《My Next Door Neighbour Hisses》Chapter 4

Days pass, and we haven't spoken since. Not that it bugged me, he was still unpacking and sorting things out the first time I saw the inside of his house. On the third of day after his arrival, a truck came by and took about an hour or so, Jeez, he must have a very large collection.

I kept on thinking how on earth he was able to fit all those snakes in that home. I often wondered how he manages to convince the landowner to keep that many. Though again, there wasn't any objection made by the landowner that we couldn't keep pets nor how many we could have in our homes. Adrian must make a lot of money from his work to look after his pets. Ugh, if only I wasn't afraid of snakes, I would gladly go over there and see them myself.

But I've always believed that I had a very bad relationship with snakes after my two accidents. That's why I rather stay away from them. I remembered all those times in primary school when they decided to take the whole class on a field trip to the zoo. Staying as a group, I was forced to go into the reptile building and see the snakes from there. I think the first time I was dragged by the teacher, no matter how many times I begged and told her that I hated snakes. Got teased about it by my other classmates. Scaring me with fake toy snakes which then I moved school and my typical mother gave a bad report about that school on social media.

It's all about fighting for position. Well, it is unlikely that we will find anything like here. Maybe when we leave this world we will. Heh, it will be interesting to see who our competition will be.

I clicked on my mouse to return to my Facebook page after reading a random article about humans being the dominant species and how we are destroying the ecosystem by killing off animals. I liked and followed many news and fun fact pages, so I often see random articles to read. Of course, mixed in with that are random videos of either, cute or stupid things. Sometimes I wonder if our generation is the smartest or the stupidest? I continue to scroll down when I stopped at an interesting article title:

What is this all about? I like to hear about mysteries and crimes news. They contain so much curiosity. It's like reading Sherlock Homes or something like that. Clicking on the link, leading me to the article page and I started reading it through.

What has baffled police was the condition of the body upon discovering it. The cause of the death was a broken neck, but her body appeared to have been digested. Many people believe that she was eaten by an anaconda, the world's largest snake before being regurgitated by the snake about a month before discovering. Police are still investigating the cause, but the family are glad to have found their beloved daughter's body."

Eaten by an anaconda? Well, that certainly rare. I mean, it is possible for a large snake to eat a human occasionally, but with an anaconda? The world's largest snake? That's rare. There are hardly any reports of anacondas eating humans. Only a simple defence attack. Yes, I may be afraid of snakes, but I know what I need to know to keep away from them.

However, I still wonder how she died. With the key facts already there. It appears that she was held captive for those months or so then whoever kidnapped her broke her neck and either fed her to an anaconda or the large snake found her and ate her, only to then regurgitated her body due to a possible attack or threat the anaconda was facing.

I remembered, when I was young, a large python climbed through my window when I was in bed. I thought it was a nightmare, so I hid undercovers. My eyes glance down as my fingers trace themselves over the faint bite mark.

When I realized it wasn't a nightmare, I got up and tried to run to the door only to be attacked and warped tightly by the snake. I remembered that I blacked out before my dad came in.

I shook off the memory before exiting the article. I never really want to think about that attack. It was so scary, I had nightmares about it for weeks. I continued scrolling down the Facebook page finding something else to distract me from my horrid memory.

phone message tone went off. It was Adrian.

'Hey, I'm finished moving my stuff. I was wondering if you'd like to go out for lunch. You know, show me around town, if you'd like?'

Wow, from being his little helper to now becoming a tour guided. I'm certain now that he'll soon have a large debt to pay for helping him. But how could I refuse a

Just be wary of him.

Damn it, why did I have to remember that?
