(y/n) POV: Only one day until the day I may wish I were dead. I can't help myself from imagining what it could have been like to be in his arms all day, his lips tangled in mine and WHOA! Get your thoughts straight (y/n)! I walked out of the tent, the light murdering my eyes for a few seconds. I looked around the camp in search of Felix and Pan. Nothing. Where are they? I thought, walking towards one of the boys.
'Hey!" I called out, "Do you know where Pan is?" A few of the boys tensed up, shaking their heads quickly. "Nope. Not a clue!" one answered, his eyes flickering across the surrounding camp. "Oh... uhm... ok." I was confused. I walked over to a log and sat down, slumping down. I took a deep breath, letting the smell of the trees fill my nostrils. I felt at peace, relaxed as if the world around was eradicated. That was until I heard a lot of rustling. I gasped, looking over my shoulder. I came to see Peter and Felix in conversion. They both looked in deep thought as they kept talking. I couldn't make out their words, but I knew it had to be something important if Pan looked tense. So the boys are acting strange and Peter doesn't look right... that didn't come out how I planned but it will have to do.

I spaced out, not listening to anything that escaped Felix's mouth. I have one day...not even until I- "Pan? Are you listening?" I jerked, realizing I was just staring at nothing. "Yes... what if it doesn't work?" He groaned, "I'm pretty su-"I growled at him, "No. You listen. If this doesn't work, I will personally slit your damn throat myself!" He sighed, finally shutting up. "She's looking." I raised an eyebrow, confused. "What?" "Y/N. She sees us." I slowly moved my eyes and only my eyes to see her. She was. "Is everything ready? For tonight?" My voice came out as a low grumble more than a whisper. "Mhm. Yes." He hummed. "Perfect." I turned on my heel and walked towards Y/N. God she is beautiful. I know that I have to tell her how I feel, but what if she doesn't feel the same? What if she never will? I smirked at her, looking her up and down. I smiled when a slight blush crossed her cheeks. I wonder if I make her nervous...

Why is he smirking at me? He doesn't like me... does he? Ugh false hope Y/N! He never will. I seem to always find a way to think that this... beautiful? Yeah beautiful boy will ever love me. I know he won't but I guess I just have an imagination. I looked up to see a dark, purple night sky. It was beautiful. If only- just stop. What do I even see in him?!?! Everyone was heading to their beds and hammocks and such. I knew I should probably get some rest as well. It might help pull me from my thoughts.
I quickly changed into my sleepwear, limiting my time to think about tomorrow. Climbing into my bed, I heard a psst sound. I glanced around the small room, knitting my eye-brows together. I shook my head and pulled the covers up to my chin. "Psst!" it was louder, a lot louder as if it were hovering above my body. I shot up, my head hitting something, followed by a thud. I shot my hand up to my forehead as I looked over to the ground. I heard a groaning sound that led me to see... Peter? He was sitting on the ground, rubbing his throbbing head. "Pan? What are you?" I raised an eye brow. "Come on. Follow me." He stood up and walked out of the tent. I followed him out. He stood at the side of the door, flashing a toothy smile. I felt my heart do a little flip-flop when he put his hand out for me to take. I took it as he led me into the abyss of darkness. As we walked, his fingers slipped between mine. My cheeks burned with fire as I blushed like an idiot. Thank God it was dark or he surely would have noticed. Peter stopped and turned to me, still smiling. His eyes flickered between mine and my lips. I bit my lip, attempting to control myself. I wanted to kiss him so badly. "P-Peter?" I stammered, trying to find words. It was like I didn't know how to even speak. "Y/N." he whispered, his gaze never leaving that of mine, "I- I have to show you something." I smiled to let him know I was ok with that. He returned the favor. He took my hand again and took me to the shore. I gasped, admiring all that stood before me. "Come on." He chuckled, pulling me down to a blanket that lay spread across the golden sand. I have to be dreaming. I closed my eyes for a moment then opened them again; it was all still there. A basket sat proudly on the piece, filled with gifts of chocolate and flowers. Out in the water were candles, flowing with the small tides as they danced across the shore side. I couldn't help but smile at the sight. He showed me to the basket as we sat down facing the candle lit water. It was amazing. He was amazing.

I couldn't believe I was doing this. Was I ready to do it? To tell her? Now she is sitting next to me and I can barely control the urge to just kiss her. It was almost twelve and so far things were going my way. I just gotta speak from the heart now. I turned to look at her, she is so beautiful. I smiled softly, taking in all her features. I had to make my move now. I had to. I took a deep breath. Here we go.

God I can't believe this is happening. It's just too perfect. I could tell Peter's eyes were on me so I turned to face him. "What?" I asked, raising my eyebrows. He smiled, releasing a breath of air. In an instant his lips were on mine, moving in a way that would surely send any girl over her head. I kissed back, my hands snaking up to his neck. His hands slowly made their way down to my hips, pulling me closer into him. Please don't let me wake up! We both pulled away, breathless. "Happy Valentine's Day, Y/N." he whispered, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "Happy Valentine's Day, Peter." I smiled, pressing my lips to his again. He kissed back, placing his hands on my cheeks. He stroked my cheek with the pad of his thumb. "Y/N. I love you." I felt my heart sink down to my stomach. "I love you too." I felt tears prick behind my closed eyes. I knew I wasn't dreaming, that he was actually saying this to me. He pulled something out from his back, a teddy bear. "You stole that from some kid didn't you?" I smirked, holding back a small laugh. "Technically I didn't steal it." He was so adorable. I giggled, rolling my eyes as I pushed him gently, laughing.

8 186The Designated: Out of Control
It happened quicker than anyone would have imagined. Multiple hurricanes were one thing. People had dealt with that in the past. But, like kids playing dominoes, one thing crashed into another. Areas affected by hurricanes needed resources all along the Gulf and East Coasts drew rescuers and resources away from other parts of the country. When wildfires lit up the Pacific coast and mid-west, those areas were already understaffed. Driven by hurricanes in the Pacific basin, uncontrolled wildfires burned through towns, destroying everything in their paths. Across the Pacific, Asia didn't escape. From the Philippines, across China, into Indochina, and Bangladesh and India. Typhoons and cyclones pounded the coasts and far inland. Widespread flooding forced millions from their homes and across international borders. Mexico was hit hard and thousands died in mudslides as Katia slammed into their East Coast. The refugees fled north and west. Rumours started that hundreds of thousands were headed for the US border. Instead of running out of steam in the southern US, several hurricanes tore up the eastern seaboard, devastating cities and renewing their strength before veering east across the Atlantic. Maria and Ophelia veered east and slammed into Europe, reaching as far as the Netherlands and Russia before finally dissipating. After that, too many weather stations were offline to provide any form of co-ordinated information or warnings. Wildfires in Portugal burned ahead of the storms, fanned by hurricane winds. They sparked wildfires leapfrogging across Europe, beyond any one country's ability to cope. Already uneasy from multiple terrorist attacks over the summer, anti-refugee groups seized the opportunity to stage protests across Europe. Some turned violent as they clashed with police forces. Several governments declared martial law to quell the rioting and enforce evacuations along the path of the storms. Rumour and speculation overwhelmed facts. Unrest spilled over into widespread violence. Then sickness broke out in the displaced populations. Within a matter of a dozen weeks, tens of millions died. In the coming winter months hundreds more would follow. The Designated Project was activated.
