《Phantoms from the Past》Chapter 21: Dare-to-Bare

Ranveer picked up a pillow to cover his crotch, wishing he had a little more time so he could wash before rubbing his balls over a pillow. But when he looked at himself in the mirror he rejected the pillow as too scandalous; Sharin would be too embarrassed and might choose to ignore him altogether. Also, he didn't wish to offend Sharin with indecent exposure.
He went into the bathroom looking for a decently sized towel that could somewhat cover his jewels, but to no avail; the towels were too small as Deepika preferred several small towels to a long giant one, probably because she never needed to cover while walking out of her bathroom. She lived alone and wasn't inside a film either. The biggest towel Ranveer found was probably her hair towel still a few centimeters short to wrap around his waist.
Also, who was he kidding? No matter what he wore before Sharin, it couldn't be decent enough. She was a professional help to Deepika and anything over that would be too much to expect. He decided the first thing he must do should be apologizing profusely.
He checked Deepika's drawers and rejected her undergarments and lingerie downright. Even in his haste, he couldn't ignore the humor in shuffling through a girl's wardrobe. Some of the stuff he found in her drawer was just fancy lace that left him wondering what the point of such clothes was when they didn't even hide anything, but he also made a mental note to witness Deepika changing into at least a few of them.
Oh God, how will she react to this, he imagined. But that was a chance he was willing to take.
After going through much of Deepika's clothes, none of which could fit him, he pulled the sheet off the bed and wrapped around his shoulders. A look in the mirror told him the sheet was transparent if it stuck too close, so he shed it off the shoulders to double down at the hips. He tied it like a towel well around the navel trying everything to not look like a stripper. His training at acting had told him the worst of the actors didn't know what to do with their hands, which was what he felt at the moment. He picked up the excess length of the bed-sheet that lay on the floor to carry it in his hands and not step on it to trip over or, much worse, lose the sheet. He looked like a poorly dressed Roman citizen.

The air in the room smelled of Sharin's perfume and Deepika's morning mouth when the door to the bedroom opened and the girls felt the air slap their faces. Sharin was talking about the skin exposure clause, if Deepika was okay with a little more suggestive spandex and lower necks in bra-less gowns when Ranveer appeared with a deadpan expression.
Sharin saw him first, her mouth wide open as a quick step of his pushed aside the bed-sheet to expose a shaven thigh, she hoped she hadn't seen it but still found her eyes glued to Ranveer's body.
Deepika stopped mid-way her sentence when she saw Ranveer walk in on them in the nude as if everything was normal interrupting their professional meeting. She quickly threw Sharin a look and realized she couldn't tell he was naked beneath that crumpled sheet.
Ranveer came close to Deepika and sat beside her and dropped all the bed-sheets in his hands between his legs. He looked around confused as he couldn't find any of his clothes. Did he make a mistake, he thought. Were my clothes in the bedroom itself?
Deepika eyed the over-stressed knot Ranveer had tied at his side and stuffed more cloth over it just to be sure. "Couldn't you wait for half an hour?" she hissed.
"How could I?" he said aloud. "I hear Sharin is leaving," he said in a one-tone voice. "I thought I must meet her before she leaves."
"It would have been just fine," said Sharin trying not to look through the translucent bed-sheet.
Ranveer nodded. "Carry on with your meeting. Don't let me disturb you."
Deepika was in shock. Is he mad? Well, you did disturb us, she thought, by walking in with your dangling bits hidden by a there-not-there curtain.
Sharin looked at Deepika, "So everything's fine at last," she said regretting her decision to persuade Deepika to give this pervert another chance.
Deepika smiled nervously.
"I guess we are done," Sharin said. "I'll call you if anything comes up, keep your phone close."
"Great!" said Deepika thankfully.
"Why don't you have some coffee," interrupted Ranveer.
"Huh?" Deepika couldn't believe her ears.
"You were here first thing in the morning. I'm sure you can make time for some coffee," argued Ranveer.
Sharin looked at Deepika. Deepika was melting with embarrassment. "If it isn't any trouble," Sharin said.

"Huh, no.. not at all," Deepika got up with a hung head and walked slowly away to the kitchen, Ranveer's eyes following her all the way.
Fear had, meanwhile, begun to creep up on Sharin. Did she make a mistake by telling Deepika to leave the room? Is this going to be her sexual harassment story, pinned by a rising star? She reached for her handbag in which she kept the pepper spray, still hoping she doesn't have to use it for it will ruin her career, her relationship with Deepika, everything she had worked so hard for all these years.
She had unzipped the bag when Ranveer turned back to her moving closer. He saw the fear and immediately backed off, surprised, "I'm extremely sorry to have barged in like this, Sharin," he said in a hushed voice. "I am very sorry. My clothes were not in the bedroom, and I still can't find them here," he looked around again, "but I have to talk to you about something really important. Okay," he said turning to check if Deepika was back.
"Er...What?" said Sharin somewhat relaxed, but her hand still groping for the pepper spray.
"See I know it could have waited," Ranveer began, "but I wanted to talk to you in person and I couldn't wait for you to have come back, otherwise...," he hesitated as he always did before opening up his heart, "otherwise I would have just went on building upon my imagination and it would have become too late and too difficult to undo all that."
Sharin nodded slowly her hands over the spray can open. She expected Ranveer to pounce on her any minute even though she still couldn't believe it was possible. She held her breath as she waited for some weird proposal.
"Did you know Deepika had a panic attack last month?" he said softly.
"Huh? What? WHAAT?" she said as Ranveer jumped at his place on the couch. He turned to find Deepika rushing out of the kitchen.
"What happened?" said Deepika.
"Nothing," blurted Ranveer grabbing the bed-sheet and pulling it up.
"Sharin?" said Deepika with concern.
"It's fine," Sharin said shaking her head. She was back in her wits.
"You're sure?"
"Yeah, yeah, absolutely," Sharin decided to find out the whole thing from Ranveer before talking to Deepika. "It's fine."
Deepika looked at Ranveer who sat innocently in his place. A few awkward moments passed and then she left-back for the kitchen.
"Thanks," said Ranveer.
"What were you saying?"
"So you did not know?"
"No, I didn't. But I'm supposed to know this," she said worriedly. "If any of this comes out, her market would come crashing down."
Ranveer frowned. All Sharin cared about was the brand called Deepika, not the person. But this also meant he was the only person who knew about this, or whom she told about this. She could have told her family but that eventually would have led to Sharin knowing everything. Ranveer was so satisfied with this information that he thanked Sharin for it, to which Sharin awkwardly smiled.
Ranveer casually moved the discussion on to Sharin's makeup when Deepika brought coffee. Ranveer happily picked a mug holding his bed-sheet with the other hand placing the mug on the armrest.
As Deepika was settling beside Ranveer, Sharin said, "Why didn't you tell me you had a panic attack last month, I could have gotten you a few days off."
Ranveer's eyebrows went far above his eyes. Ranveer knew this was coming but didn't expect it so early. He missed telling Sharin not to tell Deepika about his inquiry. He thought it was pretty obvious.
"You told her," Deepika said to Ranveer.
"Ranveer was inquiring about it," she chuckled.
"Oh, was he?"
Sharin enjoyed the tension in the air as it built up, "he was concerned."
"Of course."
Ranveer had fully turned to Deepika listlessly gawking at her, his back to Sharin giving her full view of his buttcrack above the slackening bed-sheet.
"I think I should leave now," Sharin put the coffee mug down and stood up. She air-kissed Deepika who escorted her to the door. She said, "You know, it's all great, but try not to be too obvious about all this," she winked at Ranveer and left.
Deepika shut the door and turned to Ranveer.
