The gang sat in the basement and Eric was dealing out cards for the game they were about to play when Jackie jumped down from the dryer and squealed.
"Inside voices!" Lucy warned.
"Michael, they're opening a disco!"
"Where?"
"In Kenosha! You can wear your David Bowie butthuggers!"
"Michael that would be super!" Hyde mocked Jackie.
"Laugh all you want man but my butt looks pretty good in those," Kelso defended himself.
"I haven't been dancing in forever," Lucy laughed as Jackie pulled her up. The two started twirling and swaying without any music.
"Are you guys crazy? I mean a disco? I'm out," Eric said, looking at his cards.
"I don't know it might be kind of fun to go dancing," Donna shrugged.
"Or we could go," Eric perked up and Lucy laughed at how whipped her brother was.
"I fold," Kelso said as he stood up.
"Well man if you're out go make some popcorn—and take her with you," Hyde turned to look at Jackie and Lucy dancing.
Lucy whined as Jackie was dragged upstairs, "My dancing partner," she continued swaying and flitting her skirt around, "Steven come dance with me!" she laughed as she tried to pull him up.
"Not happening doll," he didn't budge.
"I'll dance with the pretty lady!" Fez jumped up and started twirling Lucy around, "Wait what is disco?" he said while still dancing.
"Disco is from hell, ok?" Hyde started, "Not the cool part of hell with all the murderers but the lame ass part where all the bad accountants live!"
"Don't listen to him Fez," Lucy said still dancing, "Disco is cool. Disco is how people in cities dance. And city people know what's cool. It's people like Mr. Party Pooper here, who don't know what's cool."
"That's what the government wants you to think," Hyde whispered.
"Donna, excuse me what are you doing?" Eric asked.
"Looking at Kelso's cards," she said nonchalantly as she reached a crossed the table.
"That's cheating!" Eric yelled.
"Eric we can't find the popcorn!" Jackie yelled from upstairs.
Eric began to get up but plopped back down on the couch, "Hey Donna, why don't you take a look at my cards now so you don't have to wait for me to leave? No go ahead take a look!" he shoved the cards in Donna's face.
"You got nothing!" Donna said.
"Yeah and I'm gonna bluff so watch out!" Eric ran up the stairs.
Fez twirled Lucy again and Hyde pulled her into his lap, Fez pouted and sat back in his seat. "Donna has stuff for Eric yes?" Fez asked.
"Thing." Hyde and Lucy corrected at once.
Donna buried her head in her hands.
"Why do you have a thing for my brother? I mean I love him but he's scrawny, smart mouthed, spineless, borderline directionless—" Lucy counted off her fingers.
"He makes me laugh, he doesn't ask me stupid questions, he's smart, you know..." Donna shrugged.
"No, I don't know because I'm like that too. And I'm way prettier than Eric so, I think you picked the wrong twin," Lucy gestured to herself.
Donna rolled her eyes and Hyde chuckled.
Fez waved his hand in the air, "I know!"
"Yes! Fez!" Hyde called on him.
"It's because Eric is noble and a woman wants her first love making to be in the arms of a man she can trust," he folded his hands in his lap, "It is subconscious, that's also why Lucy is always with you. She cannot trust me because of my rugged handsomeness."

"Fez, go make popcorn," Hyde said, his arms around Lucy loosened.
Without thinking, Lucy pushed herself off of Hyde and sat over on the armrest, peering over Donna to look at her cards, "You don't have anything either!" Lucy yelled as Donna turned to smack her.
❁
Eric was able to convince their parents to allow them to stay out later in order to get back from Kenosha. However, he wasn't able to convince them to help out with gas money; after going through her money, which she kept hidden under her mattress, Lucy was able to help out a bit—but still not enough for the drive.
Lucy leaned against the fridge in the garage as the boys scrounged for cans to collect.
"I still can't believe you and Jackie are dragging everyone to that disco. So sad," Hyde looked to Kelso. "I mean her I understand," Hyde's eyes darted to Lucy who was inspecting her manicure.
"What? So I like to dance," Lucy waved her hand dismissively.
"No, I'm just going to meet Kenosha chicks. I'm breaking up with Jackie," Kelso said defensively.
"Maybe instead of dragging her along for your own pleasure actually break up with her. Or if you actually do like her, defend her when your asshats of friends make fun of her," Lucy pursed her lips.
"Pssh what do you know?" Kelso looked at her confused by what she said.
Lucy just rolled her eyes at the boy.
"Get a tall chick. You and Jackie look so silly together," Fez said thoughtfully.
"Short girls aren't that bad!" Lucy spoke up defensively as she pouted.
"Of course not shortstack," Eric said as he got another can.
"Snicklefritz!" Lucy pointed at her brother.
"Ok that's all the deposit bottles, we need aluminum cans. We've got to have at least $1.15 worth of gas," Eric looked to their father, silently begging him to help pay for gas.
"Come on, my dad's got a ton of empties," Kelso said as the four of them walked out of the garage.
"Steven, are you coming?" Lucy popped her head back into the garage, to see Hyde and her father talking.
"If you want to go dancing doll, you have to pay for it yourself. I'm not going," Hyde said.
Lucy just scoffed and walked out to help find cans to pay for their trip.
❁
Lucy walked through the kitchen into the living room, "Mama do you know where my—" she stopped short when she opened the door slightly.
She saw Hyde and her mother dancing in the living room, Lucy had to stifle a laugh as she quietly closed the door and stepped back into the kitchen. She stood against the wall and her hands covering her mouth. Steven Hyde didn't know how to dance and the poor soul had her mother teaching him. Once she composed herself she realized there was no need for Steven to learn how to dance if he wasn't going to Kenosha. She couldn't imagine what had made him change his mind.
❁
The group was all outside, Kitty had ran inside to get a camera and bombard them with photos.
Lucy tapped her foot, ready to get the dreaded photos over with and get to Kenosha. Jackie had helped her with her outfit and makeup; she looked amazing in her low cut black romper, Red had almost not let her out of the house but Jackie had quickly handed her a jean jacket to cover up with until they got out of the house.

Lucy shoved Eric, who looked at her quizzically until Lucy started nodding towards Donna, encouraging him to go and talk to her.
"Ok we're ready to take photos!" Kitty exclaimed as she waved around her camera. She began clicking away as the group made idiotic poses. "Steven get in closer!" Kitty commanded. "Ok let's all smush together! Now just the girls!"
The boys stood to the side as Jackie, Donna, and Lucy all gave stoic modelesque gazes to the camera. The boys mocked them behind the camera, causing the trio to crack up.
Then the boys stepped in and took ridiculous photos as Kitty clicked away.
"Okay, big smiles!" Kitty reminded them.
Eric stepped forward, "Hey Mom, why don't I take pictures of you?"
"Oh no, no no. Now go, you'll be late." Kitty ushered them into the car.
Everyone piled in, except for Steven who whispered something to Kitty and kissed her on the cheek. Causing Midge to give Kitty a shocked look.
"Got a thing for older women?" Lucy smirked as she stood by the open car door as Steven slid into his seat.
"Shut up," he mumbled, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her into his lap as the Vista Cruiser started and pulled out of the driveway.
❁
They arrived to the disco and Jackie instantly pulled Lucy to the dance floor. Lucy rolled her eyes when her friend quickly abandoned her to dance with Michael, who looked like he was having a seizure.
As soon as Lucy was alone, boys on the dance floor quickly swarmed around, one of them successfully pulling her to his side and the pair began dancing. Before the song was over Eric had pulled her from the boy's grasp, she sighed at the protective nature of her brother and was dragged to sit down besides a pouting Jackie.
"You shouldn't dance with boys like that," Eric scolded.
"I'll dance how I please little brother," Lucy sassed.
"Boys like that are trouble," Hyde said as he and her brother glared at the brunette, leather-clad boy passing a joint with his friends in the corner, staring at Lucy across the room.
"Okay grandpa," she sighed.
"At least he was a good dancer!" Jackie sighed as she looked to her boyfriend, disappointed.
Kelso walked back over to the table confused, "Jackie, where'd you go?"
"I had to go get something for you to bite on because I told everyone you were having a seizure!" she yelled in frustration.
"When do they play the disco music?" Fez asked.
"This is disco music," Eric answered, confused.
"No, no this is samba!" Fez nodded.
"Fez, it's disco man, it's crap," Hyde said unimpressed.
"Oh...I think I like this crap. Come Jackie, let's get down," Fez stood up, grabbing Jackie's hand.
"No I think I'm a little tired," Jackie said, shooting a look to Lucy for help.
"Don't resist me mama," Fez tilted Jackie's chin towards him.
Lucy laughed, as she pushed Jackie out of her seat for Fez to quite literally sweep her off her feet.
"I think you lost your date," Donna looked to Kelso.
"Yeah it's cool 'cause Jackie and I are history!" Kelso yelled, hoping for Jackie to hear.
The group turned to watch as Jackie and Fez danced. The dancefloor literally cleared to make room for them. Fez picked Jackie up and spun her around.
"She must not weigh that much," Eric said doubtfully.
"Is she touching his ass?" Kelso yelled as Jackie's leg wrapped around Fez and they continued dancing.
The pair was about to exit the dancefloor when the next song came on and Fez dragged Jackie back, "Listen! Merengue!"
"They're really good!" Donna noted.
"Yeah if you want to dance that way," Kelso sulked.
"I would, but someone pulled me away," Lucy crossed her arms in front of her chest.
"You want to dance?" Hyde quickly turned to Lucy.
"With you?" she tapped her finger to her chin, as if in thought, "Sure," she smiled.
Hyde stood up and held out his hand. Lucy smiled as she took his hand and the two walked to the dancefloor. He pulled her close and the two danced along with the slow song playing.
"So what? You've danced with nearly all the Forman women now?" Lucy asked with a smirk.
"You knew?"
"Well I've never seen you dance a day in your live, so yeah I figured," she chuckled. "Plus I walked in on you waltzing with my mother."
"Ah, I thought I felt a drop in temperature, must've been your cold heart," he teased.
"Shut up!" she laughed.
Her smile faltered slightly when she looked up at him. "This is nice," he said softly.
"Told you disco is cool," she tried to joke but her voice faltered when he didn't look away from her.
"No it's not," he smirked as he dipped her. "Lucy, I feel like I want to kiss you," he whispered.
Lucy chuckled nervously, thinking he was making fun of her.
"You don't have to kiss me back if you don't want," he said. Lucy's eyes lit up and she was about to tease him when he said, "I'm not kidding."
"Let's just dance," she whispered, too shocked to say anything else.
The song ended and the two quickly stepped away from eachother, as if snapping out of a dream. Both of them desperately hiding that they wished they hadn't woken up.
❁
The gang was walking to the car to leave. Lucy had made it to the car and cursed, "I left my jacket, I'll be right back."
She ran back into the disco and ran to the table looking for her jacket and not being able to find it.
"Looking for something?" a voice asked. She turned around to see the boy she was dancing with earlier, twirling her jacket.
"So that's how you get a girl's attention? Steal her stuff?" Lucy smirked.
"Only the pretty ones," the boy shrugged. He stepped closer to her and she crossed her arms, a smirk still in her lips. "What's your name?" the boy asked, handing her her jacket back.
"Lucy Forman, yours?" she asked blandly, trying to sound uninterested, it's what Jackie told her to do.
"Nick Thompson," he mimicked her uninterested tone. "So that boy you were dancing with, is he your boyfriend?"
"Steven? Oh god no," she couldn't help but laugh.
"Good. So I could call you?" Nick asked.
Lucy hesitated for a moment, "Sure. But you have to memorize the number."
"Serious?" the boy laughed in disbelief.
"Deadly. If you don't memorize it, I know you didn't care enough," she smirked.
Nick laughed again, "You're clever, I like you. What's the number?"
Lucy laughed and gave him her number before she heard the honking of the Vista Cruiser outside and darting out to not keep them waiting.

8 78NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
