《On the Devil's Path {a SOA sequel}》Chapter seventeen

When we pulled up to the Clubhouse, I went straight for the bar. I grabbed the bottle of Jack and took a long pull from it. The burning of the liquor was welcoming. Juice and Tig were sitting on the couch, staring into space. Chibs sat down beside me and put his arm around my shoulders.
"How you doing, love?" He asked me softly.
I took another long pull and hung my head.
"I don't know." I answered honestly.
He let out a sigh and took the bottle from me.
"I know, darlin'. I know."
When he finished with the bottle, I took if back from him and held it by the neck. Chibs didn't say anything else to me so I just drank. Shot after shot after shot. I drank until I couldn't see Jax or Kips' faces anymore.
The clubhouse was too quiet for me. I stumbled over to the juke box and put on something slow with a deep, thumping bass. I closed my eyes and let the music take me. Before I knew it, I was in front of Tig and Juice at the pole.
Never before this moment have I danced on a pole, but the movements flowed out of me like water. I was spinning and dancing like a pro. Juice's mouth dropped to the floor and Tig just sat back and watched. I tipped back the bottle again and slid down from the small stage the pole was on and made my way over to Tig. Through blurred eyes, I sat on his lap facing him. I brought the bottle to his lips and he took a long drink. From what I could make out, his pale blue eyes were on fire.
"What next babe?" He asked me.
His voice was thick with need. His hands roamed all over my hips and slid up my back. I reached down and felt his growing member through his jeans and winked at him. With one shift movement, he picked me up and carried me back to the apartment, the bottle of JD still in my hand.
'KNOCK KNOCK'
"We're at the table!" It was Juice.
My eyes shot open. The sun was blazing through the curtains. I winced and pulled myself up. Why was Juice telling me they were meeting at the table?
"Gimme a minute." A voice said from beside me.
I froze. Lying in bed with me, wrapped in the sheet from the waist down, was Tig.
"Oh my God." I shrieked as I looked down at my naked body.
Tig chuckled and I scrambled to pull the Harley Davidson blanket that was on the bed around me.

"What the hell are you doing in here?!" I whispered.
By now, Tig was dragging himself out of the bed. I noticed, as the sheet slipped from his body, that he was still in his jeans.
"You invited me, sweetheart." He said as he buttoned up his dark blue shirt.
I invited him to my bed? What the hell happened last night? As he picked up his cut off the floor, he grabbed the almost empty Jack Daniel's bottle and finished it up.
"Breakfast of champions." He said with a smile.
I was in too much shock to say anything. My thoughts were running wild. What if he tells someone? What if Jax finds out? I looked up at him and opened my mouth to beg him to keep this quiet, but he stopped me.
"We'll keep this between us, okay?" He asked.
I sighed in relief and nodded. He nodded once then left me alone in the room. A deep sigh escaped me and I ran my hands through my hair. It was full of knots. I groaned and made my way to the bathroom.
"Jesus." I said to myself.
I was a hot mess for sure. My hair was wild and sticking in every direction. Eyeliner and mascara were smeared all over my eyes and face. To sum it up, I looked like a dead hooker. A shower was definitely in order.
The hot water felt amazing on my skin. It felt as if everything that's happened in the past few days was being washed away like the makeup from my face. I stood under the water for a moment to try and call back my memories from last night. I could remember getting the whiskey and drinking it at the bar, but that was about it.
"Fuck." I said under my breath and continued my shower.
Once I was finished, I felt a little bit better. I dressed in simple skinny jeans and a white t-shirt. As I was lacing up my black combat boots, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in," I called.
Juice stuck his head in the door.
"Morning." He said.
He was nervous, I could tell. He wouldn't look at me directly and his hands were stuffed in his pockets.
"Morning, Juice." I said back.
He stood there awkwardly for a few moments before walking in the room and shutting the door behind him.
"Look, it's really none of my business, like at all but what happened with you and Tig last night?" He asked finally.
I sighed and sat down on the bed.
"I was hoping maybe you could tell me." I replied.

Juice raised his eyebrow and pulled his hands out of his pockets and held them up.
"Wait, you don't remember anything?"
I shook my head no and he scratched the back of his head.
"Well, last night you did get pretty wasted. You ended up on the pole and gave me and Tig a show. Then he sat on Tig's lap and he brought you back here." He explained.
I was mortified. I actually pole danced in front of Tig and Juice. Oh my God. I put my hands over my eyes and groaned.
"Juice, this has to stay between the three of us." I begged him.
It was Juice's turn to groan.
"McKayla, I'm horrible at keeping secrets!"
I rolled my eyes and stood up.
"Juice, please. Just until I find out exactly what happened." I asked.
His head cocked to the side.
"What do you mean?"
"I need to find out if I slept with him or not. I can't remember. I woke up naked but he was still in his pants. Maybe nothing actually happened. But for now, just pretend you don't know anything. Okay?"
I didn't give him a chance to answer. I brushed passed him and walked out the door.
Piney and Opie were talking at the bar when I came out. Opie stood up and gave me a hug.
"How you holding up?" He asked me.
I shrugged and managed a smile.
"I'll be okay." He smiled back
"I was just heading out to the hospital, wanna come with?"
I nodded and followed him out to his bike. I heard Tig in the garage and swallowed hard. It's now or never.
"Hang on a sec," I told Opie and I went over to Tig.
Tig nodded towards the office and we shut the doors.
"What's up, honey?" He asked me.
"Look, I need a straight answer about last night. What happened?" I said with my hands on my hips.
Tig chuckled and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Nothing." He said flatly.
I blinked and took a step back.
"Really?"
He nodded and gave me a twisted smile.
"Not that I didn't try, but you passed out after you took your clothes off."
I sighed in relief and thanked him. Good, nothing happened between us. Now I can look Jax in the eyes today and not feel guilty. Opie handed me his helmet and I climbed on behind him.
"You ready?" He called out.
I nodded and we took off. As we rode to the hospital, I decided that I was going to put everything that's happened behind me. I wasn't going to think about Jax cheating on me or Kip dying anymore. Jax was alive and I loved him. That's all that matters.
Neeta was in the waiting room with Abel when he got inside. I took him from her and gave him a kiss.
"I think he missed you." She said with a smile.
I smiled too and hugged him before handing him back to her. Opie nodded to me and went down the hall to Jax's room. Through the window, I saw Gemma inside talking to him. Gently, I knocked on the door.
Gemma saw me first. She stood up and embraced me in a warm hug.
"Good morning baby." She said as she kissed my cheek.
I smiled back at her. Jax smiled at me and held out his hand for me. I pulled away from Gemma and went to Jax. I put my hand in his and he pulled hard enough so that I fell onto the bed. He sat up on his elbow and pulled me down for a kiss. It was slow, but hard and filled with love. I smiled into it. Gemma cleared her throat.
"Yeah, I'm still here." She said.
We both laughed and a small blush crept across my face.
"I guess I'll leave you two alone." She said with a smirk.
Jax waved to her and she closed the door behind her.
"How are you feeling?" I asked him seriously.
He shrugged and shifted in the bed.
"I just want to get out of here." He said.
I nodded and rubbed his hand with my thumb softly.
"How are you doing?" He asked me, just as seriously.
I smiled reassuringly and gave his hand a squeeze.
"I'm fine, Jax. I'm just happy you're alright."
He looked at me questioningly but didn't say anything. He looked a lot better than he did last night, but I still didn't like him being in the hospital. We sat in silence for a few minutes when I noticed him staring at me.
"What?" I asked.
He smiled softly and brought my hands to his lips for a kiss.
"McKayla, I just wanted you to know that I love you. And that I'm sorry for everything that's happened." He said.
I smiled and touched his face with my free hand.
"I love you too, Jax." I whispered before leaning down and kissing him.
I knew in that moment, everything was going to be okay.
