"lets do something" payton says, turning off his phone and throwing it away from him. i snuggle into the blankets and pretend im asleep, but i can't help but smile and look up at him when he kisses my forehead.
"like what?" i ask and wrap my arms around his waist. "hang out with the guys?" he questions. i nod and get up, walking over to the closet before picking out and outfit. payton was organising where to meet everyone and gets changed when everything is sorted out.
time skip (in the park)
"so kayla" sam says. i look up at him and nod, motioning for him to continue. there was another girl here, who was walking past and, rudely, invited herself and sat down with us. it was obvious none of us wanted her here and she couldnt keep her hands off of payton.
sam continues, "what have your past relationships been like? you dont have to answer if you dont want to, just curious" he says.
i nod and try to figure out how to explain. i started talking "i had a boyfriend, ex now, obviously, but he treated me really badly, he had anger issues and spent most of his time out at parties getting drunk, i spent a lot of the relationship mostly scared of him, after he hit me the first time. i eventually found out he was cheating on me so i broke things off with him, and then a week or two after that one of my mates asked me out and i dated him for a little bit, then we decided we were better off as friends, so we broke up. dont feel sorry for me though, yea it was a shitty feeling to get told you were useless and pathetic every day but it makes me all the more grateful for you guys and how well you guys treat me as my bestfriends and my boyfriend"

all the boys started to comfort me by saying things like "im so sorry to hear that", "im gonna kill him", "good on you for ending things", and stuff like that. i looked over at payton and he looked both mad and sympathetic. he grabbed my hand a sqeezed it reassuringly.
"so you just started dating a new guy a week after breaking up with someone" the bitchy girl says. everyone looks at her and i say a quiet "um, yea?" she scoffs and mutters something under her breath. "what was that, sorry i didnt here you" i say bitchinly.

When Ryn’s hometown is destroyed, will he be able to gather together the twelve Primeval Jewels in order to defeat the evil Emperor and save the world of Mid? A fan novelization of an amazing Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist, that currently releases at least one chapter a month. Epic in that this will be very long. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint!” (-Kandaj) YA in that this should be enjoyable to~13-year-olds and upwards. Some gore, some swearing, some sex, but nothing more than PG-13. JRPG-influenced / GameLit in that it uses lots of JRPG tropes, particularly from Final Fantasy. I’ve read a lot of fan Final Fantasy novelisations and you can basically think of this as a fan novelisation of its own Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist as a game... Progression in that the characters level up over time (though not with visible litrpg stat boxes). They grow in ability through training and experience, gain new skills, individually and as a party (think Chrono Trigger) and spend time discussing and stratgeising about how to defeat their opponents. Main protagonist from book three would definitely be able to defeat himself from book one! Ensemble-cast because we've got quite the roster of misfits here. The first volume is all from the main protagonist's POV, but it starts dancing between his and different POVs thereafter. Steampunk in that we’ve also got airships, steam trains, pistols and ambiguous ‘amber bars’ that function a bit like artificial lights… Romance in that there is lots of shipping here, a few love triangles, and you may be kept guessing as to who will actually end up together... Fantasy in that we’re in a vaguely pre-modern setting. We’ve got swords, magic, dragons, dungeons, monsters, all that good stuff. * "This story captures that Final Fantasy quality perfectly. Kiddy but also grim. The characters are great... Severely underrated and needs more favorites/follows.
