《It All Started With A Lie》{31}

We were about 40-45 minutes in when Mr. Thomas found us again. "We're starting to dance, you must join us, come on, come, come," he said excitedly, pushing both Ethan and me towards the dance floor. "It's a simple routine, your partners shall switch every 5 minutes, that's all. Spin her clockwise," he said before leaving, tending to his wife.

Ethan and I looked at each other. "Don't spin me clockwise," I said, taking a step closer to him.

"I'll try. It might be hard though, considering Mr. Thomas gets you next," he mumbled, flashing Mr. Thomas, a smile who stood to my right, Ethan's left. "I don't see them here anyway," he said, putting his arms around my waist as the music started playing. I put my arms around his neck.

He pulled one arm back and grabbed my hand in his. It's like a ballroom waltz.

"As far as we know they may not even be here. Daniel's parents aren't friends with this crowd, so he probably isn't. At least," he said, looking down at me.

"And Justin?" I asked.

"It's about time we had that fight," he said while looking around the room. I sighed, taking a step closer to him. 5 minutes can only last so long. "Good luck," he whispered, pecking my lips before spinning me clockwise, and dropping my hand.

Mr. Thomas grabbed my hand next and I followed through the same routine with him. "I must say, Olivia, you two make a very lovely couple," he complimented.

"Thank you," I smiled in response.

"Do you love him?" he asked.

"I do," I nodded.

"And does he love you?" he smiled.

"Yes, he does," I replied.

"Good. It's rare to find relationships like yours nowadays. I'm glad you've got him," he said before spinning me around.

I closed my eyes, taking in a deep breath when someone caught me and pulled me closer. I hesitantly opened my eyes and looked up.

Blue. Blue eyes. Blond. Blond hair.

"Hey, Liv," he smirked.

Daniel.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, turning to look at Ethan who scanned the crowd, his eyes settling on me, then he spotted Daniel. He raised his eyebrows at me as if he were asking if I needed his help.

"Don't create a scene, we're not trying to kill you, stop being dramatic," Daniel huffed.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"I don't want anything, this isn't my idea," he rolled his eyes, "I'm just doing it for Justin."

"Why? I thought you're Ethan's friend?" I asked.

"I was, for the longest time. But it's time to get serious. You see, I need a scholarship. I don't come to these parties cause we're not rich and bratty like the people here."

"We're not all rich and bratty like Justin and Annabelle," I mumbled.

"I'll give you that, fair enough. But the thing is, I need to be captain of the team. Justin can make that happen. That makes Justin my friend too," he shrugged, "I need that scholarship."

I stared at him in disbelief. "Are you serious? How is Justin going to make you captain when he's trying out for captain himself?" I asked.

"We're going to be co-captains," he answered.

"For captainship? You're gonna do this for captainship? Seriously?" I asked in disbelief.

"You don't even know what we're doing yet," he smirked.

"Well, it's no secret Justin's motive is completely different from yours."

"Right, about that," he nodded, "Justin just wants... you."

I stared at him in confusion. "Why would he want me after he broke up with me?"

He chuckled, "You know the saying. We always want what we can't have. He had you and he didn't want you, now that someone else has you, and you're happy, he wants you."

"That makes no sense," I rolled my eyes.

"I'll just let him explain it to you then," he smirked before spinning me around. Justin caught me next, looking down at me wickedly.

"Fuck you," I mumbled.

"You didn't, isn't that the problem we had?" he asked.

"What do you want?" I rolled my eyes at him.

"You," he shrugged.

"You had that chance and you blew it," I shrugged, "And anyway, what's wrong with Annabelle?" I asked.

He nodded, pulling me closer. "She doesn't make Ethan happy like you do," he whispered.

I pulled back, staring at him, utterly confused. "Who are you trying to hurt? Me or Ethan?" I questioned.

"Both. You, because you wouldn't have sex with me." I scoffed in response. "And him, because he humiliated me."

"What are you talking about?" I groaned.

"That day in the locker room? After you pulled him out, I thought he'd be the one getting humiliated. Because he was like your little puppy. Taking orders from you and everything-"

"Get to the point."

"But apparently our school is full of hopeless romantics rooting for love and I'm the bad guy. Annabelle? Even she wanted to leave me. It took a lot of convincing to make her stay. Begging even. I don't like to beg," he smirked.

"So? What does that have to do with us?" I clicked my tongue in frustration, he just talks shit, beats around the bush too much.

"He humiliated me, I have to get back at him somehow and at the moment, you seem to be his only weakness. Taking you means humiliating him."

"So what are you gonna do?" I questioned.

"You haven't had sex with him, have you?" he asked.

"I'm not answering that," I scoffed.

"Either way, you won't be with him if you do it with me," he shrugged.

"I'm not having sex with you," I stated.

"Yet," he smirked before spinning me around.

I caught onto the next guy, rolling my eyes at Justin. I looked up, my eyes widening in surprise. "Noah?" I asked in confusion.

"Hi," he smiled.

"What are you doing here?" I chuckled.

"Mr. Thomas, is my grandfather's best friend," he shrugged, "I haven't seen you in a minute, how have you been?" he asked.

"I've been good," I nodded, lying, "Great."

I was finally spun back to Ethan as the music came to an end. "You okay?" he asked.

"No," I sighed in exhaustion.

"We can leave, you wanna go?" he asked.

I think it's more important to find out what Justin is planning to do. Once we do that, we can leave. "Maybe in a little bit," I replied.

"You wanna grab a seat?" he asked.

"Yeah," I said, walking with him and sitting at the bar. "Ethan, I'm just gonna go to the bathroom, okay?" I informed him. He stared at me skeptically. "You wanna come?" I chuckled.

"I'll wait," he smiled. I sighed, standing in front of him, brushing his hair back. "I love you," he said.

"I love you too," I whispered. He kissed me quickly and I broke it off after a minute. "I'll be right back," I said before heading to the bathroom. When I got there, I took a seat on the couch that was in the bathroom.

A minute or two later, the door opened and Justin came in. "It's a good thing you're smart," he said, sitting beside me.

I stood up, standing in front of him. "I'm not having sex with you," I said again. He didn't say anything, just leaned back. "Do you hear me? I'm not having sex with you," I huffed.

He stood up, stepping closer to me. I instinctively took one back before turning to head for the door but he grabbed my wrist, pulling me back. "Relax, I'm not gonna force myself on you," he rolled his eyes.

I pulled my wrist out of his hand and stood there cautiously. I knew if I tried to make it to the door, he'd grab me. "I know you're not having sex with me," he said slowly.

"What the hell are you trying to do? Can I leave?" I huffed.

"Just a couple minutes more," he shrugged.

"A couple minutes more for what?" I asked, getting agitated. He didn't answer me, we just stood there in silence. "Justin," I huffed.

"Just a couple minutes more for Daniel to convince Ethan. To make him believe something's going on between us," he sighed.

"What is wrong with you? Why would you do that? What about Annabelle?" I asked.

"Annabelle wanted to leave me anyway, no difference," he shrugged.

"Justin-"

The door clicked before swinging open. Before I could even blink, Justin planted his lips on mine. I froze, I didn't know how to react. Just when I was about to push him off, he pulled away.

"Shit," Justin mumbled, "My bad."

"You..." I stared at him in shock.

He turned to the door. "Sorry, man. I should um, I should go," Justin said, sliding past him and out the door.

"Ethan, I didn't-"

"But you did."

"No, I-"

"You did, Olivia."

"No, Ethan. He-"

"You and him. Both of you did. You cheated me," he said, his face blank of emotion.

"No, I didn't!" I exclaimed, snapping out of my daze and rushing over to him.

"I'm not blind. I just saw you two kissing. You cheated on me. With him."
