If someone took a quick glance at Louis, they'd probably see nothing wrong, just a boy walking to school. But, if they looked a little closer, you'd see that something was indeed very wrong.

The way his hands twitched with nerves, the dark circles under his eyes, his slouched posture, his paranoid eyes.

He hadn't be able to eat, he hadn't been able to sleep, hell he could barely think.

This had all been caused by one thing: the disappearance of Y/n Y/l/n.

Two weeks ago, she suddenly just vanished. No trace left behind.

Louis had been frantically searching for her, everywhere he could think, anywhere in the city.

But all his leads seemed to be dead ends.

As he approached the school building, he rolled his eyes at the thought of wasting his time rather than looking for the love of his life.

And another thing that bothered him so much, the only people that seemed to care, or seemed to notice that Y/n wasnt there, were her parents.

Louis passed the entrance and made his way to his locker, twisting in the code and popping open the door. Putting his bag away, he hears his ringtone coming from his phone.

Digging the device out of his pocket, he looks at the caller ID.

His paranoia seems to get the best of him as he taps the accept button, and with a shaky hand, he put his phone to his ear. "Hello?" He asked, waiting for a response from the other line.

The only thing he could hear was static, implying that the connection wasn't very strong.

He was tempted to just hang up, but there was something in the back of his mind whispering to him to stay on the line.

And thank god he did.

"Lou?" A quiet, raspy voice was heard from the other line.

Most wouldn't have heard it if they weren't listening.

But Louis was.

Louis' eyes widened and his heart raced at the sound of the voice, his hand gripping the phone tighter as if his life depended on it. He took a deep breath, trying to make sense of this and to convince himself that if was real, but also worried that his lack of sleep could be causing him to imagine things. "Y-Y/n? Is that you?" He asked, wincing at the hopeful tone.

He listened for a response, before he heard the person on the other side of the line's breath start to quicken, before one word left their mouth before they hung up.

One word that sent Louis into a higher state of panic than he had already been in;

"Help."

Louis frantically tried to call the number again, but his attempts were futile. He cursed under his breath before slamming the locker shut, making a beeline towards the exit.

No one seemed to see the determination etched onto his features, or tried to stop him as he made his way out of school.

He was going to find her. He was sure of it.

But the question was, how?

———

Getting home from the police station, Louis was quick to grab some supplies, he'll, he barely knew what he was grabbing in the adrenaline rush as well as the blind panic.

Jumping into his car, he quickly called the Y/l/n residence to inform them on the current situation, and during the entirety of the phone call, Louis hand was shaking.

Pulling up to the police station, he quick made his way to the office of the only person who could help him, Officer Davies, who had been looking into Y/n's disappearance as well.

Entering the room abruptly, Davies being startled by the door slamming open and the sight of the frazzled boy that had just walked into his room.

Louis' breathing came in irregular patterns, his heart pounding in his chest as he tried to articulate the importance of the situation. "Y/n. Phone. Number. Find." He stuttered, Davies expression still extremely confused.

"Y/n called. She-She used a number." Louis says quickly, trying to explain his outburst, "An unknown one, um, cant you like use it to find the location or something?"

( i have no fucking clue how any of this works so um ... sorry. )

Davies, a determined look coming over his face, picked up the device and plugged it into his computer. Calling in an assistant, he ushered Louis out of the room as the two got to work, leaving the poor boy to pace anxiously in the hallway as he waited for them to be finished.

After a few hours, Davies and his assistant emerge from the office to find a very worried Louis as well as the entire Y/l/n family.

"You," Davies says, pointing to Louis, "Come with me."

Y/d/n rises from his seat abruptly. "What's going on?"

Davies raised an skeptical eyebrow, "I don't know, maybe trying to find your daughter?" He says in a tired tone, grabbing his jacket and keys. "Come on kid, she obviously wants you to find her, or she would've called her parents." He says, practically dragging Louis out the door before the Y/l/n's have a chance to respond.

———

Arriving at a rather odd looking building dead in the center of the city, Louis exited the car and looked around suspiciously. "And you're positive the call came from here?"

Davies nodded, locking the door as the two of them wove their way through the wave of people, "Yeah. But underneath the building." He muttered mostly to himself, but Louis still shuddered at the words.

Making their way inconspicuously through the building, the two safely got into an unoccupied elevator, Davies pressing the basement button.

Reaching into the pocket of his jeans, he pulled out two handheld guns. "Have you ever shot a gun before kid?" He asks, checking the ammo before handing it to Louis.

Nodding briefly, he examined the weapon, holding it out in front of him and pretending to aim at his reflection in the glass. "Don't ask." He murmured as he dropped it back to his side, hiding it in the deep pocket of his jacket.

Davies didn't so much as bat an eye, the elevator doors opening to reveal a deserted looking hallways, the paint pealing and the whole place having a layer of dust.

Talk about creepy.

The two share a look before making their way down, their guns held out in front of them.

As Louis sees a dim light coming from under the door, he presses his ear to the wood, listening for any sounds.

Nothing.

After trying a few more doors, they finally hear what seems to be quiet sniffling.

Davies cocks his gun, Louis doing the same, before he kick down the door.

The figure inside jumped at the noise, their bloodied clothes making Louis' eyes widen as he took in the state of them.

Y/n sat in the far corner, chains keeping her wrists tied to the wall. Dropping the gun, Louis ran over to the girl, taking her in his arms quickly.

"Louis." Davies says quietly. "This is too easy. There's no way — "

Gunfire cuts him off as the pair of boys duck down behind the door, Davies only taking a shot to the arm, and he should be glad it's not something worse. Peeking around the protection of the room, the officer shoots at the people, but obviously outnumbered.

Davies looks between the two. Louis in the short amount of time had magically been able to free Y/n from the chains, the girl having a look of bravery and eagerness etched onto her features. "You two need to break that window, and get out of here." Davies instructed, pointing to the only source of light in the room. Surprising since it was the basement level. "I'll hold them off."

Louis shook his head quickly. "No. You've helped us so much, we're not going to leave you here."

Davies say Y/n open her mouth to protest as well, but he cut her off. "You need to go. Now!" He yelled, tossing them the keys and continuing to shoot at the guards. "You run boy, you run! Dont wait for me, get her back to her family."

Louis looked back to Y/n and they seemed to have a mutual agreement, both running for true only other exit, as Louis easily smashed it with the barrel of his gun.

climbing out onto the ground, the gunshots were barely audible around the loud city noises that seemed to be muffled in the basement.

Taking Y/n's hand in his, Louis linked their fingers and tugged her long at a face pace to the car, and it wasn't until the pair was a good four miles away did he stop the car. "Louis?" Y/n asked with confusion. "What are you doing?" She asked as he shut off the car.

"This." Hw answered, before leaning across the armrest and clinging to her smaller frame, burying his head in the crook of her neck and inhaling shakily.

Y/n was taken by surprise, but quickly returning the affectionate hug. It was when Louis let out a chocked sob that she grew extremely worried. "Louis? Love, what's wrong? Did they hurt you — "

He shook his head quickly, the movement against her neck cutting Y/n off. "I was so scared." He whispers, his breathing shaky as he tried to stop his own shaking.

"Oh Lou." Y/n answered, hugging him tighter and placing a kiss on his cheek. "I'm right here." She reminds him, and he pulls away from the hug to look into her eyes, and Y/n noticed for the first time how tired he looked.

Looking over every perfect feature on her face, Louis was finally able to see her and he saw that she really was ok.

As his eyes traced over her lips, he wasn't able to stop himself as he connected them quickly, her taste something he missed dearly.

But Y/n, God, if only he knew how relieved he felt when he saw her.

Taking her head in his hand, he pushed himself closer to the girl, clutching onto her as if she might disappear again. And there was no way he would let her be taken again.

Breaking apart with a soft noise, Louis' eyes fluttered open to look at Y/n again, her eyes still closed, but the ghost of a smile graced her lips, making Louis kiss them once more.

Turning the car on again, he set in the direction of Y/n's house, but the silence growing thick between the two, too many unanswered questions.

After a few more miles, Louis finally apoke up, "Who were — who took you?" Louis asked hesitantly.

"My uncle." She answered quietly, staring out the window as the small houses and shops passed us by. "He wanted me to "continue the family business" because my father wasn't able to, and my uncle has no heirs." She said nonchalantly, "I refused."

Louis wasn't really sure how to respond to that.

The rest of the car ride was mostly silent, both of them going over the events of the last few hours in their heads, and when they finally reached Y/n's house, let's just says there was a very happy reunion.
