspring. Nowadays the mages of Afaron know nothing of how familiars are bred, raised, and tamed. Once every three years, the Order of Beast Tamers come down from their mountain strongholds with caravans loaded with familiars purchased by noble families and magic academies. The Beast Tamer's generosity hides a dark truth. If you can't find a magic beast, make one. (Warning: Mild Nudity)

8 184The New God’s Representative
I was given a one-a-trillion chance opportunity to reincarnate into a fantasy world by a god. The actual chances are probably even lower — I mean, how would you even calculate the chances of being in my frankly ridiculous situation? In any case, the deal we made seemed pretty good; at least hope so, seeing as I’ve forgotten most of it along with the memories of my past life. Now, I’m a baby bird monster in a world with magic. I can see my Status as if I were an RPG character. And running with the RPG theme, my main Quest in this world is to become its strongest entity or titular God. I have a couple thousand years to do it or else the laws of reality itself will erase my existence. But, hey. That’s exactly what I signed up for, right?
8 114A Nation of Distances (possibly a dystopian love story)
Michael lives in a toxic macho world with extreme male hierarchy. When he gets a weird rating that makes his place even more problematic he's forced to choose a fiancée at a Wife School, and he slowly discovers more about the other side of the great divide between the sexes in The Nation. If only the world would stop being so complicated... On the other side there's Megan, who's more interested in books than in marriage, and the unpredictable Eliza who seems to have a connection with Micheal already. Will they be able to cross the distance and become friends against all the rules of their own world, or will they just be crushed? Are positive relationships between men and women even possible? And is there a way to change the world or is that just a naive thought of a silly wimp? 'A Nation of Distances' is a slightly dystopian dialogue-heavy drama set in a low sci-fi future setting about the war between the sexes, disconnect and friendship. The genre will fluctuate in between more slice-of-life parts and soft sci-fi drama with possible romantic elements, with alternating lead and switching perspectives once more of the main characters are established. Content Warning: Certain concepts and scenes might be disturbing and/or triggering to some, even though the story itself won't be extremely heavy most of the time. Sexism as a double-edged sword destructive to both sexes is an important part of the story, but so is friendship.Note that all descriptions of persons and places are purely fictional and made up by the writer, and any resemblance with anything in the real world is a coincidence, since the real world is not supposed to be dystopian anyway!
