I didn't want to fight Eidis because I didn't want to hurt her. But the look of shock on Sylvia's face when Delta Osvald called out for me, made my feet move on their own accord.
I was easily the best fighter in my class. But that doesn't mean I'll still be better than the rest in a few weeks. All I have is a head start because Gramma has been training me since I was a child.
So I couldn't get too cocky, even with just Eidis. I wasn't intimidated at all while walking ahead in front of so many people, but I didn't let my capability get to my head.
Eidis, on the other hand, was doing a really bad job of hiding the slight tremor in her fingers as she held her hands tightly behind her back.
"That's right girl. You better be scared," Ima said, to which she received an internal eye-roll in response.
"Only hand-to-hand combat is allowed. Any other means of attack or defense will immediately cause defeat. Try to use the drills we've practiced, and keep your movements quick, clean and accurate," Delta Osvald advised us.
Both of us nodded our heads and moved towards the center of the training field where everyone stood to watch.
I mean, ya'll don't have your own training to get to?
Neither the Delta nor Sylvia said a word about how everyone stopped what they were doing, waiting to witness a fight between two people who've always hated each other passive aggressively. Although Eidis has been far more vocal about her feelings these past couple of weeks.
I looked at her take her fighting stance in front of me, and I could immediately tell this girl wasn't going to play fair.
Her stance was clearly ready for an attack, as she couldn't afford to lose in front of Sylvia.
Maybe I should let her win this.
A growl resounded in my mind. Ima was getting angry.
As soon as the Delta motioned for us to start, Eidis jumped to attack me.
As she moved to punch me in the stomach, I shifted her arm to another direction, playing defensive. She tried again, this time for my face, only for her hand to be deflected again.

Frustrated, she tried to kick my feet from underneath me, but I twisted her arm with one hand, causing her blow to weaken and barely touch my leg.
I let go of her, waiting for what she would do next.
Her movement was highly predictable, and that made it easier for me to play defense. Hopefully she'd tire herself out before I made a move to attack.
This back and forth went on for a while to the point where sweat had started to roll down her forehead, and I stood still, awaiting her next move while she tried to catch her breath again.
I took that second to look at the Delta and Sylvia who stood at a distance. Sylvia's face showed agitation while Delta Osvald seemed genuinely bored.
I looked back at Eidis, as she readied herself for another attack.
She tried punching me again, but this time when I pushed her right hand away, her left hand came up to scratch my face with her longer than allowed nails.
I could feel the sting of the mark that was sure to form from near my ear to my chin.
I was sure that could've disqualified her from this fight, but I didn't call it, neither did the Delta.
I could feel Ima's irritatation rising.
The fact that she was able to cause me slight pain gave Eidis confidence. She came back, this time wrapping her fingers around my short ponytail, and pulling down hard, enough to give her leverage for a punch right on my face.
I couldn't react in time as I didn't expect an illegal move like this, and she punched me quickly twice on the face before I held her hand tight to stop her.
I kicked her legs so she could let go of my hair, and her knees immediately buckled, allowing me to free myself from her grip on my ponytail.
The metallic taste of blood on my teeth felt good, and I could feel an excitement burn through every little place that hurt.
As she tried to get up again, I kneed her in the chin, hearing her jaw crack as she let out a yelp.

I immediately took a step back.
I didn't mean to do that.
Eidis held her jaw, her face showing immense pain.
"Well I did," said Imadis in my mind.
An anger suddenly burned through my chest, and I went to Eidis, lifting her to stand on her weakened legs so she'd take a fighting stance again.
I wanted to hurt her again.
Her eyes were still teary from the pain in her jaw, but she stood up again to fight, her eyes now lit up with fire.
She screamed as she ran towards me, her arms outstretched, leaving her torso completely unprotected.
"Too bad," Ima said.
I kicked her hard in the side, making sure it was enough to break a rib. But it was probably even harder, as she near flew from the impact, falling down towards my left, and clutching her side in pain, tears falling from her eyes continuously.
I didn't mean to hurt her like this. I didn't want to hurt her like this. And as she slowly stood up again, I realized that I wasn't the one in control anymore.
Ima had been fighting this fight ever since Eidis landed her first punch.
And Ima was going to finish it.
I tried to block Ima out for this moment, but I couldn't even seem to reach her.
Suddenly I felt like I wasn't in my own body, rather I was in someone else's. And as I saw what was happening before my eyes, I couldn't do anything to stop it.
My body kicked Eidis' legs, so that she fell before she could properly stand. And once her head hit the ground, my legs rapidly kicked her near where I'd done enough damage already.
As I watched the hazy scene unfold before me, my own screams echoing in my mind to stop, I saw Eidis's form go limp, and felt arms around mine from both sides pulling me away forcefully.
I struggled in the arms of Delta Osvald, as he pulled me away from Eidis's barely-breathing self.
"Rayne, come back!" the Delta screamed in my mind.
I lifted my legs up, curling my body so I could somehow kick him in the face. I knew it was impossible for my human form, but I was desperate to get out of his hold, and all I wanted to do was stop Eidis from breathing anymore.
An animalistic growl escaped my lips as I saw Sylvia come to Eidis's side, trying to get her to sit up, stand up, and all I wanted to do was hurt them both greatly.
Words escaped my lips.
The words sounded deep, hoarse, loud, and most definitely weren't mine.
Ima's voice was terribly angry, and by the look on Sylvia's face, terrifying.
I felt the foreign, yet immense urge to sink my teeth into their skin and tear out their flesh, the taste of my own blood tasted like pure adrenaline on my tongue.
I moved my body in anyway I could to escape the Delta's death grip, but he was much stronger than me.
"Rayne you need to supress your wolf now! Come back!" he said again, his voice loud in my head, almost painful.
I tried to reach out to Imadis, but it was as if she was inside a soundproof box, and she couldn't hear a word I said.
I continued to wildly struggle till I felt a sharp pain in my right arm, that slowly increased like lava rushing through my veins.
I was burning.
I could feel my body slowly shut down.
As my movements slowed, I could feel as the poison flowed through my arms to my fingertips, and then all the way to my feet.
My body had stopped moving, and all I could do was feel a hot, sharp pain on the inside.
Then it reached my head, and everything went black.

The life of a teenage hellworlder
We've all heard of the trope that Earth is a deadly planet by galactic standard; and has thus honed humanity into a ruthless species bent on surviving at all costs. As it turns out, that trope is true. Sapient species that evolve on safe planets develop to be peaceful and compassionate - and the ones that do on dangerous ones become violent and selfish out of need - usually wiping themselves out. But obviously, not every violent species drives itself to extinction - resulting in them being feared and ostracized - including humans. The life of a teenage hellworlder is a sci-fi slice of life story that revolves mainly around Thomas, a sixteen-year-old New Britannian attending a Xeno high school, who befriends a lonely apex predator named Javqua. Getting written by two amateur teen writers, things may sometimes be inconsistent or be confusing - feel free to comment and point out these problems. Gore, profanity, and traumatizing content tags are only for minor events in the story and do not happen often. Chapters are around 1k - 2k words - pretty short, but that's because we're all busy with our own lives and school. Trust us - we would gladly upload 5k word chapters if we could. We tend to upload new chapters every Saturday or Sunday. Please consider supporting us on Patreon!
