《His Angel - Klaus Mikaelson》Chapter 8 - 2x08

1864 Flashback
I was going to my mother's room to check on her again, when I saw my brother coming out of the room, with a slow smirk on his face. His hand was gripping some weapon that looked extremely ancient and weird.
"Liam?" I asked tentatively, anxious to approach the boy.
Ever since our mother got sick, he had developed a crazy wild streak, often going blind with anger and lashing out at anything or anyone in his way.
"What do you want Kaitlyn," he muttered in disgust, basically walking past me.
"What were you doing in Mother's room?" I interrogated suspiciously. "You didn't hurt her, did you?"
"Now why would you be stupid enough to ask that?" he sneered. "Of course I didn't hurt her dummy."
"Whatever Gibface," I murmured under my breath.
"What did you just call me?" he stopped walking and looked at me furiously.
"Nothing," I mumbled in annoyance, but his hand shot out to grip my upper arm.
Suddenly he started hauling me away from our mother's door and into his room.
"I'm so sick of you thinking you can just prance around the house ordering people around. You're a woman, you have no power over anyone, so just accept it. You will not talk to me like that again, do you understand?" he snarled.
"Or what?" I said boldly, and his eyes narrowed, glinting sadistically.
He turned the weapon around, so that he was holding it by the blade, and didn't even notice the metal cutting into his skin.
Then he swiftly swung it through the air, and the hilt of it slammed into my cheekbone with an overwhelming force.
I cried out in pain as I crashed onto the ground, clutching the already forming bruise.
"Disobey me again, and I'll do much worse," he threatened, and I bared my teeth at him.
"You don't get to treat me like that!" I screamed, picking myself up from the ground and kicking him in his stomach.
He grunted in pain and dropped his weapon. I picked it up quickly, and held it in my hands, ready to wield if he so much as moved.
As soon as I touched it, a rush of power flowed through me.
Liam charged towards me, and I pivoted the weapon towards his chest, hitting it hard enough so that he was short of breath.
"You can hit me as much as you want," he panted. "But that won't change the fact that your nothing. You don't have a place in this family, and you never will."
The weapon shook in my hands as I tried to shake his words off. But they stuck like hot glue, as he named the thing I was most afraid of.
Suddenly the door busted open and Katherine stomped in.
"What's going on?" she demanded, taking in the situation.
Then she marched towards my brother, her back facing me.
"Did you hurt her?" she asked dangerously, and I think my brother actually gulped as he saw her murderous face.
"My sister just needed a lesson," he said stubbornly, and Katherine stopped talking.
I didn't see what she did, but I'm pretty sure I heard her hiss, and my brother screamed at the sight of her face as he dashed out of the room.
"Lyn! Are you okay?" she asked, walking over to me and touching the bruise on my cheekbone.
I winced at the contact and nodded my head. "What did you do to him?" I asked eagerly.

"Oh I just showed him who's boss," Katherine smirked. "I don't think he'll be bothering you again today."
I smiled. "I'm so lucky to have you as my friend."
End of Flashback
As soon as I woke up from my stupor, I saw a man leaning over Elena, sniffing her probably intoxicating blood.
"Please I'm hurt," she whimpered helplessly, looking up at him with fear.
We were laying on a raggedy couch, in a room that looked practically ancient.
"Just a little taste," he whispered creepily.
Elena screamed, but before he could get to her, a stern woman's voice called out, "Trevor!"
I sat up with a start, the loud noise properly shaking me out of the nightmare I just had.
"Control yourself," she hissed, eyeing Elena and then me. "Why is that other girl here?"
Trevor shrugged. "Our human said she was a witness to the kidnapping."
"Then why didn't he merely kill her? Or at least knock her out?" the woman wanted to know.
"He said that he saw strange scars on her back and that they slightly glowed when he struck her," Trevor explained, and I frowned in confusion.
My scars had glowed?
"My god you look just like her," the elder woman said in astonishment, gazing at Elena.
"But I'm not. Please, whatever you–"
"Be quiet," the woman ordered.
"But I'm not Katherine," Elena repeated urgently, sitting up. "My name is Elena Gilbert. You don't have to do this."
She sent a scared look back at me, but I just rolled my eyes. I was too annoyed with her to be scared at the moment.
"I know who you are, I said be quiet," the woman demanded, her strong British accent cutting across the room.
"What do you want?" Elena whined.
Suddenly, the woman flung her arm back and then swung it towards Elena's face. She backhanded the brunette so hard that she flew back onto the couch, now knocked unconscious.
"I want you to be quiet," the woman rolled her eyes, and then looked at me. "Is she always this annoying?"
"Pretty much," I responded.
After that, she left and was hurriedly talking to Trevor, while I impatiently waited on the couch for Elena to wake up. 10 minutes later, she stirred awake with a moan.
"Kaitlyn?" she whimpered. "Why are you just sitting there? Have you found us a way out?"
"No," I hissed. "Because unlike you, I have brains, and I don't want to get us killed. Also, don't you want to find out why they took you?"
"Are you mad at me?" she asked obliviously, and I swear I almost exploded in aggravation.
"Am I mad at you? Am I mad at you? What do you think Elena? You only used me in the plan to kill my only true friend I've made in 163 or something years!"
She looked uncomfortable and bit the inside of her cheek as she tried to come up with an answer. Finally, she just set her jaw in a stubborn gesture and stood up.
"Well if you're not going to do anything, I'm going to find out myself," she told me firmly and walked down the hallway towards the hushed voices.
"Elena," I hissed after her in panic, but she kept walking.
"This girl is going to get me killed," I muttered to myself, but nonetheless got up and followed her.

"It's not too late. We can leave the girls. We don't have to go through with this," I heard Trevor's anxious voice plead.
"I'm sick of running," the elder woman reminded him.
"Yeah? Well, running keeps us from dying!" the man protested.
"Elijah's old school. If he accepts our deal, we're free," the woman tried to calm down her partner.
My heart sparked at the unfamiliar name. I didn't know why, but I swear I had heard it through my century of traveling.
Elena stood in front of me and accidentally stepped on a creaking floorboard, catching the attention of our two captors.
"You!" the woman barked in annoyance, walking towards us. "There's nothing around us for miles. If you think you're getting out, you're tragically wrong. Understand?"
"Who's Elijah?" I asked boldly, and the woman looked at me in surprise.
"He's your worst nightmare," she whispered lowly, and then added, "Get your friend under control."
Elena looked at me in fright, and this time I reciprocated it, anxious to meet this Elijah fellow.
∆ ∆ ∆
After a few minutes, Elena gathered some confidence again and followed the woman into the room.
"Why am I here?" she questioned curiously.
"She's not going to answer your questions," I reminded her as I stepped into the room beside her. "Let's go back to the couch."
"You're friends smart. You should listen to her," the woman said.
"Can you at least tell us your name? And why you kidnapped us?" I asked desperately.
"Rose," she answered curtly. "And I'm just a delivery service."
"Yeah, we got that," I snapped, and then cowered a little under her glare. "Who's Elijah?"
"He's one of the vampires. The originals."
"What do you mean?" Elena asked again in confusion.
"It means he's one of the first vampires ever," I guessed, and Rose nodded quickly.
"Haven't the Salvatores been teaching you vampire history?" she asked Elena.
"So you know Stefan and Damon," Elena repeated dumbly.
"I know of them," Rose replied impatiently. "A hundred years back a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good ones. More of a sucker for the bad boys though, but I digress."
"Who are the originals?" Elena demanded restlessly.
I literally just answered that!
"Trevor and I have been running for 500 years," Rose began. "We're tired. We want it over. We're using you to negotiate ourselves out of an old mess."
"But why me?" Elena asked.
"Is it because she's a dopplegänger?" I asked at the same time.
"Yes, a Petrova dopplegänger. She's the key to breaking the curse."
"The sun and the moon curse," I realized, the whole plan dawning on me.
"You do know your history."
"What do you mean I'm the key? The moonstone is what breaks the curse," Elena stated.
"No," Rose enunciated. "The moonstone is what binds the curse. Sacrifice is what breaks it."
A feeling of alarm rushed through me, and I could tell it ran through Elena as well because she stiffened.
"Sacrifice?" she repeated, her voice wavering.
"Elena's being sacrificed because she's a dopplegänger," I clarified.
"Tell me more," Elena begged seriously.
"Captivity's made her pushy, eh?" Trevor walked into the room. "What d'you want to know dopplicious?"
I grimaced at the nickname as Elena said, "Who are you running from?"
"Is it the same person that Katherine Pierce was running from?" I asked suddenly.
Elena looked at me in shock, startled by the new piece of information.
"Yeah. The originals," Trevor answered, and my eyes widened.
Katherine made an enemy with one of the Originals?! It was a wonder she wasn't dead yet! Was it Elijah? Or one of the other ones?
"Rose and I angered them," Trevor then continued to say, and Rose cleared her throat. "Correction, I angered them and Rose had my back. And for over half a millennium they've wanted us dead."
"What did you do?" Elena asked.
"He made the same mistake countless others did. He trusted Katerina Petrova, the first Petrova dopplegänger," Rose answered for him, and I frowned at the use of her real name.
Elena gave me a pointed look then, but I ignored it, eager for more information.
"I helped her escape her fate, and now I've, we've been marked ever since," Trevor explained.
"Which is why we're not going to make the same mistake again," Rose paced across the room.
Then they ignored us for the next 10 minutes, causing Elena and I to walk back to the couch in the other ragged room. When we arrived, I saw a crumpled piece of paper in the corner, which I hadn't noticed before.
I picked it up, crumpled it open, and motioned for Elena to read it over my shoulder.
Stefan and Damon are coming for you guys. - B
Elena's eyes lit up in hope, and she took the paper from my hands, concealing it in her own and sitting back down on the couch.
Eventually, Rose came into the room and picked up a travel bag from the floor. She looked anxious and I could see sweat glistening on her brow.
Trevor rushed into the room after her, his movements frantic and unsteady.
"He's here."
∆ ∆ ∆
"This was a mistake," Trevor murmured, walking around in circles as Elena and I got off the couch and waited in suspense.
"No, I told you I would get us out of this," Rose promised him, trying to catch his flitting gaze.
"No!" Trevor yelled. "He wants me dead Rose!"
They continued to argue for the next few minutes before Rose ordered him to stay in the room, while she invited the newcomer in.
All of us lingered anxiously before we heard footsteps coming back into the room, and from the distance, I could see a tall man in an expensive suit striding towards the steps.
Elena turned around in apprehension, and at the sight of her, the vampire sped in front of her, causing her to flinch.
Her lips quivered and her eyelashes fluttered in fear as he bent down towards her neck, seductively inhaling her scent. It almost looked like they were going to kiss from the angle I was in.
Then he righted himself again, and said, "Human. It's impossible."
His voice filled the room with richness, and I tried to guess his accent, but it seemed like it was a mixture of many things.
Then he suddenly seemed to notice me and stepped towards me. I didn't flinch, wanting to appear at least braver than Elena in front of this intimating man.
He smirked slightly at my actions, before cocking his head to the side, and asking, "And who might you be?"
"Kaitlyn," I said firmly. "And before you ask why I'm here, their stupid oaf of a human kidnapped me along with Elena."
I was surprised at my confidence, and it seemed as if he was too, but he merely looked amused. Then he must have noticed the tip of my scars that ended on my shoulders and frowned in curiosity.
"What are these?" he whispered to himself, before forcibly spinning me around by placing his hands on my shoulders.
I gulped nervously as I felt his cold fingers trail down my back, and could tell he frustrated that he couldn't see the rest.
"Interesting. Is this why she was brought here as well?" he asked Rose, and she nodded meekly.
Then he took his hands off, and I turned around again defiantly.
"We have a long journey ahead of us. We should get going," he ordered, waiting for us to follow him.
"Please don't let him take us," Elena pleaded pathetically, but Rose wouldn't answer her.
"One last piece of business. Then we're done," Elijah announced before walking towards the sniffling Trevor, who hung his head in shame.
"I've waited so long for this day Elijah," Trevor blubbered nervously. "I'm truly, very sorry."
"Oh no, your apology is not necessary," Elijah said, walking around Trevor like a cat playing with its meal.
"Yes. Yes, it is. You trusted me with Katerina, and I failed you."
I could see how scared Rose looked, and even my gut was swirling with anxiety about what this man's fate might be.
"Well yes, you are the guilty one," Elijah commented slyly. "And Rose aided you because she was loyal to you. That, I honor."
My hands clenched as I could see where this was going. He wasn't going to let Trevor live, because it would show mercy, and that would be a weakness in other people's eyes.
He talked a bit more with Trevor, before standing in front of him and smiling.
Trevor closed his eyes in relief as Elijah granted him his freedom. I almost thought it was going to be okay. But then suddenly Elijah sliced his hand at Trevor's neck, and cleanly cut the head straight off, and with a spray of blood landed on the floor.
Rose let out a moan of grief and shock as Elena gasped. My hands were shaking, but I wasn't as startled as I could have been.
"You," she wailed, stepping forward in rage, but Elijah stopped her calmly.
"Don't Rose. Now that you're free."
Then he walked towards us and extended his hand. "Come."
"No! What about the moonstone," Elena managed to gasp.
"What do you know about the moonstone?" he stopped walking.
"We know that you need it, and I know where it is," I spoke up, causing Elijah to then stand in front of me.
"Tell me where it is," he ordered dominantly, but I shook my head.
"It doesn't work like that," I defended, and his lips tightened.
"Are you negotiating with me?" he mused.
He looked deep into my eyes, and I narrowed them in confusion. Was he trying to compel me? He must not have known that I was supernatural.
His jaw clenched in frustration, and walked over to Elena, trying to compel her. I knew he would find out about the vervain on her necklace.
He ripped it off and forced her to tell him the answer, and she had no choice but to obediently do so.
Suddenly we heard a clatter from the entrance, and Elijah turned around in bewilderment. "Who else is in this house?"
"I don't know," Rose said keenly, trying not to anger the man further.
Elijah gripped both of our arms and started dragging us towards the entrance impatiently. As soon as we came towards the door, a figure encircled us with superhuman speed, and Elijah let go of us, throwing us towards Rose.
"Up here," I heard Stefan's distinctive voice say, while Damon's soon followed with a sing-song voice of, "Down here."
Elijah rushed up the stairs, but then all of a sudden a stake shot through the air, burying itself through his hand. I winced as I imagined the pain of it, but it barely fazed him as he pulled it out in annoyance.
At the same time, Elena had disappeared, taken by Stefan, and Damon whooshed Rose and me away as well. He pressed us against the wall, a hand over Rose's mouth as he put a finger on his lips for us to be quiet.
"Excuse me!" Elijah called out. "To whom it may concern. You're making a grave mistake if you think you can beat me. You can't! Do you hear that? So I want the girls, on the count of three, or heads will roll."
One.
Two.
Three.
Then Elena rushed from the top of the stairs, and said, "I'll come with you. Just, please don't hurt my friends. They were just trying to help me out."
"I want Kaitlyn as well," Elijah reminded her, and I shivered at the mention of my name.
Damon looked at me in confusion, wondering why the Original wanted me as well. I guess he put the pieces together of why Elena got kidnapped.
Elijah zoomed up the stairs, and Elena visibly jumped at the sudden motion.
He frowned. "What game are you playing with me?"
Then from my slim point of vision, I saw as she threw a vervain grenade at his face, and he yelled in pain as it sizzled his skin. When he recovered, he growled viciously, and took slow and precise steps up the stairs, but not before Stefan started shooting him with wooden bullets.
They only managed to hold the man off by a bit, and I could see that he was obviously much much stronger than any ordinary vampire.
