There's a spirit within me,
Shouting its plea.

Let me be mean,
Let me be smart,
Let me be stupid,
Let me be."
There's a spirit within me,
Who's as pure as the trees.
Who says "please" and "sorry",
And cleans up after parties.
There's a spirit within me,
Who wears a mask over its face.
Who says the inappropriate,
And sniggers at others.
There's a spirit within me,
Who can write wonderful worlds.
Who aces classes,
And is praised by many.
There's a spirit within me,
Who fails to string together sentences.
Who blubbers when asked to speak,
And often ends up blank.
There's a spirit within me,
And one in you.
They're not quite the same,
But one wouldn't dare disclaim,
They're from different flames.
