Rosa was sat at the end of her bed. Her eyes were wondering the wall of photos she had. Just thinking. About the fact that in less than 24hrs she would be part of a Spanish mafia working all around America. She would no longer be Rosalita Diaz, but Pearla Ramírez. She remembered how pimento turned out from his undercover and she was more than scared she would end up the same.

Rosa was picked for this undercover out of all the Spanish speaking detectives in Brooklyn because Holt and Captain Jameson agreed she was the toughest. Even though Holt knew all about her fake facades at work, he still thought she would be the best for this. Rosa wanted to believe him. She really did, but she was terrified.

Best case: she gets her ranking up to a higher superiority, collects the data, finds a way to get all the major dealers in one place, makes the arrest and gets home within a year or two. Worst case: she ends up dead.

She shook head trying not to think about the current possibility of death. Instead her attention focused back to the pictures. The pictures of everyone she loved. Olivia, Arlo, Amy, Charles, her brunch friends, Jenny, Gina.... Gina. She couldn't take her eyes off the picture of Gina. It was one Gina had put up a few weeks before she left. It was taken by Darlene, Gina's mother, the day the two went over for dinner. Gina had fallen asleep sitting in Rosa's lap, face buried into her shoulder. Rosa was looking down at her, lips curled in a light smile.

She remembered the feeling of that moment and looking at that picture made Rosa's heart ache. She was so in love and you could see it in her eyes. One positive to this undercover was not having to deal with Gina being around again anymore. It could be a helpful time to get her shit right. While also trying to take down a mafia single handedly of course.

The detective was abruptly snapped out her trance when there was a pounding at the door. A loud, heavy knock filled the house. It was just gone 2 in the morning and that was the last thing Rosa wanted to hear. She hastily got up and walked off to the front door. Before she could get there, they knocked again.

"Alright keep your pants on!" Rosa mumbled under her breath, shuffling and grabbing the door handle. When she opened it she was met with a sight she did not want. Not the night before she went away for at least a year.

The red head administrator stood at the door. Her eyes were broken. From just one look Rosa could see right through Gina. She was mentally shattered. Rosa knew that feeling all too well. The circles under Gina's eyes were increasingly darker than usual, her auburn hair was an absolute mess. No smile could hide the pain in Gina right now.

"Gina?" Rosa said looking at her. "Gina I'm not in the mood for this right now."

"Please just listen to me," The small woman stepped forward. "Milton and I-"

"FOR FUCK SAKE GINA! I LEAVE HOME TOMORROW TO LIVE WITH FUCKING SPANISH DRUG DEALERS FOR GOD KNOWS HOW MANY YEARS AND ALL YOU WANT TO FUCKING DO IS TALK ABOUT YOU AND MILTON. YOU AND THAT STUPID MAN. LEAVE ME ALONE AND GO HOME!" Rosa shouted slamming the door.

"ROSA NO OPEN UP!" Gina cried banging on the door. The wood of the door may be thick but the one glass pane in the centre of it made it hard to drown out anything Gina was saying. "Please Rosa. Hear me out!"

"What do you want Gina. What could you possibly want at two in the morning!?" Rosa stood looking at the closed door. Gina stood on the other side.

"You. I want YOU!" Gina yelled, throwing her head forward to rest on the door. She let out a long gut-wrenching sob.

"What?!" Rosa stepped closer to the door. Gina screamed from outside as the heavens suddenly opened and she became drenched. Even with the rain, Rosa kept the door shut leaving Gina outside.

"Over the past two years or so my life has been fucked up and so has yours. I thought it would be easy. I thought tricking you and then just walking away would be easy because let's be honest, I do it everyday if my life. So why was it difficult this time? I'll tell you why. Because I fell in love. At first I was certain it was Milton. That I had fallen in love with him while making you think you were the one I loved. I was obviously trying so hard to fool you that I ended up fooling myself. I fell so madly in love, but I didn't fall in love with Milton. I didn't fall in love with the man who asked me to marry him," Rosa's eyes widened. *Milton proposed? She rejected him?* Gina continued. "I fell in love with person I was trying so hard not to. Rosa, I fell so hopelessly in love with you." Rosa gasped. What the hell was happening? "Milton is a great guy but you know what?" Gina shouted over the down pour.

"What?" Rosa asked just loud enough for Gina to hear her. A tear running down her cheek.

"He's not the person I want to wake up to every morning,

He's not the one I want to go to sleep holding every night,

He's not the one I want to wait for to come home so I can cuddle,

He's not the one I want to dance with,

He's not the one I want to star gaze with,

He's not the one I want to raise Iggy with,

He's not the one I want to marry, walk down the aisle to,

He's not the one I want to grow old with,

He's not the one I want to share my life with,

He's not the one I want to die holding,

HE'S.NOT.YOU."

"Gina..." Rosa opened the front door. The red head was drenched. Absolutely wet through. Her hair was a soggy mess and her eyes were bloodshot and tired but somehow Rosa couldn't help but embrace her beauty. "I-"

"I'm not done," Gina held up her hand to silence Rosa. "Leaving you was the worst decision of my life and I will never forgive myself. I will never forgive myself for the amount I hurt you and I know I don't deserve a second chance, I know it, but I couldn't let you leave tomorrow without telling you. I don't know the next time I will see you or if I ever will again and I don't think I would have been able to live with the fact I never told you. I never got to tell you I know I screwed up and I'm sorry. I know 'sorry' is just a word but from the bottom of my heart I mean it. I am so deeply sorry Rosa. The only reason I pushed you away is because I was scared. I was scared of who I was. When Milton proposed I had to refuse because deep down I knew that wasn't me, I'm gay and I know that. In the past I would have excepted without a second thought so I could hide who I really was under a blanket of lies. I'm done lying.

You have every right to hate me but I just need you to know I don't hate you. I don't have it in me to hate you. You own every once of any happiness I have left and I will love you forever no matter what." Rosa bit her lip. "I know I'm too late and you don't love me anymore but I needed you to know," Gina took a breath, finally. No matter how much she wiped the tears away they just came flooding back.

"Gin," Rosa paused. She thought for a minute before taking the most obvious route here. "I never stopped loving you. Baby I will always love you!" tears streaming down her face, she stepped out into the pouring rain and grabbed Gina. Pulling her close, colliding their bodies. They stared at each other for a second before Rosa took Gina's lips in her own. A deep, passionate kiss filled with raw emotion. The emotion of love. This was love. As Gina's hands found there way to the now straight, raven locks and ran through them, Rosa moved her hands to wrap around Gina's hips. Pulling her in closer. Intensifying the kiss.

The two were running out of oxygen but they didn't seem to care. Who needs breathing anyway?

"I will never stop loving you," Rosa panted when they finally pulled away, resting her forehead against Gina's.

"I've missed you so much, missed this, missed us," Gina cried into Rosa's chest.

"Come on let's get dry and into bed. It's late," Rosa said, lightly caressing Gina's cheek. The older woman nodded and allowed Rosa to pull her into the cottage and shut the door behind them.

//

Both women dry-ish, lay in bed holding each other. Normally when they we're together, Rosa always little spooned. It was just the way it had always been with them but not today. Rosa's arms wrapped firmly around Gina. Gina ran her thumb against Rosa's hand while the detective placed kisses in her hair.

"What are we going to do?" Gina whispered, pulling Rosa's hand to rest on her cheek.

"What'd you mean?" The curly haired woman asked. Gina turned onto her other side and came face to face with Rosa.

"About us. We have no time to work anything out, you leave tomorrow. Shit you leave tomorrow... I'm losing you all over again and I just got you back," Gina came to realisation and squeezed Rosa's hand. She was certain Rosa was going to have turned her away earlier and she wouldn't have to worry about this part. That was not the case. She started to cry again.

"Hey hey hey," Rosa sighed holding the back of Gina's head and stroking her hair in attempt to comfort her. "Nobody is losing anyone. Yes I won't be here, but I will be back. And when that happens, when I'm back, we can start from scratch. A new beginning, new story for us. Yeah?" Rosa asked looking down at Gina. She nodded shyly and nuzzled into Rosa's body heat.

"You are gonna do amazing. You are gonna take down them dealers and be the hero I know you are," Gina smiled against Rosa's chest.

"I hope so," Rosa sighed. "Also Gin I want you to live here again. While I'm gone. You and Iggy can live here with Arlo if you want?" Gina looked up and smiled. After leaving Milton, Gina had been staying at her Mums and hadn't been sure weather she was going to be able to find a place of her own again.

"I'd love that, Thank you Rosa," Gina kissed her. "What were you going to do with Arly?" Gina had always called Arlo Arly because she called him it once on accident.

"Charles was taking him for two weeks while he got all his vaccines and then he was going to a shelter. Nobody would take him so I had to put him back up for adoption," Gina gasped and shook her head.

"No. Not my Arly! You call them before you go later and tell them he's not coming. Me and Iggy will keep him, don't you worry," Gina reassured Rosa, intertwining their fingers.

"Thank you. He was kind of all I had left until tonight. The thought of coming home and him living with new people broke my heart!" Rosa sniffed.

"Don't cryyy! You have him, me and Iggy to come home to now. Just think. When this is all over you are going to be a mum Ro!"

"Holy Shit! I'm going to be a Mum. That's a little scary," they both laughed. Rosa took a long, deep breath, and there was a long silence.

"Don't go Rosie," Gian whined, breaking it.

"You know I have no choice. It's part of the Job," Rosa sighed.

"When will you be back?" Gina looked up into Rosa's deep brown eyes.

"Do you want the honest truth?" Rosa asked, afraid of how Gina may react to the truth. Gina nodded. "It could be as long as..." a pause. Gina looked at her patiently. "As long as 5 years." The silence returned. It was broken by Gina again, this time with sobs.

"I will wait for you," Gina tightened her grip around Rosa's waist. "For now hold me and don't let go."

"I'll hold you until the very last second," Rosa rested her chin on her head.

"Mmmm I love you Rosie, I'm sorry for everything."

"I love you too mi amore."
