BRIAN
The bus pulled up to the venue about two hours before the show started. The line that was outside of the building was incredible. There were so many kids out there holding up signs saying ‘foREVer’. None of us could stop the tears from flowing out of our eyes. Zacky and I split the rest of the whiskey and pounded back a lot of beer before we could even get off of the bus. I stumbled down the steps and barely made it into the building before I threw up in a trash can. Matt walked over to me and put his hand on my shoulder.
“I think that’s enough for tonight, huh?” He said. I shrugged him off and started walking to the dressing room so I could change for the show.
Zacky was nursing another beer and Johnny was just sitting on the couch, staring up at the ceiling. Mike was warming up on stage and Matt was off somewhere else, probably calling Val.
“You want another?” Zacky finally asked me. I nodded and he tossed one to me.
“I don’t know if I can go out there.” Zacky said quietly.
Johnny and I both nodded in agreement.
“How are we supposed to? How are we supposed to play the songs that we wrote together without him?” Zacky said. His voice was tight, but his words were slurred. He was getting drunker by the second.
I gulped some more of my beer, then stood up and walked over to him. I reached over and took his bottle and set it down on the table.
“Okay Zack, that’s enough.” I told him quietly.
He nodded and pulled me in for a tight hug. I held him back tightly, then I felt Johnny come over and join our hug.

“We have to try.” I said finally in a choked voice. When we pulled away, all of our faces were red and wet with tears.
“We have to try this, for Jimmy. If we can’t get through this one show, we’ll hang it up.” I said to them.
“Okay, that’s the plan then.” Matt said from the doorway.
We all nodded to each other and then headed out to hair and makeup. I expected to see Janet stomping her foot because we were late, but she wasn’t there.
Instead, a tall blonde was leaning against the counter. Her hair was about shoulder length and it was platinum blonde. As we got closer, I could see her icy blue eyes staring back at us. She smiled a toothy grin and waved. She was wearing a white silk top with a black vest over it and black leggings with knee high boots.
“Hi guys, I’m Aubrey. I’m your new hair and makeup stylist.” She said. Her voice was light and airy.
Matt was the first one of us to speak.
“Nice to meet you Aubrey. I think you already know who we are, right?” He said. She smiled and nodded.
“Of course, who doesn’t? Shall we get started?” Aubrey said. Matt nodded and sat in the chair.
When it was my turn, Aubrey was chatting up a storm.
“I’m really proud of you guys for continuing to tour without Jimmy. It takes a lot of strength to do something like that.” She said seriously.
I looked up at her for a moment, her icy blues held my eyes. I felt like a thousand years had gone by, but it was only mere seconds before she turned her head. But I could see a small smile formed on her full, pouty lips.

“Okay Synyster, you’re all done.” She said.
I slowly got down from the chair and started to make my way to the stage. I looked over at Zacky who was shaking his head at me. I walked over and put my arm around his shoulder.
“We can do this Zack. He’d want us too.” I told him.
Zacky took a deep breath and nodded. I nodded once and walked back over to my spot. The opening to ‘Nightmare’ started to play and I took a deep breath to steady myself and got ready.
As I started to play with opening duel with Zacky I thought to myself ‘maybe we can do this.’ I looked into the crowd and saw all the fans screaming, moshing, and crying right with us. They were hurting too but they’re still coming out here to support us, so we have to keep going for them.
Zacky shot me a glance and I could see that he was thinking the same thing. I nodded slightly and I knew that we as a band were going to be alright. As I was looking at Zacky, I saw Aubrey standing off stage singing every word right along with Matt and she was whipping her hair around and dancing. Throughout our whole set, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her.
When the set was over, everyone was in a good mood. We all celebrated with a drink, then went to shower up.
I was walking to the bus, when I saw a figure leaning against it smoking a cigarette. As I got closer, I saw that it was Aubrey.
“Great show tonight Syn.” She said in her sweet voice.
I smiled at her and lit up a cigarette of my own. She took a drag then turned to me.
“Jimmy would’ve been proud.” She said. I looked at her but said nothing.
Aubrey smiled and tossed her cigarette to the ground then stomped on it with her boot.
“Well I better get back to my bus. I’ll see you around Syn.” She said. As she left, she put her hand on my arm for a moment.
Her touch was hot as a thousand embers burning on my flesh.
“Brian, get your ass in here. We’ve gotta move.” Johnny called from the door. I shook my head slightly and climbed up the stairs.
“Oh by the way, Kate’s texted you like ten times today. Do you ever plan on talking to her again?” He told me.
I slapped myself on the forehead.
“Shit.” I said to myself as I took my phone from his hands.
She had left me about ten text messages all throughout the day and I haven’t even bothered to read them. She’s got to pissed at me by now.
I sighed and tucked the phone in my pocket.
Oh well, a few more hours won’t hurt. She’s already pissed right?
I hope you like this one (: I've written these last two chapter while I was in between classes this week. I should be writing the next one soon (: Thanks for reading!

Handyman
Real science is done on the edge of knowledge. If done correctly, you really are not certain of the outcomes. If done incorrectly, people can get hurt. This is the story of a researcher tossed across reality. Current update schedule is entirely sporadic, but I do commit to not dropping the story. I'm aiming for 1 small chapter a month at the moment.

Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.

The London Phantom: A Superhero Webnovel
London is an old city. It has survived floods, fires, plagues and the man-made smog of industry. It has stood firm against the armies of Vikings, Saxons, Normans and the aerial might of the Luftwaffe. It has borne witness to dynsatic feuds, civil wars, military occupation and the sin of regicide. Through all these disasters the city has survived not through force of arms, though its walls were once the envy of the world, but through adapting to the times. Enemies become dependant on the city, and the wealth of the world that flows through it, and so become new allies. If the rulers change, then the city welcomes them with open arms, and open lines of credit. In this way the city seeks to preserve its ancient rights and position of power. Superheroes are a new phenomenon. The first superpowered man walked out of the Nevada desert in 1950, and the world was forever changed. Across the planet, men and women with exceptional abilities made themselves known. At first, they were little more than another source of fear in the era of Mutually Assured Destruction, but over time attitudes changed and the concept of the Superhero was created in the city of Los Angeles. From there the phenomenon spread across the globe; superheroes went from being feared arms of the state to a symbol of hope in these maddening times. Times have changed. Sixty years from the emergence of the first superhero, the City of London stands on a precipice. Two years have passed since the madman Fawkes nearly brought down the United Kingdom and the remnants of the Bow Street Runners, London's premier superhero team, are struggling to keep order in a city that seems on the brink of collapse. London stands on a knife's edge, with criminal organisations that once stuck to the shadows becoming more bold, and ancient powers from myth and legend making themselves known. Alexander Laszewski has recently 'awakened' and has become entirely unremakable, effectively making himself invisible to the world. He must use his newfound power to navigate a city on the edge of collapse. If only he could figure out how to turn it off.

Summoning Shenanigans
Adding in [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Sean was a chemist on Earth with a lovely family life. Everything was going well, until a group of gods decide to summon him to their world. An unfortunate appearance by the trickster god derailed a normal summoning, and now Sean finds himself in a pickle. Content warning: There will be profanity and quite probably some gore, though the point of the story will not revovle around any gory scenes. I'm also including traumatising content as there will for sure be slavery and rape. The rape will be alluded to and not described, there are other places for that. I think this also explains the grimdark tag.
