"I'll sleep on the sofa this time," Gina said yawning.

"Are you sure, I'll wrap up warm this time," Rosa looked over at the other woman.

"Yes, you sleep in your bed. After all it is your bed," Gina giggled.

"Yes but-" Rosa started but was shushed by Gina's finger on her lips again. The next thing she new Gina had hold of her arm and was dragging her from the sofa to her bedroom.

Rosa lay on the bed and looked over at Gina stood in the doorway.

"Gonna come give me a goodnight hug or not?" Rosa held her arms out needily.

"Hmmm let me think.... no," Gina said firmly in a jokey way and turned to walk away. Rosa stuck her bottom lip out and knitted her eyebrows together in confusion.

"REGINA LINETTI COME HUG ME NOW," Rosa shouted throwing a pillow at her.

"Somebody is clingy tonight wow," Gina laughed and threw the pillow back. She climbed onto the bed and lay down next to the taller woman. Rosa pulled her in and held her tight. Little by little, Gina was starting to fall in love with her and she could feel it. Ever since the kiss at the studio, Gina felt so confused about everything. It was a problem she just didn't want to face; at least not yet. Everything with Jake was messing with her mind.

"Goodnight Rosie," Gina sat up, kissed Rosa's forehead head and headed out the room. Just before she left the room she turned around a said, "I really do like you calling me Regina you know, only you." And with that she was gone.

Rosa fell back and smiled up at the ceiling. Only one other person had the Regina pass and that was her mum. This was big. Rosa officially had the Regina pass. Wow...

It was around two thirty in the morning when Gina felt a small tap on her shoulder. She woke up with a jolt.

"What? Don't kill me! IM TOO PRETTY TO DIE," Gina wailed. When she saw it was only Rosa she relaxed.

"Jesus Ro you scared the hell out of me!"

"Sorry," Rosa murmured quietly.

"What's wrong?" Gina looked at her.

"Can you come and sleep in the bed with me?"

That's when Gina spotted the tear running down Rosa's cheek. Gina nodded and got up. She held Rosa's hand and led her back to the comfort of her bed. Rosa got back in and Gina followed her. The moment Gina was in, Rosa was in her arms, burying her head into Gina's chest. Again Gina stroked Rosa's hair until she fell asleep. She didn't ask what had happened but she knew something had. That's when it hit her.

Rosa cant have been cold that night she got into bed with Gina. She was in a jumper, blanket and the heating was on max. First that night, now this. What the hell was going on?

Again, Gina woke up to a bed all to herself.

"ROSA COME HERE!" She called sleepily, sitting up. Rosa appeared at the door with two cups of herbal tea in her hand. She got back into bed and gave Gina a mug.

"We need to talk," Gina said putting her hand on Rosa's leg.

"What's up?" Rosa asked concerned.

"I need to know what's going on. When I stay over you have to sleep literally clung onto me like a koala!"

Rosa looked down. This was a topic she hated to talk about. It caused her pain and it got harder with everyday.

"I don't know how," Rosa said, you could tell she was on the verge of tears.

"Could you try for me?" Gina asked, holding and squeezing Rosa's hand. Rosa nodded and took a deep breath.

"I can't sleep. I haven't had a full night sleep in a couple of years now," a tear ran down her face.

"Why?" Gina asked concerned.

"PTSD," Rosa chocked out. Gina started to bight her nails. What happened to cause that?

"Are you... what happened?" Gina asked.

"Diaz 3118, show me going," Rosa whispered and started to cry a lot more.

"The shooting," Gina whispered. She lightly gasped and covered her mouth quickly. Rosa nodded and put her cup on the night stand.

"When I came back, I had to be tough. That's my personality at work. I couldn't tell anyone what happened and how mentally scarred I am." Rosa started shaking. Gina held her arm to steady her.

"You can stop it's ok," Gina re assured her.

"No, you deserve to know." Rosa looked at Gina and then back down. "Shortly after I said that on the radio, I found a wounded civilian. He was bleeding out a lot so I picked him up and carried him to somewhere we couldn't be seen. We hid behind this over turned table and I tried to put pressure on his wound. He held my hand and cried. He was crying in pain. It was such an awful sight. When he finally started to calm down, someone came charging down the hall screaming for help. I told him to keep pressure on the cut while I went to help this lady. As I was nearing the door the screams got louder, there was a gun shot, then silence. I stopped in my tracks. I knew what had just happened and I had no idea what to do. I turned back around to go and check on the man and when I got there he was struggling for breath. I tried to save him, I tried my hardest, but he died. Right there in my arms. I was covered in blood and I was exhausted." Gina started to cry.

"I took a vow to protect this city and I wasn't going to break that. I got up and went out into the hall. There seems to be something bad around every corner because when I turned this corner..." Rosa paused.

"Re, he was there," Rosa sobbed.

"Who baby?" Gina asked, tucking a curl behind her ear.

"One of the shooters. Before I could hold my gun up he had his on my temple. I couldn't breathe. My last moments were going to be that day. I was terrified. He was shouting at me but I can't remember what. It was like all sound was muffled and I couldn't focus. I was crying and asking what he wanted, that I'd give him anything but he didn't move the gun. I was stood in a bloodstained hallway at gun point. The one thing I remember was he shouted 'ARE YOU GOING TO SHOOT ME, COP? YOU GONNA ARREST ME AND THROW ME IN JUVY? OH WAIT NO... YOU WILL BE DEAD' then he laughed and clocked the gun. When they say your life flashes before your eyes, they are not lying. I thought of everyone I loved, cared for, it all came so fast. That's when the gun shot went off. I screwed my eyes shut, but I was still stood there, alive. One thing was missing though. The gun. I opened my eyes and looked down. He was lay on the floor. A cop from the six-four was stood holding her gun. 'You okay?'

I nodded and we walked off together. I held it together but by the end of it all and everyone was in custody, I needed a hug. But nobody was there."

Gina wiped her eyes. This was completely heartbreaking to hear.

"Ever since then, when I close my eyes I hear the screams, I see the blood, I feel the gun at my head. I have witnessed so many horrible things in my life time but I can't shake that. When I'm alone I feel scared about going into rooms or turning corners, what if one of them is there. Come to get revenge on me, to finish what he started."

"You don't feel safe anymore?"

"No. But when I was lay in the dark and I knew you were in my bedroom that night I just felt like, like I did have someone. Someone was there to hug me this time. You were there. So I came in and when you hugged me it made me feel ok. I felt safe. The moment I was in your arms the nightmares went away."

"You should have told me sooner Rosie, we could have come with a solution," Gina told her.

"I've tried everything, nothing has helped me," Rosa sighed.

"But I did," Gina reminded her. "So I have a solution."

"What's that?"

"I'm moving in." This was the perfect next step in her and Jake's devious plan.

"What?"

"I'm going to come and live with you. I'm not sleeping on the sofa and neither are you. We are both sleeping right here. You are going to get your sleep back and start to feel safe again. We can do this," Gina turned to look at Rosa. Rosa turned to look at Gina.

"You can do this, you can get through it. I'm going to hold your hand and walk through hell with you," Gina reassured her.

"But the panic attacks, the meltdowns, the Spanish shouting, the hallucinations. You cant deal with that."

"Why would I let you go threw it alone. You have done it for too long. Not anymore. I will be here through everything from now on." Gina nodded.

"You promise?" Rosa whimpered.

"Yes, I swear." Even though she knew she was lying if felt good to see the way Rosa relaxed for a minute.

Rosa began to cry again. Gina pulled her in. She curled up and wept into Gina's chest.

Gina wasn't sure how Rosa had gone so long through that. Being on the edge of death and still living everyday like you didn't witness people lives being taken. She was so strong but it was time for Gina to step in.

"I will take care of you forever my Rosie," Gina whispered into her ear. "Until the very end."
