Kat and I watched movies and ate icecream for the rest of the night. My eyes felt heavy as we finished the second movie. "I think I'm gonna try to sleep, i have to be at the hospital in morning" I said and stood up. "You know I'm coming with you" She said sternly and stood up. "Only if you want to." I said quietly and pushed my sleeves down. "I'm coming." She said and gave me a quick hug before disappearing into the guest room. I chuckled a little bit and went to my room. Now was the time I would start to miss Colby the most. But I meant what I said, I had dealt with some pretty tough stuff by myself. I fell asleep almost immediately, which rarely happens.

I sat in the hospital room alone, the heart monitor was beating steadily as I looked down at my phone. Colby texted me and a smile crept on my face. That was until I read it.

The heart monitor picked up speed and then flatlined.

I bolted up catching my breath. Tears formed in my eyes, I shook my head trying to calm down. I wanted to call Colby, but he was still on the plane. It didn't take long for me to calm down fully, since the dream was very short, but I couldn't fall back asleep. I grabbed my phone and pushed record as I propped it up in front of me, I quietly sang a lullaby. Once I was finished I posted it on Instagram. I hadn't sang since the night of the showcase, and I truly forgot how quickly it can cheer me up. I sat in my bed awake for a couple more hours until I finally fell back asleep.

I woke up to the sun shining in my face, I checked my phone to see a text from Colby,

My mind went to my dream and my heart started racing. There's no way he wants me to call him just so he can break up with me. I rolled my eyes at how stupid I felt.

"Hey baby" he answered after the second ring

"Hey, how was the flight?" I said and got out of bed, putting him on speaker phone.

"Long, but I slept the whole time. How did you sleep?"

"I slept fine." I lied, he didn't need to worry about me.

"That instagram post says otherwise." He laughed a little,

"I had a nightmare and was up for a couple hours but after that I slept fine." I admitted.

"Wanna talk about it?" I smiled slightly,

"No not particularly" he sighed,

"Are you going to the hospital now or are you going to wait for the doctor to call?" The fact that he was still so invested in what was happening really made my heart beat for him.

"Kat and I are going to go soon I think, I don't even know if she's awake." I slipped on one of his hoodies that I had.

"I wish I could be there for you." He said as I sat on the bed again. "And hold your hand through it all."

I sighed, "I wish you were here too...but if you get this deal with hot topic, it's going to be insane. I'm so proud of you." I braided my hair as I spoke, trying to keep my hands busy.

"I know, it's just the timing is so bad...I told you I wouldn't leave your side." I could hear his voice cracking.

"It's okay Colby, I know you would be here in a flash if I asked you to." He was silent for a second,

"Cora, please promise me you would tell me to come if you needed me there. I know you're pretty headstrong and think you can handle things by yourself but I want you to know I'll be there if you need me." I smiled,

"I promise I'll let you know. I can only stay here a couple more days anyways...I'll be fine Colby but if I'm not I'll let you know."

"Okay, I have to go get ready for this meeting..I'll talk to you later okay?"

"Okay," I said and nodded my head even though he couldn't see me.

I hung up the phone and continued to get ready.

Kat was sitting on the couch eating a bowl of cereal when I walked out, "do you want some?" She said with a full mouth and gestured to the box of Cocoa Puffs sitting on the table in front of her. I laughed and walked up to her scooping a handful out of the box and eating it, "we gotta go" I said with a mouth full of food. She stood up and scooped all the cereal in her mouth and put her dish in the sink.
