《it's archaic》thirteenth day of october

Advertisement

☾︎ it was the thirteenth day of october,

you took the first flight home from vancouver,

the days were short and the nights were colder than before,

then i felt a chill that would i feel forevermore;

from that second on, you were the chatter over dinner as we played your old favorite song,

twenty years of trying yet it's still so hard to belong.

☾︎ you were more patient than the moon waning by your front door,

even if i tried i could never find a soul that deserved more than you;

leaning on the balcony,

your presence was a grayish blue,

someone the world wasn't privy to;

and i wonder,

what a brittle thing victory is,

leaves so fast that you

think you almost missed it.

☾︎ they say the television lies,

you were just a story they covered one time,

people forget, find mistakes and whine,

but it is all the same to me,

perfection, art, you and the sky.

☾︎ but as i remember it,

it was the thirteenth wait of october,

winter solstice, the daylight grew older,

a solemn cheer was heard in that moment;

you had won,

after all those battles and tournaments;

and perhaps still no

one will ever know,

but victory happens

as water turns to snow,

a simple thing just like

the lone star that glows.

a/n so i guess i have gone back to writing story tales for poems?

reference : this poetry is from the perspective of the sister of the person who moved away from their hometown in my poem "sky as mine" in this book.

- : about two friends who separated ways, told from the perspective of the friend left behind.

- : about persevering so hard to achieve all your dreams and still patiently waiting, told from the perspective of the friend who moved away's sister.

i hope you enjoyed this and thank you for reading!
