xi. Star-crossed As We Are

walking for just a minute and hear me out?" Tewkesbury asked as he continued to follow the girl. She stopped and turned to him, glaring.

"What good will it do?" She questioned. "You are to be married to another woman."

"But I don't want her. I want you. I promised you — "

"Why are you bringing that up? You broke that promise, remember?" She interjected.

"Just listen to me."

"Fine. I will. But, make sure it makes sense." She crossed her arms.

"I can't explain neither can I tell you how that proposal happened. I didn't even know anything regarding that, until she came here and spoke." He started. "I'm here to make things right with you, Y/N. I'm here to tell you the truth."

"The truth?"

"That month I never replied was a month where I was locked up in my estate threatened by my own uncle. He made me do it, Y/N. I don't know why he did, but he was so persistent on it."

"What are you saying?"

"He made me leave you even if that is against my will. You're my world, Y/N. You saved me and changed me into a better man I never thought I could ever be. You showed me the better things in life ehile I was surrounded by firearms and ugly human nature. You taught me how to fight. You built me up."

"Then why did you tell me you weren't even serious?"

"I had to say it to make you leave me!"

"Why?"

"Because I was scared that I might not see you again." He answered. Y/N furrowed her eyebrows.

"What?"

"He threatened me to kill you if I didn't do it."

Her heart began to beat a lot faster than before. She was mind-blown from the truth that she has heard. Is it true?

"I'd do it all for you," He added.

That single statement made her remember the first time he said it. She couldn't help but let out a breath as the butterflies in her stomach painfully tickled her again.

"I never spoke to Lisette. I didn't want anything to do with her. Uncle forced her to keep me company in any day that I get out of my room. She would follow me everywhere. She's nothing to me. And as much as I hate to compare, she's nowhere near my heart even when put beside you, Y/N."

"Those months without you were grim and lonely. I wished you were there everytime. I have kept a journal where every little things that happened to us were written. I read them everyday and even scribbled down all the things I wanted to say to you. I have planned our future, written in ink and poured with promises. I couldn't let go. Even if I tried to. I couldn't." He said.

The young lord walked towards her slowly and gently grabbed her hand.

"I'm sorry." He said. "If only I knew how stupid it was, I would have just told you earlier. I should've let you known the truth."

Y/N's face was blank as she kept all her feelings bottled up. She looked up at him and saw his glossy eyes that gave her heart a tiny pinch. Her eyebrows curled as she closed her eyes and let it all out. The boy wrapped his arms around her while she used all the strength she has to hit him repetitively.

"I hate you!" She exclaimed. "I hate you so much! I hate you! You broke my heart and now all you want to do is talk about it now? Now?! When you're going to marry a woman that's not me?! You promised. We talked about it. We planned things, and this is the second time it fades!"

He held her tighter as if he didn't want her to let go while she burst into tears. "I know, I'm sorry. I am."

"How is your 'sorry' going to make me feel better, Tewkesbury?" She whispered to his chest. "We're gone, and you're out of my reach."

"Forgiveness, Y/N. It's all that I'm asking along with a chance for me to make it up to you." He replied. "I can't lose you. I can't. I treasure you far too much. You mean every sparkling stones in the universe to me whether it be the rock in His and Her Majesties heads or the big fiery stars in the deep endless sky." He added as he rested his head on her head.

"I can't."

"Tell me exactly how you feel, L/N. Tell me. All of it." He said.

The girl took a deep breath and started to talk, "You're a drug, Tewkesbury. You're not good for me yet you feel so right. You're an idiot yet I still feel like I need you. You made me feel helpless. You hurt me so much that I even tried to start fresh, but I couldn't. You're a rope under the sea, pulling me back as I try to reach for the surface. You hold me back so much that I can't even explain how I feel. It's all a never-ending journey of emotions. You make feel weak. I feel powerless. I hate you for that." She sobbed. "I hate that I still find you so much of value to me . . . more than anything in the world," she added.

And then suddenly, a change of heart, "This is such nonsense! Why are we doing this? It's so stupid!"

"But doesn't it make you feel better?" He asked. Y/N slowly nodded.

"I'm weak. I'm vulnerable and helpless. It's all because of you. I don't hate you, I could never bring myself to. I'm desperate for your forgiveness, Y/N. I'm desperate for you to give me a chance."

Silence. They were just there, drowning into one another's eyes, holding each other, silently screaming in the back of their heads.

The wind nipped on their skins as Y/N's hair flowed along with the motion of the breeze. The fabrics of her dress danced along with the bright green grass underneath them, partnering themselves to the leaves hanging on the trees.

The sun was up to play with the clouds, blowing them as floated in the blue dreamy sky. How pleasant was the feeling this weather provided, but nerve-wracking because of the atmosphere between the two.

Seconds turned into minutes when Y/N aswered, "Give me an answer as to why I should."

This made the young lord's heart leap. Her statement means he has a chance and he knew he can bring her back to him . . . for he knew what to answer.

"I love you, Y/N." He simply stated. Who knew those words could mean so much, for L/N once again felt alive upon hearing that.

'He loves me,' she kept telling herself. She couldn't help but fail to hold back her smile.

The way he said it sounded so sincere. His lips were like honey with the words that are sugar sweet. His loving gaze made her melt to the ground like butter. The honesty made the angels weep.

A sigh escaped the girl's lips as she let out a whisper, "I love you too, Tewkesbury."

This made the young lord laugh in disbelief as he unexpectedly crash his lips on to hers, kissing her tenderly, making her feel so loved and valued. He poured his heart out to her without any hesitation. She returned the kiss with herself screaming at the back of her head.

The boy caressed her cheeks softly with his thumb like he has longed to do for such a long time. A time in which they never spoke or even held each other like this.

He held her like she's such a delicate and fragile glass that's going to break in his touch. His fingers travelled to her ears, tucking the loose locks of her hair behind.

This was momentous! Y/N could almost dance like a happy free soul. He had never told her those three words before and the first time that he did, it was perfect and absolutely flawless.

As they pulled away, Tewkesbury nuzzled her. "I missed you, Y/N."

"Likewise, Tewkesbury."

It's nothing but true. He does love her and so does she. The pair seemed so happy.

Forgetting about the marriage of the Viscount and Marquess Tewkesbury.
