《His Angel - Klaus Mikaelson》Chapter 35 - 3x18

"When I woke up I thought you were gone," Klaus complained as he stampeded down the stairs.
"Sorry, I was just really hungry," I apologised, already in the kitchen and spreading jelly on my bread. "I'm a big breakfast person."
"So you thought you could just help yourself to our kitchen and food supplies?" Kol strode into the room.
"Oh, I-I..didn't think to ask you. I'm so sor-"
"Oh stop messing with poor girl," Rebekah sat down at the table. "Of course you're allowed to use anything here. You don't need to ask."
"Yeah I was just joking," Kol chuckled.
"What are all of you doing here?" Klaus pinched the bridge of his nose. "I thought I would be able to have breakfast in....you know...private."
"Oh, c'mon Kaitlyn, he wants all of us to leave," Kol said cheekily, getting up and pulling me and Rebekah out of the room.
"No! Just you two," Klaus pointed to Rebekah and Kol in extreme frustration.
"Ahhh," Kol smirked. "You should have been more specific brother. Apologies."
"The urge to dagger that boy is growing," Klaus hummed under his breath after the two had left.
"Calm down," I laughed, winding my arms around his neck. "They want to get a reaction out of you, and you're doing just that."
He leaned in for a kiss, but I gently nudged him away. "Morning breath," I reminded him.
"First of all," he said indignantly. "I don't care about your breath. And second of all, vampires don't get morning breath, much less mighty hybrids."
"Well, oh mighty hybrid. Go make me some tea, and then I'll consider kissing you," I crossed my arms with a smile.

"I've got the tantalum," I burst back into the Mikaelson house, panting.
You would really think that angels had more stamina in human form. Oh well, I was out of shape.
I frowned at the lack of noise in the house. Then from far away I heard a yell of pain. Thinking it was Klaus, I dashed towards the noise, only to find that I was completely wrong.
Hanging from the ceiling by his wrists was Damon, and Rebekah had a long knife, craftily cutting along his major arteries. He looked up when he saw me, communicating with his eyes that he needed help.
"Well... look what you've caught," Klaus stepped in from behind me. "If you're trying to bleed him of vervain, don't you think it would be easier to hang him upside down?"
"What the hell are you doing?" I demanded angrily. "What did Damon do?"
"What gives you the impression that I did anything," the raven-haired vampire managed to croak out.
"Because it's you," I said matter-of-factly.
"He manipulated me," Rebekah said calmly. "And now he's going to pay. Don't worry Kaitlyn, I'm not going to kill him."
"Kaitlyn?" I heard a familiar voice of disbelief, and my eyes bulged when I saw Bonnie walking out from another room.
"What are you doing here?" we both asked at the same time.
"I slept over," I said at the same time that Bonnie said, "I'm undoing the linking spell for the Mikaelson's."
"WAIT, YOU SLEPT OVER?!" Bonnie practically bellowed when she processed my words.
"Bonnie, that's hardly the important point right now," I waved my hands. "I think I'm linked with the Mikaelson's."

"What?"
"A few days ago I collapsed in Liam's apartment for no reason. And I later learned that Alaric daggered Kol," I explained impatiently.
"Is that enough persuasion for you to help us willingly?" Klaus stepped in, and Bonnie huffed.
"Of course it is," she groaned. "I'm going to need time though. And Kaitlyn, you trust them?"
"Absolutely," I answered immediately, and Klaus smiled affectionately, then saw Bonnie's expression and changed his expression back to business-like.
"You want to go downstairs now?" he whispered after Bonnie went back into her room. "You know, to talk with Liam?"
"Okay," I replied, feeling slightly queasy at how the roles between Liam and I were now reversed.
"Don't worry Angel," he slipped his hand into mine. "I'll be right beside you the entire time."
∆ ∆ ∆
"FOR THE LAST TIME!" I yelled. "Where have the Augustine headquarters moved to?!"
"He's not going to answer if we just talk to him love," Klaus said into my ear.
"I don't want to do that yet," I crossed my arms. "Not if I don't have to."
"You know, you two are about the least threatening torturer's I've ever met," Liam spoke up conversationally, and Klaus growled, veins protruding from beneath his eyes.
"You want to see threatening?" he snarled, flashing his fangs out.
"Jeez, tell your dog to back off sister," Liam grimaced, angering Klaus even further.
"Klaus, stop," I tugged at his arm in vain. "Step out and relax. Let me take care of this."
Klaus gave Liam a menacing look, before hesitantly stomping out of the room. Liam smiled as the door slammed and smirked at me.
"Well, you certainly know how to handle him. Now how did pathetic Kaitlyn Paige manage to have a hybrid wrapped around her finger? You know he'll leave you as soon as he knows you further."
"Shut up," I commanded, but he didn't listen.
"Everyone leaves you Katie, why should he be any different?" Liam grinned, but I jutted my chin in the air, defiantly ignoring him.
"Since you're not going to answer my questions, we'll do this the hard way," I said through gritted teeth, and pulled the tantalum out of my pocket.
For a mere second, apprehension flashed through his eyes, but he masked it with a blank expression so quickly I was sure I had just imagined it. I took a step towards him, turning the sharp tantalum over and over in my gloved fingers.
Even through the thick gloves, I could still feel the slight burn at the material, but it was nothing compared to what Liam was going to feel. I had spent the morning sharpening one end of the metal, and so now it resembled a stake of sorts.
I inched the metal towards his cheek, allowing him to feel the sizzle before I grazed the tip along his cheekbone. He hissed in pain and jerked his head as far away as he good, but obviously forgot that he was restrained.
I pressed harder, just until I drew blood, and then pulled away. Liam was panting heavily, trying not to let me see that he was in pain, but failing.
"It hurts doesn't it?" I pouted, and he looked the other way. "What you did to me was way worse."
"Are you forgetting that you cut my wings off?" he rasped. "Now that's pain that it unimaginable. I should show you sometime."

"Hmm, I think you'll be too dead to show me anything," I said sweetly.
"I'm going to kill you!" he snarled. "Screw getting your powers, I'll drain you so fast with the sword that you'll feel just like mother before she died."
My hand almost jerked out of its own accord, stabbing the tantalum above his rib. He yelled in pain and I twisted it while it was still inside him.
"Were you saying something?" I challenged, and he remained quiet, straining against his restraints.
"STOP!" Liam finally yelled after 30 seconds. "Aren't you going to interrogate me again? That's kind of how it works!"
"Oh yeah, I was having too much fun. Where have the Augustine headquarters moved to," I crouched so that I was face to face his him.
"Baltimore," he spat out.
"How do I know you're not lying?"
"You don't," he said cooly. "You'll just have to go there and find out."
"Good, we will," Klaus burst into the room. "Let's go love. We'll deal with him afterwards."
"Hey! I answered your questions! Now let me go!" Liam yelled.
"That wasn't the deal!" I yelled back. "You're stuck here until further action."
"You're doing exactly what I want," he barked. "You're killing them for me, makes my job easier!"
"Why would you want them dead?" I stopped in my tracks with Klaus impatiently pulling at my arm.
"They screwed me over," he said lowly. "They're not giving me back my wings."
"Yeah, well, that's what Augustine does," I said coldly. "I'm glad you finally learned your lesson. See ya."
And then Klaus and I left, leaving Liam screaming in rage after us.
∆ ∆ ∆
Klaus and I had decided to go to Baltimore in a few days time. Klaus already had gone there with his vampire speed and said that he did indeed find a suspicious looking building. It seemed that Liam was telling the truth.
We would plan our attack in the next few days.
I decided to leave the Mikaelson house with an exhausted Bonnie, who had finally succeeded in unlinking all of us. At least there was one less factor in my life that could kill me.
We were now walking down the street towards my apartment, where I would go home and she would walk further to her house.
"How's the situation with Alaric going?" I spoke up, trying to think of a topic of conversation.
"Well, the fact that he has a psychotic killer inside him that only comes out when provoked and murders people is a little alarming," Bonnie sighed. "But we're working on helping Alaric."
"He doesn't deserve this," I tried to comfort her.
I had never really spoken much to Alaric Saltzman, but he seemed like a nice enough guy who had dealt with way too much misfortune in his life.
"No, he doesn't," Bonnie replied.
She was about to say something else when her phone rang. She picked it up to see that it was Elena. I couldn't help but listen in.
"Bonnie, where have you been?" Elena asked in concern.
"Klaus has Damon," Bonnie said quickly, and I uncomfortably looked the other way.
"Kl-Klaus should be dead," Elena stuttered and my head snapped back up. "They should all be dead, we just killed Finn."
"What. did. she just. say," I muttered lowly, rage surging through my body.
"No, Elena. He forced me to do a spell that unlinked all the siblings. And Kaitlyn was linked as well, I had to do it. So... he's still alive."
"That won't be for long," Elena said angrily, and hung up the phone.
"Did she just say she tried to kill all the Mikaelson's?" I tried to keep my fury under control.
"Kaitlyn, I..."
"And you knew about this?" I questioned angrily.
"I didn't know when she was going to try to do it, but... yeah... I did," she avoided my gaze.
"Well, now me and her are going to have a little chat," I growled.
"I don't think that's a good i–" Bonnie started, but wings sprouted from my back and I shot up into the sky, ready to slap the living hell out of Elena Gilbert.
∆ ∆ ∆
"You meddling idiotic little wench!" I yelled as I practically banged open the door of the Salvatore house.
Elena looked up in surprise, having just put the phone down.
"K-kaitlyn, what are you doing here?"
"Teaching you to mind your own business," I snarled, walking towards her menacingly. "I have had it with your crap Elena! What gave you the right to kill all the Mikaelson's?"
"They tried to kill me," she said as if it were obvious. "You have to understand that. Look Kaitlyn, I know that Klaus has managed to win you over, but he's pure evil. All of them are. You need to believe that."
"Well, I don't," I snapped, cornering her until she looked slightly frightened. "You are going to stop plotting against them. They don't even care about you anymore."
"Really?" she raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms, taking on a brave persona. "So Klaus doesn't want any hybrids anymore? You know, you're not going to be enough for him."
"Shut the hell up," I hissed.
"He doesn't care for you," she enunciated with a roll of her eyes. "He is just manipulating you Kaitlyn. I'm trying to help you. I'm–"
Her eyes suddenly bulged as I had wrapped my hand around her throat, cutting off her words. Her hands flew up as she tried to free herself, looking at me with utter shock.
I couldn't control myself. All I saw was red, a feeling to defend Klaus at any costs. To defend Kol. To defend Rebekah. To defend Elijah. People that I had started to really care for.
I didn't want to be this violent person. My brain was screaming at me to stop, but my heart was filled to the brim with an icy poison. Telling me to kill the threat to the guy I loved.
Wait, loved?
For a second I froze, my grip loosening for a split second. Suddenly I was thrown backwards by Stefan, and Elena spluttered and coughed, clawing at her throat that was now free.
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!" Stefan roared at me. "I can't believe you tried to kill Elena! This was the last straw. I can't have you around us anymore. You're a danger to Elena, and yourself. I don't even know who you are anymore. "
"No, you've never known who I am," I whispered in silent rage. "Leave me and the mikaelsons alone, or you'll regret it."
I then turned and walked out of the door so fast that Stefan didn't get to reply.
∆ ∆ ∆
"You don't look happy," Liam commented annoyingly as I strode into the room. "Wait...what is that you're holding?"
"I've had a crap day," I said numbly, gripping the sword. "And the only way I can think to be happier is getting rid of one monster."
"Sister," Liam laughed nervously. "Think this through. You still need me, I can help you."
"You deserve what's coming," I said softly. "You were evil from the very start. You know, I actually loved you in the early 1850s. I thought, how come my brother hates me, what did I do wrong? You channelled every single insecurity that I still have today. I'm damaged, because of you. And now you're finally going to pay."
He didn't say anything, merely stayed silent and stewed over my words.
"I know that I have choice. I can either just kill you, or kill you and take your powers for my own. But I'm not going to do that. Because I don't want to be anything like you."
I unsheathed the sword, my bare hands screaming at the close proximity with the blade, but I didn't care.
"Goodbye Liam," I looked right into his obsidian eyes, which flashed with utter fear right before I gutted him in the heart.
He choked, hands unable to stop me because of the restraints.
Right before the light left his eyes, he managed to sputter, "I loved you too."
My hands were shaking as I processed what I had just done. I just killed someone. I just killed someone who shared the same blood as me. I just became the monster that I hd been trying so desperately to keep out.
"Kaitlyn, I heard some noise and..." Klaus's voice trailed off as he walked into the room and gazed at the scene. "Angel..."
"What have I done," I whispered. "What's wrong with me? What have I done."
A quiet sob escaped my trembling lips, and Klaus walked over to me in a flash, wrapping his arms around me. I pressed my face into the crook of his neck, now unable to stop the racking cries erupting out of me.
"What have I done," I repeated numbly.
