《As Straight As The Crow Flies {a Sons of Anarchy story}》chapter sixteen

“Mick, can you take these empty bottles out to the trash can?” Kip asked me.
It has been about two weeks since I told Jax about Derek and things have been great. Jax and I are closer than ever and I finally feel like I’m safe. I don’t feel like I have to look over my shoulder anymore and fear that I’m going to run into Derek. Jax promised me that he wouldn’t let Derek near me ever again and I believe him. I’m also starting to get used to Jax being in dangerous situations all the time. When he comes home late and scratched up, I’m not as worried as I was before. He usually tells me what happened or what’s going to happen so I don’t have to be afraid.
Gemma and I are also a lot closer. After the scare with Jax and the bomb, I realized that she’s still his mother and still sees him as her little boy. Jax thought it would be a good idea to tell her about my past and when I did, she hugged me so tightly and when she pulled away she had tears in her eyes. She could tell I was hiding from something but she never guessed that. I feel like even if I can’t be with my own mother, at least I have Gemma.
“Sure, Kip.” I said as I took the box from his hands.
As I walked outside, I saw Jax pull in. A girl was on the back of his bike. I twinge of jealously shot through me but I tried to push it down. When she got off the bike, I could see she was wearing a short jean skirt and a hot pink tube top with heels I’m sure the most experienced stripper couldn’t even wear. Her hair was long and blonde and she had a few bracelets on each wrist. I watched him look at her ass as she started to walk away. She stopped and turned back around to face him.
“Don’t forget about the wrap party tonight, Jax.” She flirted.
She put her finger under his chin and pulled slightly on his beard. He smirked at her and winked.
“Don’t worry darlin’, I’ll be there.” He said.
Wrap party? What the hell was a wrap party and why don’t I know about it? Why is Jax promising to go? I was so mad that I dropped the box full of glass bottles on the concrete. They shattered and drew everyone’s attention to me. The girl gave me a snotty smirk and Jax raised his eyebrow at me. Kip came out of the club and looked at me and then to the girl and Jax.
“Hey Sack, give Ima a ride home would you?” Jax called out.
Kip nodded and walked over to her. She gave him a less than pleasant look before following him to his bike. I let out a deep breath and bent down to pick up the pieces of glass that had escaped from the box.
“Everything okay?” Jax asked, now standing over me.
I swallowed back some nasty words and just nodded.
“Yep, the box slipped that’s all.” I managed to say.
After cleaning up the glass, I dumped the box in the trash and stormed back into the club. Gemma was sitting at the bar with her eyebrow raised. I brushed her off and went to get myself a drink.
“Are you okay with that?” She asked me.
I took a long drink before answering her.
“Okay with what?” I asked.

She gave me a hard stare and leaned her arms on the bar.
“That rubbing all up on Jax.” She said.
I just shook my head and rolled my eyes. Gemma nodded and took a drink of her coffee.
“I trust him, I guess.” I said after a few beats of silence.
Gemma chuckled and stood up so that she was eye to eye with me. She looked out at Jax who was talking to Opie in the parking lot.
“You don’t worry about the man, sweetie. It’s them. All of them is what you have to worry about.” She said in a quiet voice.
“You have to show them that he’s not just a free dick anymore.” She continued.
I raised my eyebrow and crossed my arms over my chest.
“What do you mean? Like hit them?” I asked.
Gemma smiled and laughed a little.
“Sure. Hit, scratch, kick, whatever. But until you do, they won’t stop.” She warned.
I just sighed and she leaned over and kissed my cheek.
“Don’t worry baby. It’ll all work out.” She whispered to me softly.
I nodded and she went back into the office. I sunk into the couch and pulled my legs up under me. So, this is the life of an old lady. You take care of the man, his kids and his club and then watch him openly flirt with other women? I can’t believe that. It doesn’t seem like that’s how it works with Gemma and Clay. But maybe that’s because he’s the president. I groaned and laid my head down on the arm of the couch.
Kip came back a little while later and came over to me. He sat down on the other couch and watched me.
“You okay?” He asked softly.
I shrugged and looked away. Wait a minute. He would know all about the wrap party. I shifted in my seat so that I was facing him and I chewed on my bottom lip.
“Kip, what’s a wrap party?” I asked him.
He shrugged and relaxed into the couch.
“Oh you know, it’s when the porn studio finishes taping a movie they have a huge party. And since we’re partners in the business we get to go. It’s mostly girls and porn and booze.” He said.
Perfect. A party that I wasn’t supposed to know about that was basically a huge hook up fest. Kip studied me for a second before swearing under his breath.
“You didn’t know about it, did you?” He asked me.
I shook my head and looked down. I could feel myself tearing up over it.
“Jax probably didn’t tell you because he wasn’t planning on going.” Kip said quickly.
I shot him a knowing look and Kip rubbed the back of his neck.
“Kip, I heard him tell that slut that he would be there.” I said.
Neither of us said anything for a while. Gemma’s advice started echoing in my mind and I developed a plan.
“Are you going to this party?” I asked him.
Kip looked at me strangely and then he nodded slowly.
“Yeah..why?” He asked.
I nodded once and stood up.
“Good, then you can take me.” I said.
Kip shook his head frantically and jumped up.
“No way. Not a chance I’m gonna show up at a wrap party with the VPs old lady.” He said.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head.
“No stupid, I don’t mean ‘take me’ take me. I mean pick me up and bring me, but I’ll go in myself. I just need to see what Jax is planning on doing at this party.” I said.

Kip looked around to see if anyone was listening. He shifted from foot to foot and tugged on his hair.
“McKayla, I don’t think that’s a good idea. I mean if Jax wanted you to go, he would’ve said something to you.” He said.
I crossed my arms and glared at him. He bit his lip and sighed deeply.
“Please, I’m asking you as a friend Kip.” I asked him softly.
He looked at me, studying me before sighing and dropping his head.
“Fine, I guess I’ll pick you up at Jax’s place around 10.” He said finally.
I smiled and kissed his cheek.
“Thanks Kip. I owe you one.” I said.
He shook his head and mumbled something to himself as he walked out of the club. If Jax wants to go to this party and not tell me, I can play that game too. I caught a ride home with Gemma and waited for my plan to unfold.
She decided to take Abel for the night which worked out for me. Jax came home around 9 and went straight to the bedroom to change.
“Where are you going?” I asked him.
“Just some club shit. I won’t be too late.” He said without turning around.
A lump lodged itself in my throat. He still wouldn’t tell me. As he pulled his cut back on, he turned around and smiled at me. I forced one back and he kissed me softly.
“Where’s the kid?” He asked.
I leaned against the doorframe and crossed my arms.
“Your mom took him for the night.” I said.
He nodded absentmindedly and went into the kitchen. I pushed myself from the wall and followed him.
“Do you have to go? I mean we do have the whole house to ourselves.” I said with a hint of seductiveness.
Jax smirked at me and pulled me in for another kiss. This one was hard and passionate. When he pulled away, he was smiling. He kept his hand on my face for a moment and looked into my eyes.
“I’m sorry, but I do have to go. We all do tonight.” He said.
Another lie. I just smiled and nodded. He smiled back and kissed my forehead.
“You don’t have to wait up for me babe.” He said as he walked out the door.
I heard the engine of the bike roar to life as he sped off down the street. Jax was flat out lying to me. He was never going to tell me about the party. I was just supposed to let him go and fuck some random porn star and then come home like it never happened. Yeah, well that’s just not the kind of girl I am.
I had just enough time to change my clothes before Kip arrived. I put on a different pair of jeans and a different shirt and brushed out my hair. Kip pulled up a few minutes later. He had his cut on and a white t-shirt. He looked at me nervously as he handed me his helmet.
“I still think this is a bad idea.” He said as I climbed on the back of his bike.
“Listen, you’re not going to get into any trouble for this I promise. It’ll all fall on me.” I said.
He sighed and we sped off to the porn studio. When we pulled in, I could hear the music from outside of the warehouse. Kip parked next to the other bikes and I got off.
“Alright, you go ahead in. I’ll come in a little.” I said.
He nodded and started to walk off. I caught his arm and spun him around.
“Hey, try to act normal okay?” I asked.
He chuckled and nodded and I let him go. I waited for a half hour before heading to the building. The sound of moaning filled the air and on all of the TV screens was porn. Ima was the main slut in almost all of the films. Great, my boyfriend was in the sights of one of the biggest porn stars on film. The studio was gigantic. There were so many people inside that no one even noticed me. The copious amounts of alcohol in the room helped too. As I made my way through the room, I spotted everyone but Jax and Ima. Then, out of the blue, I heard the bitch chuckle. I snapped my head in the direction of the sound and my heart stopped.
There, in the corner was Ima sitting on top of someone. Her top was untied and down and she was sticking her tongue down his throat. I recognized the shoes and the way he was sitting in the chair. Ima shifted to the left for a second and that’s when I saw him. She was sitting on Jax and she was working on his belt. I saw red. I was so furious. Before I knew what was happening, I was behind her.
My hand shot out in front of me and latched on to her hair. She screamed as I yanked her off of him and dragged her to the table they had a lot of the alcohol on. I could hear Jax yelling my name, but I ignored him. I slammed Ima’s face hard off of the table and dropped her to the floor. Blood was spewing from her nose like a faucet and she was screaming bloody murder. I straddled her skinny waist and pinned her arms down over her head.
“Stay the hell away from Jax if you know what’s good for you. Bitch.” I said harshly into her ear.
“McKayla! Enough!” Jax shouted at me.
I felt hands around me and I was lifted up off of her and someone was dragging me outside. It was Tig.
“Easy sweetheart. Take it easy.” He said.
I was fighting him tooth and nail the whole way outside. I think I even drew blood. Once we were outside, I realized I was shaking. I was so angry that I couldn’t contain myself. Tig just leaned against the wall and took out his cigarettes.
“Do you want one?” He asked me calmly.
I took a deep breath and reached for one. He pulled out his lighter and lit it for me.
“For the record, that was beautiful.” He said with a smug smile on his face.
I glared at him and blew smoke out of my nose.
“Shut up, Tig.” I spat.
He chuckled and nodded and took a drag from his own cigarette. A few seconds later, Jax came bursting through the door and stared at me.
“What the hell was that!” He shouted at me.
I gripped the railing and pushed myself around to face him.
“What was that?! What the hell were you doing Jax!?” I shouted back.
He shook his head and ran his hands through his hair. I could see he was pissed but I didn’t care. So was I.
“Nothing! I wasn’t doing anything!” He yelled.
I shook my head and crossed my arms.
“Really? That’s why her top was down and your pants are unbuttoned.” I said.
Tig chuckled and Jax shot him a deathly glare. He looked down and quickly buttoned up his pants. Tig pushed off the wall and went back inside.
“McKayla, what the hell are you even doing here?” He asked me in a more calm voice.
I chuckled darkly and took another drag.
“What, wasn’t I supposed to find out about this? Is this what it means to be an old lady, Jax? You go off to porn parties and get used pussy while I’m at home, waiting for you and just never find out about it? I don’t think so.” I said darkly.
Jax sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.
“Babe, it’s just club shit. I didn’t tell you because I knew you’d react like this.” He said.
He was trying to reason with me. He was trying to sweep this under the rug and I wasn’t having it. I shook my head and tossed my cigarette.
“Bullshit, Jax. You didn’t want to me know that you’re getting some on the side.”
Before he could answer, a cop car pulled up and Jax groaned. Unser walked out and slowly walked over to us.
“I got a call saying McKayla assaulted a girl here and busted her nose.” He said.
He looked at me with surprise and a small smile. The door to the studio opened and Ima came crashing through it with Luanne.
“Look what this bitch did to me! I won’t be able to work for weeks, looking like this! Arrest her!” She shouted.
Damn. I really did a number on her. They got the bleeding to stop but under her eyes were big black bruises already and her nose was clearly broken. Tig and Chibs came out to bring the girls back inside.
“I’m sorry, but I got to take you in.” Unser said to me.
He took a few steps forward and Jax stepped between us.
“No you don’t, it was just a misunderstanding.” He said.
I pushed him out of the way and faced Unser.
“I’m sorry Jax, but I saw her with my own eyes. I have to arrest her.” He said.
He took his cuffs from his belt and opened them up.
“Do you have to use the cuffs?” Jax asked him.
“Just do it.” I said.
Unser sighed and cuffed me with my arms in front and walked me to the cruiser. He put his hand on my head and helped me inside. I saw him give Jax a sympathetic look before getting in himself. He started the car and we headed to the police station.
“You really did a number on her.” He asked me as we drove.
I didn’t say anything. I just looked out the window.
“Did you catch Jax cheating with her?” He asked.
I bit my lip and shook my head.
“Not exactly, almost though.” I said.
Unser nodded and we rode the rest of the way in silence. When we got to the police station, Unser walked me down to the holding cells and locked me in one.
“Now, I can’t do anything with you until morning, so this is where you’re supposed to stay. But I’m sure Jax will be here any minute to bail you out.” He said.
I shook my head and sat down on the cot.
“No, I don’t want him to.” I said.
Unser raised his eyebrow and looked at me.
“You’d rather stay here all night?” He asked.
I nodded and he sighed.
“Alright. I’ll let him know. But he’s not gonna like it.” He said.
I rolled my eyes.
“I don’t care what he likes, Wayne.” I said.
Unser didn’t say anything. He just sighed and walked back upstairs. Right now, I wanted to be as far from Jax Teller as I possibly could and this seemed like the best place to be.
