Kate wiped the tears that were falling from her eyes from her face and tried to go about her day as usual. She took a shower and changed into a pair of shorts and a tank top and started to do her hair. She had let it go back to her natural hair color of dark brown and she had grown it out to just under her breasts. Once her hair was all straightened, she went into the living room and called Val.
“Hello?” A teary Val answered. Kate sighed and tucked her feet under her.
“Hi honey, are you okay?” She said. Val sniffled and sighed.
“I guess so. It’s just gonna be so hard not having him here during my pregnancy you know?” She said. Kate nodded even though she couldn’t see her.
“I know honey, but I’ll be here. When did you want me to come over anyway?” She asked. Val sniffled again.
“Now? Please?” She said. Kate chuckled.
“Okay sweetie, I’ll be there in a little while.” She said.
“Thanks again Kate for staying with me. I don’t think I could do this alone.” Val said. Kate smiled.
“You’re welcome Val. That’s what family’s for.” She said.
“See you soon.” Val said.
Then they hung up and Kate went to pack a few things for tonight and she decided she would come back tomorrow for the rest of her things. When she was finished packing, Kate bent down and picked up Pinkly and carried her out to the car. Kate stuck the key in the ignition and started the car.
“You should’ve known, the price of evil. And it hurts to say that you belong here. No one to call, everybody to fear. Your tragic fate is looking so clear. Ohhh it’s your fucking nightmare.”

Kate smiled at the guys latest single and drove off towards Val’s house. To Kate’s surprise, Val was waiting for her on the front porch. Kate’s heart broke the moment she saw her. Val’s eyes were all red and puffy and she was still in her pajamas. Kate shut off the car and walked over to her. Val closed her eyes and Kate sat down beside her and wrapped her arms around her.
“It’ll be alright honey. We’ll get through this together.” Kate said to Val.
Val took in a deep breath and nodded. Kate kissed her temple softly then let her go. Val gripped her hand and looked out at the sky.
“I’m really scared Kate.” She said. Kate turned her head and looked at her. She gave Val’s hand a squeeze and faced her.
“I am too. But we’ll be just fine. I promise.” Val nodded and leaned her head and Kate’s shoulder.
“Okay, now let’s go inside and I’ll make some breakfast.” Kate said. Val nodded and Kate pulled her up.
Pinkly yipped from the car and Kate ran over to let her out.
“I’m sorry baby, I didn’t mean it.” Kate said to Pinkly. The dog just trotted over to Val and Val giggled.
“Brian would kill me if something happens to her.” Kate said as she made her way back to Val.
Val raised her eyebrow and opened the door.
“I’m serious, I think he loves her more than me.” Both girls laughed and went inside to have some breakfast.
Kate made Val sit down at the table while she whipped up something to eat. Ever since she and Brian had been living together, he had been teaching her how to cook. Kate wasn’t ashamed to admit that she used to be a horrific cook. She burnt everything she tried to make. But with Brian’s help, she could cook just about anything now.

For breakfast, she settled on chocolate chip pancakes with toast and some bacon.
“Here you go honey, enjoy.” She said as she set a plate down in front of Val.
Val beamed at her and sunk her fork into the warm, fluffy pancakes.
“Oh my God, Kate these are amazing.” Val said with a mouthful. Kate laughed and sipped some juice.
“You’re welcome.” She said with a smile.
“I see Brian’s been teaching you to cook?” Val asked. Kate nodded.
“Yeah, every night he teaches me something new.” She said.
Val got quiet and she swallowed hard. Kate sighed and smiled weakly at her.
“Well, it looks like we’ll have a lot of catching up to do.” She said. Val smiled back and reached her hand across the table.
“That’s half the fun.” Val said with a twinkle in her eye.
Kate raised her eyebrow and tilted her head.
“What do you mean?” She asked. Val laughed and smiled.
“The ‘catching up’. The sex is always so much better after Matt’s been on tour.” Val said. Kate blushed and tried to laugh.
“I’m serious! He’s like an animal when he comes home. We lock ourselves in the bedroom for at least a whole day and just fuck.” She said. Kate put her hand over her mouth and stood up to clean her plate.
“Just wait and see. Brian won’t be able to keep his prick away from you.” Val said. Kate rolled her eyes and shook her head.
Val giggled and cleaned her plate off as well.
“Well I’m going to take a shower and get ready for the day. What do you say we hit the store and load up on junk food and movies?” Val asked as she walked down the hall.
Kate nodded and went out onto the porch to have a cigarette. She inhaled the poison deep into her lungs, and then blew it out into the air. She sighed and leaned against the railing and closed her eyes. She let a few tears slip out of her eyes and she let them roll down her cheeks and onto the ground below her.
“I miss you already.” She whispered to no one.
