《A Broken Hallelujah.》Chapter Seven.

Everything was a blur. From holding her blood covered fiancé in the street to the car ride and the wait in the hospital. It was a blur. Maura stood in her baige slim fitted dress that had been soaked in the blood of her partner, with tears soaking her cheeks. A stranger from the Boston street had called an ambulance and of course Korsak and Frankie showed up just seconds after the ambulance had skidded to a stop by the ally Maura and Jane were in. Korsak had helped Maura up to her feet and led her to his cruiser. The three had followed the ambulance to the car. They were all together, but now, Vince and Frankie were nowhere to be seen, and she was left standing alone, in the waiting room smothered in blood.
Angela had been called and had said she was on her way. Maybe that's where Frankie and Korsak where. Picking up Angela. Surely they'd have told her though right? Well Maura couldn't remember most of her morning, let alone being told where the two detectives were going.
'Dr. Isles?' A soft voice came from behind a nervous Maura.
Her head turned quickly as she hurried to wipe away a few loose tears before smiling sadly at the doctor.
'Yes' She chocked out.
The man was in dark blue scrubs with a surgery hat covering his hair. He had just come from surgery. Yes that's right she thought, Jane was rushed into the emergency OR and had been there for god knows how long. Maura was brought from her daze when the man spoke again.
'Would you like to take a seat?' He gestured slowly to the soft pale blue seats.
'Is Jane okay?' She asked softly felt her chest tighten and a lump in her throat reform as she sat opposite the surgeon who had a sad look in his eyes.
'Miss Rizzoli is stable. The wound has effected her right kidney and we have had to remove it. She will need a transplant as soon as possible in order for her immune system to recover and be able to protect her vital organs. Her left kidney was damaged but we were able to save it. The bullet that entered Miss Rizzolis body has not been found and has been left in her until another surgery which will be scheduled for two days time. Her ovaries haven't been affected, nor has her liver or bowel, so thankfully she will survive, but of course without a new kidney Miss Rizzoli will become very I'll quite a lot. And-'

'Can she have my Kidney?' Maura blurted.
'Well..Yes we could use your kidney but there are many processes you would need to go thro-'
'Yes I know. I want her to have my kidney. Please' Maura pleaded.
The doctor smiled with a nod.
'Of course Dr.Isles. I can set up some tests for you as soon as possible and keep you informed. Would you like to see Miss Rizzoli?' He asked softly pressing a gentle hand to her forearm.
'Yes' She said quietly with a small nod.
She stood clutching her jacket to,her middle as she followed the surgeon down a long hall and through a large door that opened into another long hall. There were windows along the walls giving a view of each patient in their room. Maura glanced at a few before she came to a halt behind the surgeon. He gently opened the white door and pushed it open slowly for Maura to walk through. He smiled as she stepped closer and entered the room.
She heard the small click behind her of the closing door and the beeping of the monitors Jane was hooked up to. Maura gingerly walked closer to Jane and looked at her sadly.
'Oh Jane' She whispered running a hand softly through her raven locks before coming down to place a soft kiss on her forehead. She turned and placed her jacket down over the chair that was provided for visitors and reached in the pocket to retrieve her phone.
Once the call was over she placed her phone on the small table at the side of Jane's bed and scooted her chair closer. She took the Italians hand gently in her own placing a soft kiss upon it. Jane hadn't come around yet from the anesthetic and was still unconscious to her surroundings, and with Jane's past, Maura knew how bad she panicked when waking up so.ewhere unfamiliar. So Maura would make sure she was there when she woke up.

It had been 2 hours since Frankie and Angela arrived at the hospital with a change of clothes and a coffee for Maura. Angela had begun crying as she laid her eyes upon her daughter who was still unconscious. Frankie had comforted her and it had only made Maura upset a little more. She had changed her clothes and dropped her blood soaked dress in a plastic bag.
Frankie had only stayed at the hospital an hour after knowing she would be okay he was called back to work. He had to fill in on Jane's cases until she was fit enough to get back to duty, which clearly was for a while.
'Maura honey, you can't give her your kidney. You need to look after her when she's at home. How you gonna do that when your sick too?' Angela spoke sitting opposite the blonde who was still holding Janes hand.
'Angela, she needs my kidney. If I don't give her mine she might not get one for months! I can help her' Maura explained to Angela.
Angela just looked at the blonde. Of course she wanted her daughter to get a kidney as soon as possible, but Maura's? They'd both be sick, both needing care. How would that work?
'A kidney?' A husky voice spoke.
Mara turned to look at her fiancé.
'Jane' Maura smiled turning fully to the Italian.
'Hi' She said with a half smile.
The Italian was tired and aching and sore. She felt the pull in her abdomen where she knew shed have a scar, she remembers being shot but noting else. Her head pounded.
'How are you feeling?' Angela asked her daughter moving round to take her other hand.
'I'm okay Ma, whats happened?' Jane said with little breath.
After another hour with a conscious Jane, Angela had decided to leave and let the two women have some time alone. Maura had spent another hour or two talking to Jane making sure she felt okay and seeing her go through some small tests with a few doctors.
Maura had sat resting her head on her hand looking at the brunette lying asleep.
'Maur..' A croaky voice spoke. 'Stop watching me'
Maura smiled and blushed. 'Sorry'
'I'm okay. Really' Jane smiled as she opened her eyes. She loves how much Maura cared.
'Hey' Jane said softly reaching a hand out to Maura who looked upset.
'Maur, Its okay' Jane tried to soothe.
'I was so scared Jane' Maura began to sob lightly. She scooted her chair closer to Jane's bed before Jane, with much effort and pain turned to let Maura climb on the side of the bed with her.
'I know baby, I'm sorry' Jane whispered into blonde hair as she gently held the sobbing blonde.
Maura rested her arm across Jane's chest as not to touch her anywhere to cause pain. Softly she looked up to the Italian and pressed their lips together.
'Everything is gonna be okay Maur' Jane smiled and relaxed into her pillow and pulled Maura slightly closer welcoming sleep.
