《His Angel - Klaus Mikaelson》Chapter 24 - 3x04

We arrived in Chicago a day ago, and to my surprise, Klaus allowed me a day where I could go sightseeing and promising that I would return. He said I needed a chance to unwind, and perhaps come to my senses and tell him what the hell that shady evil drink I was drinking was. His words.

The day had gone pretty well, and I arrived back at a place called Gloria's bar, which is where Klaus told me he would be. He was sitting at the front, his glass drained and talking to Stefan. I walked up to them and the conversation ceased, both of them looking up at me.

"Okay, storytime's over," Klaus grumbled.

"What were you talking about? Find out anything?" I asked benignly.

"Yes, unfortunately, I'm going to have to wake up my sister," Klaus muttered in frustration, and my eyes widened.

"You have a sister?" I questioned. "How many other unknown siblings do you have that we don't know about?"

"A lot."

"Okay, well why is she daggered?"

"She angered me a century ago," Klaus shrugged. "But now Gloria says I need her to contact the Original Witch."

"Why would you need Rebekah for that?"

"The Original witch was my mother, and Rebekah has the necklace to contact her."

"Wait, you didn't tell me that!" Stefan interrupted, looking annoyed.

"Anyways," Klaus continued, completely ignoring Stefan. "All we're waiting for is for her to wake up. She's a bit dramatic."

"I need a drink. A real one," Stefan suddenly got up, raising my suspicions. "Katie, come with me."

"What are you doing," I hissed as he pulled me out of the back exit, and into a seemingly empty street.

Stefan lets go of me and charged at a figure I didn't notice was there before. "What is wrong with you!" he yelled, and I realized it was Damon.

My stomach churned, and I turned around to go back inside, when Elena stepped in front of me, blocking the way. I glared at her, but she merely put a hand on her hip and dared me to push past.

"Get. Out. Of. My. Way," I whispered.

Behind me, Stefan and Damon were yelling at each other. "She was supposed to die in the sacrifice and she didn't. Now Klaus can't create any new hybrids. His witch is seconds away from figuring that out. Tell Elena to go home and forget about me," Stefan emphasized.

"Tell her yourself," Damon gritted his teeth, pointing at Elena. "Nice of you to say hello Lyn. The last time I remember seeing you, you were trying to rip my heart out."

"I don't want to talk to you, or her for that matter. Leave us alone," I commanded, but he just shook his head.

"Nope!"

He grasped my wrist and tugged me into the bar, marching over to where Klaus was sitting. I tried to dig my heels into the ground, knowing this would end badly, but he just pulled harder, and I was forced to stumble along after him.

"He seems to like you, so maybe this won't end in my death," Damon uttered, and I rolled my eyes.

"I see they've opened the doors to the riff-raff now," Klaus spoke up, without turning around, so Damon sat down next to the hybrid, while I stood idly to the left.

"Oh, honey, I've been called worse."

"You don't give up, do you?" Klaus smirked, but not looking happy in the slightest.

"Give me my brother back...You'll never have to see me again."

"This isn't going to work Damon," I drawled. "Just leave, before something bad happens to you."

"And what the hell happened to you?" he challenged. "It's like your humanity is off, though I don't know if that's possible for angels to do. Why are you with him, huh? You weren't even forced to."

"I wanted to see some bloodshed," I replied nonchalantly. "And I was bored being the useless Kaitlyn back at home."

"Well, I am torn," Klaus interrupted, looking back and forth between me and Damon. "You see, I promised Stefan I wouldn't let you die, but how many freebies did I really sign up for? And clearly, you want to die, otherwise, you wouldn't be here, so..."

"What can I say? I'm a thrill-seeker," Damon's ego wouldn't back down.

Klaus extended his hand, and gripped Damon by the throat, the vampire's blue eyes bulging. He lifts the Salvatore up a few inches, with just his one arm, a slow and sadistic smile spreading across his face.

"Oh, dear, what was that? I'm boozy, so you'll forgive me if I miss your heart the first few tries."

Klaus stabbed Damon in the stomach with a toothpick, obviously missing while Damon grunted in pain.

"Ohh! No, that's not it. Hmm."

He stabbed him again, in the middle of the chest. Damon groaned again, most likely regretting his mission of aggravating the strongest creature on the planet.

"You want a partner in crime? Forget Stefan. I'm so much more fun," Damon tried to negotiate, seeing as the toothpick was now angled towards his heart.

I took a step forward, wanting to put an end to this when Klaus threw Damon backward. He crashed on top of a table, breaking it, and landed on the ground on his back. Klaus then walked over, ripped a part of the chair off as a makeshift stake, and crouched over Damon.

"Okay, that's enough!" I raised my voice, going over to them and trying to take the stake out of the hybrid's hand.

"Stay out of this Angel," he warned, and I could see Damon raising his eyebrows, even in this near-death moment.

I ran to the bar, trying to catch the bartender's attention, a tall skinny woman with white hair. "Please! You have to stop them!"

She turned around and stretched out her hand, and I spun to see the stake lit on fire. Klaus dropped it with muttered profanities.

"Not in my bar. You take it outside," the woman who I assumed to be Gloria demanded.

"You don't have to negotiate your brother's freedom. When I'm done with him, he won't want to go back," Klaus looked into Damon's eyes, hoping this had scared him enough, before letting go of the Salvatore and walking away.

"Kaitlyn..." Damon staggered into a standing position, looking at me with hopeful eyes.

"Don't. Don't make this any harder than it has to be. Just go."

His head hung and he trudged slowly away, sparing me one last glance before the door closed, leaving me alone.

"There has to be more to this dress," Rebekah protested.

"There's not," Klaus deadpanned, and I withheld a chuckle.

She steps out of the fitting room, wearing a tight black dress. "So women in the 21st-century dress like prostitutes, then."

"Pretty much," I shrugged, and her gaze rested on me.

"And who are you again?" she cocked her head, her blond hair swooshing around.

"Kaitlyn Paige," I flashed a quick smile. "And you're Klaus's sister. I feel bad for you. I've had to spend time with him for only a few months, so I can't imagine how you tolerate him."

"Hey now!" Klaus spoke up, but Rebekah grinned.

"I like her."

"Are we done?" Klaus crossed his arms in an offended manner.

"And why are you so grumpy?" Rebekah raised a perfectly manicured eyebrow. I was starting to realize that literally, every feature on her was perfect, just like Klaus.

Wait, did I really just say that?!

"I needed one thing from you for my witch to find out why my hybrids are dying, one thing. Your necklace. And you lost it," Klaus commented.

Stefan cast an anxious look at me, having told me that the necklace he needed was currently around Elena's neck. A very alive Elena.

"I didn't lose it. It's just been missing for 90 years," Rebekah demanded, turning towards Stefan.

"So what do you think?"

"I like it," he shrugged, obviously not liking it.

I let out a laugh. "He doesn't like it."

"I said I liked it," Stefan protested.

"I can always tell when you're lying," Rebekah reminded her, then motioned for me. "Kaitlyn, come help me choose out another outfit."

"Nice one. Good work," we heard Klaus grumble.

"You're the one who pulled the dagger out of her," Stefan replied.

"I heard that!" Rebekah called over her shoulder.

She leads me to another fitting room after choosing out a couple of outfits, with my confirmation. While she's slipping out of her clothes and putting on new ones, she looked at me.

"So, what's your story?" she asked. "What are you doing with that crowd? You don't seem like them. Stefan is a bloodthirst ripper, at least the only way I knew him, and Klaus is, well...Klaus."

"A few months ago I probably would never have agreed to this," I nodded my head. "But something changed. I started seeing things differently."

"Do you have a boyfriend? Or girlfriend?" she then winked at me playfully, and I laughed.

"No, there's no one interested in me."

"Why not? You're not hideous."

"Gee thanks Bex," I snorted. "Can I call you Bex? Thanks. It's more like I'm not interested in anyone at this moment. I want to have a real relationship, you know? Not one that's just based on sex. I get too emotionally attached. Of course, I want to have sex as well, I mean, who doesn't want that."

"I haven't had sex for a century," Rebekah realized. "That's going to have to change soon."

"What is taking you ladies so long?!" Klaus groaned, and we heard his footsteps near the dressing room, and then stop impatiently.

"Relax Nik!" Rebekah yelled. "Kate is trying on clothes as well!"

"Make sure to tell her to wear a tight, short, black one!" Klaus called, marching away.

∆ ∆ ∆

Eventually, we walked back to Gloria's bar, and I was wearing a hoodie and sweatpants, just to spite Klaus. Plus, it was very comfortable. I should wear this more often! At least it was black.

Gloria was using Rebekah to try and locate the necklace, looking peeved that we couldn't follow her one simple task.

"You left us," Rebekah noted petulantly when she spotted Stefan creeping back in.

"Yeah, sorry, I needed some air," Stefan feebly replied. "She's, uh, looking for the necklace?"

We all nodded, and Stefan pulled me aside. "You do realize he'll kill Elena when he finds out. You didn't even try to sabotage them?"

"I really don't care what happens to Elena," I said cooly.

"I don't know what's gotten into you, but just know, that one day when you're you again, you'll look back and have many regrets. By the way, Katherine misses you. I just talked to her."

"Like I already emphasized, I. Don't. Care," I ignored the clenched feeling my stomach felt.

"I found it," Gloria spoke up, and Stefan whipped his head up in alarm.

"So where is it?" Rebekah asked impatiently.

"It doesn't work like that, doll. I get images. There's a girl with her friends..."

"Yes, a dead girl with dead friends, if I don't get my necklace back," Rebekah made sure to mention.

"I'm going to need more time," Gloria explained calmly, and Klaus groaned.

"Let's just take a walk," I suggested, and Rebekah jumped off the table.

"Great idea!" she nodded. "I was just starting to get hungry."

We walked to an abandoned warehouse, where I went in a corner to drink another bottle of Hellcraft, while the others guzzled on some unfortunate humans. I heard a commotion from the three and walked back only to find them arguing, which was all Klaus and Rebekah seemed to do with each other.

"Will you stop making me out to be a brat? I am not a brat! Kate, you've met me, do you think I'm a brat?" Rebekah whined.

"Of course not. He's only saying that because it's the only way he can cope, knowing that you're better than him."

She smirked in satisfaction and crossed her arms, looking at Klaus. "See? Kaitlyn knows" what's up. And I know how much you care about her opinion."

"I don't know what you're talking about," Klaus said quickly, and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, ignoring the statement.

"I need to go," Stefan stood up, wiping the blood off of his upper lip.

"Where are you going?" Rebekah questioned.

"To write a name on a wall," Klaus answered for him, and then at our bewildered glances, added, "It's a long story."

Stefan was gone a while, Rebekah was going out to explore the new world that she had missed over the past decades, and Klaus was in the warehouse still, making plans for something. I had walked to the small apartment we had rented and was looking for my packed bag.

I was searching for my pack of Hellcraft bottles, but couldn't find it, my panic gradually growing bigger and bigger. I practically ripped the rooms in half trying to look for it, but with no luck. I opened the closet and sighed in relief when I saw the package. I eagerly grabbed it and opened it. But to my utter horror saw that I only had one bottle left.

This was only enough for 1 or 2 more days if I really restrained myself.

"No no no no no," I muttered to myself, looking back into the closet. "This can't be all there is!"

I had to get more. Somehow, I needed to retrieve more Hellcraft! But from who? I only got this from Liam, and he was definitely dead, and so were all his minions. I had to ask around, do something! But I didn't even know where to start.

I flung the bottle in rage, stupidly not realizing what I was doing until the bottle shattered, sending liquid running all over the wooden floors.

"SHOOT!" I yelled, trying to push the liquid in the bottle again, but even I knew that wouldn't work. "No!"

"What the hell are you doing?" someone asked, and my head whipped up to see Klaus standing before me, his arms crossed.

"Were you following me?" I growled, standing up slowly.

"Of course I was," he replied loftily, not even trying to deny it.

My rage swirled and I picked up the shattered bottle, throwing it at him with all my might. In his surprise, he didn't dodge it, and it lodged itself in his shoulder. He looked down at the bottle, pulling it out, and then looked back at me, his expression darkening.

Slamming the door, he walked up to me, pushing me against the wall with a hand around my throat. I gagged in shock as his fingers tightened, but not enough to completely cut off my air supply.

"That's it. Now you're going to tell me exactly what's going on," he commanded, his eyes turning amber.

"Why do you care?" I choked out.

"I don't," he snapped. "I can't have an incontrollable partner on my side."

"Go to hell!" I yelled, and I could feel my eyes darkening. "You don't know what I've been going through."

I kicked him between the legs, and he grunted in pain, but still not moving. I screamed in anger, and a small wave emitted from my body, knocking over the bookcase next to us. Great, the neighbors were probably going to come up any minute.

"I guess we're going to have to do this the hard way," he snarled. "Sorry about this."

"About what?" I asked in confusion, before he pulled me by my neck off the wall, and then smashed it back, effectively knocking me out.

∆ ∆ ∆

I awakened after who knows how long, my head throbbing. From what I felt, I was laying on a bed, and I could just make out a blurry Klaus and Stefan in front of me, both looking cross. I blinked rapidly, and then made a move to get off the bed, but saw that both my hands were chained to the headboard.

Kinky.

"Is this supposed to make me spill my secrets?" I said mockingly. "Well, I'm sorry to burst your little bubble, but I'm not telling you anything. Besides, don't you have more important things to do?"

"We could do this all day," Klaus smiled devilishly. "Couldn't we Stefan?"

"Klaus told me everything Katie," Stefan said sadly. "You can't hide any more secrets from me. Especially not when you're dangerous, to us, and to yourself."

"Oh please," I spat. "Like you care. Remember when you told me that I would never belong?"

"What?" Stefan spluttered. "T-that was ages ago. I apologized, and you forgave me, remember?"

"Maybe forgiven, but never forgotten," I said. "Don't you like me more like this? Where I can actually stand up for myself?"

"Alright enough!" Klaus interrupted. "Let me do the talking. Now, I don't want to hurt you, but I WILL if you don't start answering me."

"Give it your best shot," I dared, and he pulled something out of his pocket.

"I heard you have a weakness," he introduced, walking up to me. "Something called tantalum. It's very hard to find by the way."

"Get that away from me," I hissed, trying to slide aside, flashbacks of Liam's torturing skills appearing in my mind.

"Hmm," Klaus mused. "So looks like you are afraid of something. I was beginning to get worried. What happened to the sweet girl I talked to in the middle of the woods? Do you even remember that?"

Stefan looked confused, but I remembered it vividly. I had just seen my mother, and then Klaus walked up to me. Of course, at first, I only knew him as Nik, the guy who saved me at the Grill. But I had figured it out already by the time. He had shown vulnerability to me, a side of him that I liked way too much. Of course, I remembered that.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"I think you do."

"I was hardly sweet to you. Maybe you don't remember, because I was only insulting you after I found out who you were."

"So you do remember."

"You're not really going to use that on me," I pushed, almost eager to see what he would do.

"Are you forgetting who I am Angel? I'm Klaus Mikaelson, the Hybrid, the one that countless supernaturals fear. Why on earth do you think I would treat you any differently. Stefan, you might want to leave the room."

"No way in hell," Stefan replied obstinately. "We are just getting information out of her, not freaking torturing her!"

"Question number 1," Klaus rolled his eyes at Stefan. "What is in the bottles you drink every day?"

"Orange juice," I answered. "There's my big secret. I have an addiction to orange-colored things. Can I go now?"

Klaus sighed in disappointment and sat down on the bed next to me. He pulled one of my legs towards him, and I looked at him daringly. He took my socks off and hovered the tantalum right above the bottom of my left foot. I hissed as I could feel the edge of my skin burning. God knows how painful it would be if he actually touched the metal to the flesh.

"What's in the bottles Kaitlyn?" he repeated calmly.

"I told you. Orange Juice," I gritted my teeth, then yelled in shock as he made contact with the tantalum. "STOP!"

"Tell me. Now."

"Fine! It's something called Hellcraft," At their raised eyebrows, I continued. "Relax, it's not as bad as it sounds like. It makes me stronger, and allows me to shift easier."

"And it apparently also changed your entire personality," Stefan reminded.

"Yeah, it also has a numbing effect on my emotions. Basically, I only feel what I want to feel," I shrugged.
