I walked the crowded halls, my chin tucked down and my gaze avoiding everyone. I hugged by history book to my chest as if it would protect me. That's just not my luck. I let my long bangs cover my face until I was surrounded by three girls and the lockers that pressed against my back. "Please... I-I can't be late." I begged, my eyes locked with the tile floor. "Of course you can't! Oh that's right! You have an exam next hour!" the girl laughed, "Isn't it like 25% of your grade? Yeah better not miss it nerd!" The girls turned on their heels, hair flipping. I saw the clock and sighed. Exactly 30 seconds to get to class; there was not enough time. Not even if I ran. I did my best but the bell rang before I could get there. The door closed just before I got to the room. I groaned, I didn't have time to make this up. I had to study for the rest of these. The final bell rang and everyone flooded out from their classes. I saw the bullies, and tears swelled up in my eyes. They all laughed. "All you're good for is crying! You might as well just kill yourself and make everything easier for us. We matter. You, you're extraneous. We don't need you here." The kids that spectated just laughed, not one person stood up for me. I walked away only to be hit by a wad of paper in the back of my head.

I ran home as quickly as I could handle. I opened the front door and ran up the stairs into my room. I knew that no one was home. I threw my stuff across the room. I slid down the side of my door. Maybe they're right. Everything would be so much better if I was dead, lifeless. I let the tears stream down my face. I got up and grabbed the pair of scissors from my desk. I took a deep breath and aligned the sharp point to my chest. I closed my eyes, my breath shaky. I pushed the scissors closer to me. "It's not worth it..." I heard a voice. I opened my eyes, dropping the object I would use to take my life. I scanned the room for someone. A dark figure appeared in the corner of my room. "Who are you?" I asked, hurt evident in my voice. He walked towards me, all his features visible. He wore entirely green, with a smile. His greens eyes looked into my, taking in my emotions. "I'm Peter... Peter Pan." He spoke with a thick accent. He was quite attractive but there was no way he would think of me the same. "Like the book character?" I chuckled. "Let me take you somewhere where you will never have to feel lost or alone. You can be free from all of this ridiculous behavior knocked towards you. It will be better there, I promise." He stuck his hand out to me, as he stood at my window. "You're not even real." I whispered. He looked a bit hurt by my comment. "Y/n, trust me. You don't deserve this." I furrowed my eyebrows. How did he know my name? I inched closer to him. I placed my hand in his. Peter pulled me up to the window. "They're wrong. None of them deserve to know a beautiful girl like you." He whispered. I looked down and saw that we were midair, moving towards a star. I would be happy there. Where ever there was.

System Only Gives Me Useless Gifts
Li Yun grew up with a system that gave him useless gifts. He wanted a reward that could prove the existence of the system, but ended up with abstract gifts like culture. Without physical proof, he was stuck wondering whether his mind was truly sane, all the while dealing with the reality of life. How will the "useless" system help Li Yun navigate medical school, hospital politics, criminal cases, treasure hunting, farming and cooking? Author's Note: This is a slice-of-life novel about a doctor with a mission-type system. It's written as a faux modern Chinese novel, so there are many 1-off characters and episodic mini arcs. Just a bit of warning, the tone of the story is very different after the childhood arc and jumpy as it chronicles Li Yun's life. I'm trying to make it less apparent in the rewrite, but there are still a lot of time skips. RR is the rewrite version, no set schedule. See webnovel for OG. scribblehub is a combo of both . I recommend scribblehub since it has pictures. Copyrights of the novel and cover are owned by Chocomug. Novel is free to read and download for personal use, such as offline reading, only.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
