《His Angel - Klaus Mikaelson》Chapter 29 - 3x10

It was like fire on fire, my thoughts focusing on how addictively he invaded all my senses. My fingers were clasped around the back of his neck and his hands trailed down my sides and now rested on my hips. After a few more seconds of intense kissing, we separated.

"Woah," I breathed. "Did that really just happen?"

"Would you like a replay?" he smirked softly.

"I–"

My voice was cut off with the sound of his phone ringing. He cursed filthily and picked it up, halfway turning away from me.

"Stefan! Miss me already?" Klaus said in fake cheer, and listened in silence to what Stefan replied.

"You what?" he growled, his voice dangerously low. "I will kill you and everyone you've ever met."

My eyes widened a little at Klaus's words. Oh well, it was nothing compared to the usual empty threats he made hourly. He hung up the phone and furiously put it back into his pocket. He then yelled in anger and ran a hand through his short locks.

"What happened?" I asked tentatively, almost scared to know the answer.

"Stefan has kidnapped my family," Klaus said through gritted teeth. "It's amazing how evil he can be without his humanity."

"What? You mean Rebekah and Elijah?" I asked in confusion. "How?"

"Them and my other siblings," Klaus explained. "I need to go."

"What other si..." I trailed off as he had already vamped out of the apartment, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

I slowly lifted my fingers to my lips, not quite believing what just happened seconds before Stefan had called him. I didn't even know if I was happy that Stefan had interrupted us.

What on earth was I doing?

I couldn't go around kissing murderers!! Sure, a lot of psychopaths in this town seemed to be hot, but that didn't justify ANYTHING!

I also had some concerns about Rebekah and if she was okay. I didn't understand how Stefan could have abducted an original vampire. The only way that would actually work was if she was daggered, and Klaus definitely hadn't. But why would one of them dagger her?

And Stefan had his humanity off, so how was he angry enough to take revenge on Klaus? Or perhaps he didn't have his humanity off anymore?

Whatever the heck was going on, I honestly did not have the brains to figure it out. I was way too tired for this. I needed to sleep. The next morning I planned to go the Grill and do a bit of investigating.

∆ ∆ ∆

The sun spilled through the windows, waking me up way too early for my taste. If I was able to, I could sleep until 12:00 easily. I grumpily rolled out of my bed and tried to make a list of what I was going to do today. This is what it contained:

1. Find out where the hell Rebekah is.

2. Figure out my confusing feelings for Klaus.

3. Somehow annoy Elena

4. Start brainstorming on how to make sure that Liam is actually dead.

The last step was really worrying me. Ever since I talked to my mother, I couldn't help but worry if she was right. I didn't know how it would be possible, but could it be? Could Liam somehow still be alive? But if he was, why hadn't he done anything yet?

When I opened the door to leave, I was surprised to find a small parcel on the welcome mat. Hesitantly, I took it back inside the apartment and put it on the kitchen table.

See, the problem with having a crazy life is that you can never be too sure on how many people are trying to kill you. Was this thing radioactive? Was it going to somehow kill me? I don't know. But it was possible.

Oh well, I liked to live on the edge.

I opened it and closed my eyes, preparing myself for whatever gruesome fate I was going to face. After a few seconds, I realized nothing was going to happen and looked inside the box. On top of whatever was inside, was a small note. The initials on the bottom were K.M.

Klaus Mikaelson.

I picked it up and let my eyes quickly scan over it.

Sorry I had to leave so suddenly. I'm hoping to see you again soon.

- K.M

P.S. Turn the card over after you've seen my gift.

I reached into the box and pulled out....an asthma inhaler? What the hell?

I turned the card over and stifled an eye roll as I read what he had written.

You seemed a bit out of breath after our kiss. Thought you might need this.

That annoying little jerk.

I soon after left the apartment and headed towards the Grill to try and complete the first task on my list. Find out where Rebekah was. The source I was going to was Stefan. And I knew at least Damon was going to be at the Grill, and that was a place as good as any to start.

When I arrived I was surprised to see two other people there which I had not been expecting. Elena was hanging back in a bit of fear as Klaus and Damon were engaged in a tense and heavy conversation. No doubt he was here to do the same thing as I was.

Looks like I could multitask. I would do number 3 on my list. Annoy Elena.

I walked over to her and her eyebrows raised slightly as my outfit. I looked down and realized with a bit of a flush that I hadn't exactly changed out of my sleeping shorts and shirt. Oh well.

"Do you enjoy stabbing people in the back?" I asked cooly as I sat down next to her.

Her body snapped to attention as she looked at me. "S-stabbed? You know?"

"What are you talking about?" I rolled my eyes. "Whatever. I know Stefan took Rebekah. Tell me where he's keeping her."

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said indignantly, crossing her arms across her chest. "I haven't seen Stefan in ages. His humanity is off, remember?"

"Yeah... I'm not so sure about that," I cocked my head to the side. "He's definitely angry enough to kidnap Klaus's entire family. Did you know he apparently has a ton more siblings? I'm betting they're as attractive as him."

Elena scrunched her nose in disgust. "Why are you helping him?" she challenged. "You can't possibly think that he'll do something for you in return. Or are you stupid enough to care for him?"

"What I do is none of your business," I drawled. "Now hurry up and tell me, Elena. I don't have all day."

"I stabbed Rebekah in the back. Literally," she then said coldly. "And she deserved it. All of them deserve to die. Can't you see that they're terrible people?"

"You little b–" I began, ready to punch this Gibface when I felt two hands on my shoulders.

"KAITLYN!" Damon greeted nervously. "So nice to see you!"

"Get off of me Damon," I ordered quietly. "Let me guess, you're a part of this as well?"

He pinched the bridge of his nose in exasperation. "Look Kaitlyn, I get that you're confused, but you don't have to worry. Stefan's not going to hurt them. Not if Klaus cooperates."

"You know, you're lucky that I need your little girlfriend for my hybrids," Klaus growled at Damon as he strode over to us. "Otherwise I would snap her neck before you even blinked."

"I for one actually think you have enough hybrids," I piped up and Elena scowled at me.

"What is your problem with me? You've hated me for some reason ever since we met?" she accused.

"I'm not getting into this right now," I raised my hands in surrender. "I'm out. I'll find some other way to finish my list!"

"What list..." Damon trailed off in confusion as I stalked out of the Grill.

I heard heavy footsteps follow after me and I turned around in frustration, ready to yell at whoever wouldn't leave me alone. But when I saw that it was Klaus, I calmed down a bit.

"I'm so angry at them!" I said furiously running a hand through my hair. "GAH!"

"Relax Angel. I will get my siblings back," he said walking towards me. "Now let's finish what we were starting earlier, hm?"

I looked around to see I had conveniently walked behind the Grill where there was currently no one else. What was my obsession with walking into abandoned alleys?

But....I kind of liked where this was going...

STOP.

"Snap out of it Kaitlyn," I hissed to myself, then looked at Klaus. "Look, I don't know what this thing is that we have going right now, but it's not going to work. We are literally the most opposite people you can think of."

"Why? Because you're an angel and I'm basically the devil?" he then smirked. "Haven't you heard that opposites attract?"

He then walked closer to me, and I wanted to slap myself for liking the tingles rushing up my arms. Why did I feel this way?

His hand reached out to lean on the wall which my back was currently up against. With his other hand, he brushed the backs of his fingers on my cheekbone, causing me to basically go into heat.

God, I hated these hormones!!

"What are you doing to me.." I whispered, and my stomach fluttered when I saw him genuinely smile in happiness.

He leaned in and I closed my eyes in an almost eager anticipation.

"KAITLYN!" I jumped when I heard a familiar voice call my name and quickly shoved Klaus away.

"Damon?"

"KAITL– Oh, there you are," Damon said, then got a closer look at me. "Um...am I interrupting something?"

"You actually are mate. Get out of here," Klaus commanded darkly.

"No can do. Alaric got hit by a car Kate. He saved Jeremy from basically killing himself," then the raven-haired vampire dramatically said, "I wonder what would compel him to do that?"

I spun around to Klaus who sheepishly looked down at the ground. My fists clenched in anger as I realized what he had done.

"Why would you do that?" I shrieked. "You can't just go around trying to KILL PEOPLE!"

"I was just trying to get my family back," Klaus argued and I scoffed.

"There are other ways to do that! I wanted to help you! God, I can't believe I was about to let you kiss me, AGAIN! Let's go, Damon."

I stomped past Klaus who attempt to blubber something in protest but Damon had helped me by vamping us away.

"You're taking me to Stefan. Now," I ordered.

"Yeah, I guessed you would say that," Damon scratched the back of his neck. "And I will. But first, you and Klaus have kissed before?!"

"Shut up Damon."

∆ ∆ ∆

"Why does she have to come with?" Elena whispered to Damon in a volume that I could totally hear.

"Yeah actually," I spoke up. "Why do I have to come?"

"Because it's time for you to be part of the gang again," Damon stated matter-of-factly. "You've done enough of finding yourself already. Time to work again!"

"Yay."

"She's probably only here to give Klaus information," Elena sneered. "Damon, you know this was a bad idea, right?"

"She's not going to tell him where his family is. Right Katie," Damon clenched his jaw and forced a sugary smile at me.

"I'll think about it," I put a hand on my hip indignantly. "Maybe if you free Rebekah, I'll keep my mouth shut."

"Did you and Klaus really kiss?" Elena questioned, and I glared at Damon.

"You told her?!"

"Sorry!" Damon held his hands up in surrender. "Truth is, I'm a big gossiper!"

"Yes, we did. Do you have a problem with that?" I asked the brunette in exasperation.

"He's killed thousands of people," she shook her head in disappointment. "I would have thought you knew better Kaitlyn."

"You do realize your ex-boyfriend is a blood-thirsty human-killing vampire who's murdered hundreds of people as well, right?" I deadpanned, and she crossed her arms, refusing to answer. "Yeah, that's what I thought."

Eventually, we arrived at a small, abandoned, and shabby house that was literally in the middle of nowhere.

"Stefan?" Elena called out, while Damon hung around outside the house

"What? Scared of a bunch of witches?" I teased him.

"They don't like me," he explained sheepishly.

"Shocker."

"Just wait outside," Elena ordered while I followed her inside. "STEFAN!?"

"Go away!" Stefan roughly barked.

Rude.

"Stefan. We need to talk," she pleaded, and I pushed past her in impatience.

"OI!" I bellowed. "Get your bony butt down here NOW so we can have a civilized conversation. You don't want this to get ugly."

There was silence for a few seconds where Elena raised her eyebrow in doubt, but then we heard a whoosh and Stefan appeared in front of us, trying to his the fact that he was slightly bemused. But mostly irritated.

"What."

"You need to give Klaus his family back," I said, and he scoffed.

"Yeah. That's not happening. I'm not giving Klaus anything," Stefan argued.

"Klaus compelled Jeremy to stand in front of a speeding car. Don't you get it? Stefan, he's not gonna stop until he gets what he wants!" Elena yelled angrily.

"He doesn't care," I clenched my fists, realization burning in my gut. "He does not give one crap about this Elena."

"That's not true," she whispered. "Stefan, please. He's gonna kill Jeremy!"

"Not really my problem," Stefan shrugged cooly.

"You can go to hell!" she hissed, sending him a hateful glare before running out.

"I know your humanity is on Stef," I said softly, and I saw a glimmer of surprise in his eyes, but nothing else. "It doesn't have to be this way. Please, just reconsider this."

"You don't know what you're talking about," he said gruffly, turning away.

I touched his shoulder lightly, and he stopped. I walked over so that I was facing him, but his head was to the side, purposefully trying to avoid my gaze.

"I don't know what your plan is," I said quietly. "But just know that you're hurting a lot of people in the process. Including Elena, who I don't care much for, but I know you do. You need to stop before it's too late."

He remained silent, but I could see his jaw clenching as he mulled over my words. Eventually, after a few seconds, I pulled him in for a hug. He was stiff at first, and I was just hugging his broad chest, but then he tugged his arms out of my embrace and hugged me back.

"I'll see you later," I said, before walking out of the house.

"What took you so long?" Elena asked grumpily as Damon waited curiously for my answer.

"He's still there," I told them. "Barely, but he is. I'm going back home."

They nodded, and I started walking back in the direction of my apartment.

"Hey, Kaitlyn!" Elena called after me, and I turned my head towards her. "I'll undagger Rebekah tonight. I promise."

"Thank you, Elena," I said sincerely before I kept walking but a slight smile spread across my lips now.

I couldn't wait to see my friend again.

∆ ∆ ∆

I was nestled under my covers, idly scrolling through celebrities' Instagram posts with my mind blank. Klaus's soft lips on mine wouldn't escape my mind. The way his hands had burned imprints on my hips, the way my breath came short every time I thought about him.

The rational part of me was telling me that I was crazy for even considering a relationship with him. It would never work out. We were on different ends of the long spectrum.

So why did the 10% of my irrational brain shiver at his touch, smile when he smiled, blushed when he called my adoring names?

What the hell was wrong with me?

I needed a better distraction.

As if right on cue, my phone dinged with a message from an unknown number. I recognized it as the one I had been talking with a few days ago. The one I didn't want to hear from ever again.

Unknown:

Did you really think that there wouldn't be any consequences Ms. Paige? You will pay for the deaths of our workers. Do not think that there is a way out of this for you. There isn't.
