"I don't get it! I mean, I don't belong to him! I'm not anyone's property! How can he claim me?!?!" I yelled, causing Felix to cringe, "It's not fair! Can't I love who I want?" Felix sighed, walking twords me, "Pan always gets what he wants, you and I both have been here long enough to understand that." I calmed down, feeling a little light headed from all my shouting. "Why can't he at least... nevermind." I quietly said, sitting on a nearby rock. "He is Peter Pan... no one fully understands him, (Y/N)." Felix put his hand out for me to take," We should get back before he comes looking for you." I let out a shot of air, " Okay..." I took his hand and he pulled me up. I follwed his dark figure back to the camp. When we had gotten back it was already dark. The boys were dancing around the fire and whooping. "What's going on?" I asked Devin, who was sitting by the fire, sharpening his dagger. "A girl is here, something like Wendy-bird I think." he responded, gesturing to a girl in a dress. "How? A girl?" I scoffed, looking at her as she clung to Peter. He was playing that eerie tune that everyone loved on his pan flute. "You're one to talk." Felix said, the corners of his mouth turning upward slightly. Although I hated him calling me his, I always have had some sort of feeling for the boy. Seeing him with this 'Wendy-bird' girl, made me jealous. I could never admit it though. I had an urge to eradicate her from Neverland and hope to never see her again. I scoffed, "Wouldn't really call myself a girl would I now?" Felix and Devin laughed, identifying my jealousy. "She's jealous of the Wendy-bird." Devin laughed, putting his dagger on the ground. He grabbed my arm and pulled me into the group of cheering boys. We were all dancing and having fun. I danced with Devin and the twins, when I noticed Peter had stopped playing and was looking in our direction. I stopped and watched them as they jumped up and down around the fire. "Come on (Y/N)!" they yelled at me, I shook my head and turned twoards Felix. He was smirking and laughing at us. I turned and noticed Peter walking twords the group. He stood next to me, his smug glare staring into my soul. He pulled me away from the circle and into the jungle, but I was never afriad of him and he knew that. "You belong to me! Not them!" he growled behind his teeth. I crossed my arms and turned away from his appearance. "I do not belong to you Pan, " I laughed, insulting his name, "Besides, you that Wendy-bird now!" He turned my face so I was looking at his dark grin. "(Y/N) (Y/N) (Y/N). You're jealous aren't you!" he laughed," She is only a visitor!" My eyes widened in shock, "I'll have you know that I am not jealous of that perky girl!" I went to walk away when I felt his hand wrap around my arm. "Let me go, Peter!" I yelled, trying to push him off. "You are the only one that belongs to me... don't be jealous of her love." I lost my temper, "I DO NOT BELONG TO YOU PETER!!!!!" I pushed him away and landed on the cold earth floor. He looked at me in anger," Yes, you do. Get up!" I laughed lackadasically, "Don't tell me what to do!" I said, staying on the ground arms crossed. "Now." he growled, putting his hand out for me to take. "Hmmm, no." I turned around so I wasn't facing him. He sighed, "Okay, didn't want to have to do this." I prepared myself for what could possibly occur. "Please? I love you." he said smiling softly. I turned around and looked at him in fear, "One, don't do that and two, no you don't." He looked at me like I couldn't see the obvious, "But I do." I scoffed, "Whatever." He wrapped his arms around my waist and picked me up from the ground. I felt a good feeling when his arms were around me. "Don't say whatever when you feel the same way." he put his hand on my chin, forcing me to look at him. "who ever said that..." I said as his face was only seconds from mine. "Not hard to tell..." he whispered seductively, bringing his lips to mine. I was in shock at first, but I was soon kissing back. "That did." he whispered, pulling away. I smiled and opened my eyes. He smirked, "Believe me now?" I returned the look, "Nope." I walked away, smiling as I joined the boys again at the camp.

Rimward Bound
Every citizen of the sky-cities of His Majesty's Star-Empire knows that a ship, both sky- and star-, is more then just a few bits of metal. It is the grand sum of it's hull and the crew that sail it. 'Hulls of battle-steel and men to match!' That's what the Navy's recruitment poster's claim at least. Every sailor knows that there is one more component that the city-bound folk ignore at their own peril: the soul of the ship. That it takes both man and hull to make a true ship, and that neither alone serve well or for long. In 8225 Lord Jeffrye Saltonstall the Fourth, Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps, demands semi-automated ships to 'reduce the loss of life among our brave crews', manages to convince the other politicians and bureaucrats to fund them, and gets the Office of Ship Construction to sign off on the ships as structurally sound. Dockyard workers shake their heads at the ships, muttering that they are cursed from birth, even as construction drags on. In 8230 the Explorer, first of her class, is launched. She sets out in 8233 to great fanfare on a trip expected to last six months. Neither she nor her twelve-person crew is ever heard from again. By 8235, the remaining seven Explorers are are commissioned. Lord Saltonstall managed to find crews for six of them but at the cost of mass resignations. The Night Horse, last of the Explorer class, sat in reserve as her sister-ships served well enough despite ill luck and misfortune. The Office of Ship Construction quietly issues notice that no more semi-automated ships are to be built and that all active Semi-automated ships are to be quietly retired and broken up for scrap over the next ten years. The Night Horse, sitting in reserve, is missed due to bureaucratic oversight. In 8250 Lord Ayland Wynstryngham the Eighth assumes the office of Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps. His first act is to issue notice that no ship is to be without crew nor sit in dock or reserve for longer then required for maintenance and upkeep. The Night Horse, all but forgotten, is quietly brought back into active service. Recruiting a crew for her proves another matter entirely. What poor or desperate fool would willingly sign on to crew, much less command, a cursed ship and spend months or years in deep space? Well, you would, of course. Where else is a kid from the gutters going to find that kind of freedom in the service of His Majesty? A [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] 2021. Warnings: Second person is used in this work. Semi-Polished draft: Posted chapters are subject to revision as needed as things progress. Mild Profanity on occasion.
