《Drinks For The Soul | Poetry》Of Taking:

Her words resonated clearly,

Like lightning over a calm-blue sky,

And I watched as she walked away,

Taking everything I had given.

Oh, the time she took;

Days better than yester;

My birthday,

Gifts greater than gold,

But less dear than drapes.

I saw it;

Like an otherworldly epiphany,

The gates closing,

Doors locking,

Do not enter, beware,

The ledge waited there.

And so I dangled,

My legs and arms flopping,

Like well-cooked noodles,

I didn't have her holding,

Me together anymore.

And I had to listen,

With my own two ears.

And then the sun spoke,

And the stars chirped,

And the earth moved,

And I knew what to do.

My wings grew,

A first pair,

Then a smaller second one too;

Because I still have my memories of you,

But there's more to me,

Than you.
