Tanaka walked off to the living room, leaving Kazuichi in the dining room.
When Gundham was sitting down on the couch, he suddenly remembered...
He told the cat AND the dog about his feelings for the mechanic...
He felt his entire face turn red...
"Okay! I'm done now!" Souda spoke, food still in his mouth, "also, you'll make a pretty damn good house husband you know? Your food tastes great" Souda smiled, taking a seat next to Tanaka, "also–"
"No, I will ask the question here" Gundham grunted, crossing his arms, "... Y-You-... Hm... You do know about my...*cough* feelings towards you, correct?" Gundham murmured, his face turning red, "hm? Oh, yeah! Of course I do! Why?"
"... Oh... Sorry– its kinds personal for you, isn't it... If you want, I can act like I didn't hear anything?" He chuckled, "no, what's done is done... You cannot reverse the past..." Tanaka whispered, grabbing Kazuichis hand, "..."
"I was just trying to help..."
Tanaka just blushed and hid in his scarf, "there's no school today, right?" Souda asked, about to grab his phone until he suddenly remembered that he left it in his locker.
"... Shit"
"Hm? What?"
"I left my damn phone in my locker, man! Bye! See you like... Tomorrow? Or on monday!" He chuckled, getting up.
"Kazuichi, have you told anyone else about such power you have?" Tanaka asked, fluffing the couch pillow.
"... Oh uhm... No... You're probably like... The only one..." Souda murmured, opening the front door, "by— WOAAAHH!!!"
"Oh! Greetings! And you might be...?" The lady at the door smiled.
"... U-Uhm... Kazuichi..."
"Hm, I didn't know Gundham'll have his friend over" Akumi chuckled, "will you like to stay for dinn–"

"No!" Gundham nearly shouted, "ahem! I mean, he is on his way to his domain, it would be a hassle for you to make your way and prepare some substances for him"
"Oh, I see, how about you Gundy? Do you want food? Are you perhaps starving, if so, I apologize for not being here... I'm so–"
"Shh..."
"..."
Gundham looked at his mom and shook his head, "don't say such things like that about yourself my dear angel" He paused, "ah! Kazuichi, allow me to accompany you!" He spoke, trying to leave the conversation he had with his mom.
"Bye Gundham!" She smiled weakly, turning to the kitchen and making her way the fridge.
"Whyd you leave your mom?"
"... You see, she needs her rest, and im–... I'm usually in her way, she cares too much about me that she forgets about her own wealth... It worries me..." He sighed, grabbing Kazuichis hand, "do tell, I would like to understand your unique power more... Perhaps we can talk about this at your domai–"
"No! How about here! O-On this bench!" He interrupted him, taking a seat on it, ".. Why here? This is public... These mortals may become suspicious due to the fact you're talking about your... Uniquely presence, they might take you away from me..."
"Take me away from you...?" Souda murmured, messing with his fingers, until he suddenly realized, "h-hey! Don't say it all mushy like that!"
"Mushy?"
"It doesn't matter! Just don't say things like that.. I-Its embarrassing..." He blushed slightly, crossing his arms, "a-anyways! Let's go to...–where were we going to go?"
"Your doma–"
"Oh right the donut shop!"
"Huh– who said I have ordered to go there? I simply wanted to go to your personal realm, do you not have one?"

"No, I do! It's just–... Just...—" He started to whispered something under his breath, thinking about what he should say next, "IT'S A MESS!"
"hm... That's not really that odd..."
"Yeah, you're saying that, but your house is like, so clean?!" Kazuichi groaned, "you know- let's just go to my house then..."
-Kazuichis house-
They stood at the door, Kazuichis palm beginning to sweat due to the fact that Gundham was about to witness something unpleasing.
"..."
He fiddled with the doorknob and opened the door, revealing his dad sleeping on the couch with two beer bottles on the table, "... Hold on, I hafta do something real quick, okay?"
He quickly wrote on a sticky paper and placed it on the table near his dad, "don't worry, I just wrote something on how your here so he should act more... You know better"
"...?"
"What's up with that look on your face? You look annoy- am I talking too much! I'm sorry!" Kazuichi immediately stopped talking and turned around, avoiding eye contact, "... Let's just go to my room..."
-kazuichis room-
"... Here it is, my room" He forced a smile, he closed the door quietly and sat down on his bed, "..."
"A-Actually! I'm going to the kitchen to get a drink, what would you want? Do you want tea? Water? Soda?"
"Simple water... It reminds me of-"
"Okay! Cool!"
Kazuichi got up and left the room.
Kazuichi went to the kitchen and grabbed a glass cup and filled water in it, "don't spill it... Don't spill it..."
He finished pouring the water in the cup and made his way to his bedroom, about to open the door until he heard a voice.
"Who would ever obtain feelings for him? He's so odd..."
"A Changeling and a breeder, it does not compute..."
Kazuichi paused at the door and took a step back, "...im weird...? I knew it..."
Balling his hands into a fist, he fiddled with the door knob, too scared to open he door, "I shouldn't have told him the secret...its my damn fault... I'm such a fuckIng disgrace!" He whined, his voice cracking a bit out of anger.
"... And to think I was actually starting to like him... Heh... Hehe..." He cleared his throat and opened the door, "... Hey... Gundham..."
"Kazuichi...?"

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx.
