《His Angel - Klaus Mikaelson》Chapter 34 - 3x16

I couldn't shake the sinking feeling that something bad had happened to Kaitlyn. I had located her with one of my many witches, but was still confused why she was in a strange apartment right outside of town. I recognised it as Liam's apartment. I had been there before, when he was working with me.

But that was months ago. I would never work with him again, especially after finding out that he had planned on killing Kaitlyn. I must say, I'm glad he's dead.

I couldn't let anything happen to her. I wouldn't. She was too important.

And even though she refused to admit it, I knew I meant something to her as well. I still couldn't believe the event that had taken place only a few nights ago. I could still smell the scent on her skin, the feeling of her body pressed against mine, her soft hair brushing my face as she slept peacefully next to me.

Oh how I wished that would happen again.

What the hell is wrong with you? I tried snapping myself out of it. I would not become this pathetic soft gooey person who's world revolved around a girl. I refused.

And so I ceased thinking about her until I reached the apartment. I raised my leg and kicked the door open effortlessly, but froze at what I saw inside.

A very familiar man was dragging the limp body of Kaitlyn across the floor, and currently on the phone with someone. I couldn't hear her heartbeat.

"Yes yes, I have her right now. Relax, a deal's a deal, doctor. You can keep her for a week while I try to get the sword. Then we're done."

"What. Have. You. DONE!" I roared, an overwhelming rage taking over me as I rushed towards him, knocking the phone out of his hand and breaking it.

I backed him into a wall, my hand around his throat, gripping so hard that he sputtered for air. I felt my veins protruding out from beneath my eyes, and my fangs were out in a snarl.

"Tell me she's not dead," I whispered slowly while Liam attempted to get free. "Tell me, you DIDN'T KILL HER!"

I released my grip a little so that words could escape his mouth. Liam shoved me off in annoyance, walking back to Kaitlyn's unconscious body.

"Well, I did kill her. And technically, she is dead," he said matter-of-factly.

"You're dead," I growled, preparing to snap his neck.

"Wait!" he yelled before I got too close. "She'll wake again."

"What the hell are you on about?"

"The sword is the only thing that can kill her," Liam rolled his eyes as if he were annoyed I didn't understand. "She's only temporarily dead. Happy?"

"No, I am not happy!" I barked. "I'm going to rip you apart limb by limb until you are a bloody pile writhing in pain. And then, only then, I will end your life with the sword."

"Hmm, that's nice and all, but I actually need to get going now," Liam said unaffectedly, going to grab Kaitlyn again when she suddenly awoke with a gasp.

"Hmmm, I think Paris for sure," I laughed quietly, pulling the soft covers over my body, shivering slightly from the open window. "I've always wanted to go the city of love."

"Wherever you want to go, I can take you," Klaus said gently, whooshing over to close the window and then crawling back in bed. "I've been almost everywhere."

"Okay, enough bragging!" I rolled my eyes playfully. "Where did you live before here?"

"New Orleans."

"Oh right."

"We could go there one day. I could show you the music, the art, their culture. It's beautiful," Klaus murmured, fingers closing around my wrists and pulling me on top of him.

"I wonder what they'll say," I whisper to myself, and at Klaus's questioning glance, I continued. "My friends. I wonder what they'll say when they find out I slept with you. I'm scared that they'll be mortified."

"Are you mortified?" Klaus asked quietly.

"No! Of course not," I answered quickly, surprising myself at the certainty in my voice. "I don't regret it for a second."

"Good," he smiled, pressing his soft lips against mine.

I sighed against his mouth and ran my fingernails down his chest, emitting a light gasp from him. His hands trailed down my sides and gripped my hips, fingernails digging in slightly at the intensifying kiss.

I broke apart after a few more seconds, turning around and falling on my pillow.

"Tired?" he asked and I nodded, exhaustion causing my eyelids to droop.

"You're bed is SO comfy!" I exclaimed. "If I knew this before, I would have fallen for your charms way earlier!"

Klaus chuckled in bemusement, before fixing the covers we had made a mess of just a few seconds ago.

"Goodnight Angel," he mumbled, kissing my temple before laying back down on his side.

A smile spread across my face right before my eyes closed shut.

I awoke with a gasp.

I was sure I had been dead. In fact, I was almost 100% certain that I had been dead. So then how were my eyes opening right now? The last thing I remembered was Liam deftly snapping my neck.

"Kaitlyn!" I heard a hushed cry of relief and looked up to see Klaus striding towards me. "Thank god you're alive."

"What's happening?" my voice came out small. "What the hell just happened!"

I stood up to glare accusingly at Liam who was trying to shrink into the shadows. Klaus gripped my shoulders to make sure I was stable. With one hand lifted up my chin and examined my face.

"How do you feel?" he asked, his eyes searching mine in worry.

"I'm fine. At least I think I'm fine." I whispered. "What I don't understand is how I'm alive! Where's Liam?"

"The sword is the only thing that can kill you," my brother spoke up quietly, and I whipped my head around to see him standing in the corner.

"Then what were you doing?" I shrieked. "What was your brilliant plan, huh?"

"I was going to drop you off at Augustine's while I got the sword. Then we would do a nice little ritual which would hand me your power, and then I would finish you off," he explained calmly.

"W-why are you telling me all of this?" I stammered.

"Well, it's not going to happen anymore because your idiotic boyfriend ruined it all!" Liam yelled in anger.

"I am going to murder you," Klaus roared at the same time I said: "He's not my boyfriend!"

I gripped Klaus's upper arm in an attempt to stop him, and he looked down at me with a sigh.

"I could snap off his arm for you right here and now," he whispered, and I grimaced.

"I would rather have his head snap off, and in my apartment," I whispered back.

"That would be more convenient," he replied. "All right, can I do the snapping though?"

"Yeah sure."

"EXCUSE ME!" Liam's obnoxious voice interrupted. "I'm right here!"

"Shut up," I snapped, not even looking up in his direction. "I'm trying to have a conversation here."

"You know Augustine is going to be wondering where I am," he protested. "They're going to find all of us! This plan of yours is destined to fail!"

"Shut him up Nik," I nodded as Klaus who was happy to oblige.

The hybrid whooshed over to Liam and effortlessly snapped his neck. I sighed in relief. He then looked at me for further instructions.

"Can we actually keep him in your mansion?" I asked. "You seem to have more equipment for torture."

"Bonnie said that you went to his apartment hours ago Katie! What happened?" Caroline's enraged voice said over the phone. "Are you okay?!"

"Other than running into Liam, being dead for a few hours, and then having Klaus snap his neck for further torture, yeah, I'm completely fine," I said brightly, shrieking a little when Klaus took a sharp turn with the car.

"Wait, what?" I could hear Caroline doing a double-take. "Liam's dead? You were dead? Klaus is there? HUH?"

"I'll explain later!" I sighed. "Just meet me at Mikaelson's place in 5 minutes. I know it's short notice, so how fast can you get there?"

"Umm, I'm actually kinda sorta already there," she said quickly.

"Why?" I asked in confusion, then gasped when I realised. "Oh my gosh! Were you a certain other blondie canoodling?"

"Excuse me?" Klaus spoke up looking alarmed.

"Looks like Rebekah swings both ways," I laughed, delighted in Klaus's astonished yet slightly supportive expression.

"Love you too Nik!" I heard her loud voice say from the other end of the receiver.

4 and a half minutes later we arrived at the Mikaelson's mansion and Klaus helped me lug Liam's body inside.

"Ooh who is he?" Kol asked curiously as soon as we had walked in. "An ex-boyfriend of yours?"

"Ew, no," I gagged. "He's my brother."

"Ah good, I was almost worried that I had competition," he winked at me.

Klaus cleared his throat extremely loudly. "You do have competition Kol. Now get out of my sight before I decide to dagger you again."

"Bloody hell, relax!" Kol put his hands up in surrender. He then gave me one last smile."See you later darling!"

I just laughed, enjoying the simple drama of the Mikaelson's, so carefree compared to the one I was dealing with right now.

Klaus and I dragged Liam all the way to the basement and then chained him up accordingly so that he couldn't leave. I told him that I would pick up some tantalum that evening, since it was hard to come by.

"You can sleep over you know," he was telling me as we walked back upstairs. "The schedule tomorrow is simple. Wake up in bed together, have some breakfast, and then have a nice little chat with Liam. You know I have a huge appetite when it comes to torturing. Besides, your friend Caroline is already here."

"I love that idea," I smiled, standing on my tiptoes to give him a quick kiss.

Before I was able to pull away, he wrapped his arms around my waist to deepen the kiss. We started quickly walking up the stairs, ignoring the whistles coming from the other residents in the house.

I drowned everything out, and focused only on Klaus.
