We took off that night, I was restless to see Cici and hold her close to me while I take in her intoxicating scent. I needed my Luna, Victor was restless to see our mate too and we raced full speed to make the trip shorter knowing she was waiting for us at the end. Darius and Paul were right behind me, ready to bring their Luna back home as much as I was.

Two days and we were at the border of her pack but all that we could smell was blood. Lots of blood. The scent hung in the air... none of it was fresh but it smelt like a massacre occurred here a few weeks ago and nobody had yet cleaned up.

I growled low in my chest as did everyone with me sensing the scene we were walking into.

Bodies lay everywhere.

Some as their wolves and some in human form.

Whole families slaughtered in their beds.

It was a horrific sight.

I couldn't sense her or smell her scent here.

It was as if she never even came here.

My warriors let off howls for the lost wolves, they may not have been our pack member, but they were the same as us and to see a whole pack slaughtered like this hurt us all.

I shifted and ran into the large main pack house but no sign of Cici was to be found anywhere. Neither was her father.

Something was horribly wrong, no Alpha would leave his pack to die like this without going down with them.

'Mate' Victor whined, but she wasn't here. I was glad not to see her body laying here but it also meant I had no idea where to find her.
