━︎━︎ IN WHICH THE TRIO IS BACK TOGETHER

Edith had started to pace around whilst worrying about the boy who had gone inside the school Enola was staying at due to the amount of time it was taking him, but when she caught sight of two figures running towards the place she was hiding behind — which was a large bush — she quickly ran from behind it and engulfed Enola into a tight hug.

Edith pulled away after a short second with a chuckle as she looked at what the brunette in front of her was wearing. "you look ghastly." Edith pointed out with a laugh, causing Enola to roll her eyes before letting out a chuckle and without a word to turn around and walk up to the automobile.

Pulling the motor wheel, — that was situated at the back of the engine — Enola jumped onto the automobile.

Edith and Tewkesbury shared a look to which they answered each other with smiles before squishing onto the automobile seat next to Enola.

"Can you actually drive this?" Asked Tewkesbury, glancing at Enola before back at the view in front of him.

"I know the basic rudiments." She answered to which none of them said anything as Enola ripped off the large white collar that rested on her black dress. She pulled the leather and with that the automobile started to sputter and drive as Edith put a smile on her face.

The trio was officially back together.

"Left, right!" Tewkesbury told Enola as she slightly struggled with making the automobile drive straight on.

"Watch out!" Edith exclaimed as she widened her eyes and Tewkesbury started to panic slightly.

"THE BUSH!" He yelled as Enola drove into the bush, trimming the side of it off. He quickly clasped his hand with Edith's, as if it was a natural instinct to do so. The girl jumped slightly at the sudden contact with the boy who didn't even realise their hands were intertwined together, but it didn't bother Edith so she didn't say anything.

Enola let out a triumphant "Whoo-hoo!" as they continued to drive back into hiding.

"Enola!" Tewkesbury scolded as Edith started to laugh before turning around, seeing a woman in the window of the school building staring out at them in disbelief and shock.

So Edith did the only reasonable thing in the situation.

She stuck her tongue out at the woman — who immediately widened her eyes and let out a screech that could be heard from miles away.

"I'm not finished yet!" Enola yelled out with happiness laced in her words.

. . .

As the three drove out into the forest road, Enola started to speak the words Edith never thought she would hear —

"Thank you. That was, uh. . . You did save me." She said as the automobile jumped due to a bump on the road.

"Well, well, the infamous Enola Holmes thanking someone." Edith said as she turned her head to face Enola "this is new!" She said, clapping her hands together.

Enola scoffed, straightening her posture as she cleared her throat. "The best bit was my idea, but you did save me ."

"And there's the Enola I know and love." Edith said with a smile on her face as Enola gave her a glance, not saying anything as Edith squeezed her cheek, causing the girl in the black dress to let out a smile before looking back at the road.

"Well, you're welcome. I think." Tewkesbury said, his hands resting on his knees as he looked around at the forest, finding the conversation slightly awkward.

"I didn't like it in there." Enola confessed, sighing as she carried on looking forwards.

"No. No, of course not." Tewkesbury agreed. "Now, let's get back to London and find a proper hiding place." He suggested, looking down at his hands and realising that one was clasped with Edith's. His eyes widened before sliding his hand out of hers, her head turning to look at him. "sorry." He apologised as Edith gave him a smile.

"Don't be." She said, her hand going back into his grasp, causing butterflies to erupt in his stomach and a smile to escape his lips as they both looked forwards, only to find the automobile had stopped and Enola was stuck in her trance, staring out at the sign in front of them.

"Why have we stopped?" He asked, glancing at Enola and then back at the two-way road in front of them.

Edith didn't say anything, her thoughts fighting to break into her mind as she planned out all possibilities to the reason Enola looked so determined and in thought.

"No. . ." Edith said quietly as she understood why the girl had stopped, slowly turning her head to look at Enola.

"No?" Tewkesbury asked. "What do you mean by 'no' ?" He added, more confused than before.

"I mean it's too dangerous". Edith explained, shaking her head as she looked at Tewkesbury.

"What is?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows in pure confusion.

"We need to go to Basilwether." Enola said as Edith sighed, her suspicions being correct.

"What?!" Tewkesbury asked in exclamation, not expecting that to be the answer.

"And injustice has occurred. It's time to right some wrongs." Enola explained, digging out something from behind her. "You want a culprit," she started to say, handing the two of them a newspaper "find a motive."

Tewkesbury unfolded the newspaper, their eyes skimming over the headline.

"I don't understand." Tewkesbury said, reading the headline over and over again, trying to understand.

"When were you due to be inducted into the Lords?" Enola asked, her voice in a rush as she tried to explain.

"Imminently." He answered, his voice copying Enola's rushed tone as Edith tried to wrap her head around the conclusion Enola was coming to.

But then it hit her. It had been right in front of her ever since she visited the Basilwether estate and figured out the boy's location.

"How would you have voted on the reform bill?" Enola asked, her sight focused on the road, determination shining around her like a natural glow.

"The same as my father. I'd be for it." Tewkesbury answered, making more sense into Edith's train of thoughts.

"Who knew that?" Enola asked, glancing at him before looking back at the road. Tewkesbury didn't answer but they both knew the answer "And who stands to gain the estate with your father dead and if you die?"

"My uncle." Tewkesbury concluded, but Eidth thought otherwise.

"No. . ." Edith stated, her voice trailing off as Enola gave her an offended look.

"No?!" She exclaimed, eyebrows furrowing and eyes widening.

"No. No, it's not!" Edith said, making eye contact with the girl before looking back at Tewkesbury "it's your grandmother."
