———
Y/n places on her blazer as she adjusts her clothes for the millionth time that morning, her hands fidgeting with her hair and sleeves.
She checks the clock and looks back at her phone, her uber alerting her that it was around the corner. "I'm leaving for work!" She called into the quiet house.
She received a hum in response as she grabbed her purse, keys, and phone and climbing into the uber, her mom texting her good morning and good luck as she left the house.
She arrived in the busy city, getting dropped off at her work place.
Y/n was starting her internship at Netflix, as she'd always wanted to work in the industry, and now she's finally on her way.
Yes, she's had a little help along the way, but Y/n put a lot of hard work and effort, both mentally and emotionally, to make this happen.
Of course, there was an overwhelming amount of nerves, Y/n felt unprepared, even if she'd spent so long preparing for this moment.
The next step in her life, after pulling herself together after... him, she's made a life for herself.
She was happy for the first time in a long time.
She took a deep breath, and entered the building.
— After the Workday , 8:00 pm —
Y/n smiles brightly as she exited the building, ordering another uber back to her house.
As she waited inside the building, a group of people came out of the elevator.
As her eyes lazily snapped up at the sound of people chatting, her eyes scanned the crowd, finding a scarily familiar head of brown hair.
Her whole body froze at the sight of the person who had caused her so much pain, immediately grabbing a book from the table next to her to try and cover her face.
But Louis had already seen her.
He cautiously made his way over to her, being careful not to scare her away, but she was too much in shock to move.
After years of not seeing him, this felt too soon. She couldn't face the hazel eyes that played with her emotions and broke her.

She'd come to far for it all to be knocked down.
So instead of hiding, she decided to hold her head up high and tried to quickly make her way to the exit.
Key word: tried.
"Y/n. Been long time." Louis says, cringing slightly at his words.
"Not long enough." She mumbles, but unfortunately Louis hears and his expression falters.
"Hey, so, um, how've you been? You work here now?" He asks cooly, trying to keep his composure.
Even after all this time, she still manages to make his heart flutter.
As Y/n answers his question, he can't help but admire her. Her features have become more defined and she's even more striking than she was a few years ago.
Y/n looks at him wearily, not completely trusting him, but also relaxing a bit since he seemed to not have any wrong intentions.
He stood a little slouched, his hands stuffed in his pockets, his hair awry.
He looked different to say the least.
"Can I um, walk you to your car? Catch up a bit?" He asks gently.
Louis really wanted to know if she was doing alright, he wanted to know that she was ok, because if Louis was being completely honest with himself, he still beats himself up almost everyday about how much of a jerk he was.
And don't forget about the part of him that still loves Y/n.
She looks around nervously before coming back to Louis. "Um, I just ordered an uber." Y/n answers him.
He nods quickly. "I can wait outside with you, if you'd like."
Y/n debates silently with herself. After years of not seeing him, he suddenly stumbles back into her life?
And a huge part of her is still fragile from the trauma and trust issues he'd caused.
She sighed before giving in. "Fine."
Y/n headed for the front of the building, Louis fallowing a little ways behind her, trying to give her as much space as she needed.
He wanted to be a part of Y/n's life again, even if it was going to take years, he wanted to build that trust up again and possibly, maybe, be able to love her like he should've done so long ago.
Y/n taps against the pavement, checking her phone every few seconds, clinging to the hope that her uber driver would hurry the fuck up and save her from the awkward tension.

She glanced at her phone again to she a message that read
Y/n groans internally at her amazing luck, and turned back to Louis. "My ubers not coming, I guess I'm just going to walk home." She informs him.
She would rather walk than have to wait with Louis for another 30 minutes.
"Why don't I walk with you, you know, it's not safe at this time of night." He offers, hope in his eyes.
Y/n bites her lip and sighs. He did have a point. It probably wasn't safe to walk alone. But she really didn't want to walk with Louis of all people.
Then she looked back at him and saw all the emotions running through his eyes.
None of which posed as a threat to Y/n herself.
She didn't want to give in easily because that's exactly how she got with him in the first place, but she didn't really see another option. "Fine." She grumbled, starting to walk the distance to her house.
Good thing she decided to wear flats.
Y/n's house was only about a mile away, so technically she could've walked that morning, but she decided against it.
The walk was mostly silent, a few feeble attempts at conversation, both wincing at the uncomfortableness.
Then Louis finally stepped up and got to the topic they were trying to avoid. "Look, I'm really sorry about how I acted when I was younger. I was such an arse and you didn't deserve that." He tries to apologize.
Y/n keeps walking forward at a quick pace, clenching her fists around her purse, yet staying silent.
After a few moments Louis speaks again. "Y/n, can you please say something? Anything?"
That's when she snaps.
"No Louis. I'm not going to talk about it because you don't deserve an explanation! Do you know how much you hurt me, toying with me like that? It took me two years, two fucking years, to recover because I couldn't even trust my closest friends! You hurt me Partridge!"
Louis winced at the use of his last name. "I know, Trust me I do, and I'm sorry— "
Y/n chuckles dryly. "You're sorry? Oh well I guess everything's all better because he's sorry. Louis, I loved you, I wanted you to love me, but you never did. And I'm finally happy and you come back waltzing into my life?" She screams, her emotions flooding out from years of hidden anger suddenly unraveling.
Louis stood there and took it because he knew that he deserved it.
"You broke me! You played with my feelings, you used me, and then you threw me away when you were done, so don't pretend like you suddenly care!" Y/n cries, a few tears falling.
Suddenly, a new voice calls out, "Love?"
Y/n and Louis whip their heads in the direction of the voice, coming from Y/n's doorstep.
Y/n didn't even realize they'd made it home, or she wouldn't have yelled like that.
Louis looks between the two, his eyes widening. "No way. No fucking way." He muttered.
Millie Bobby Brown stood on Y/n's porch.
Y/n turns back to Louis an annoyed expression on her features. "Yeah. Millie was there for me when you broke me. She picked up and pieces and helped me build myself back up, and she loves me for me, not just some pet you can make out with." Y/n spits. "Goodbye Louis."
She turns on her heel and walks towards Millie who immediately wraps her arm around Y/n, guiding her inside.
The moment the lock turns, Y/n breaks down, her wall coming down in a way they only does around Millie.
Millie's heart broke at the sight, guiding Y/n to the couch as she lies her down, bringing Y/n to her side and holding her tightly as she burying her head into the crook of Millie's neck.
Millie rubs soft circles on her lower back and presses soft kisses to her forehead as she calms her down. Y/n cuddles closer to Millie, making the actress blush slightly. "I love you." Y/n mumbles.
"And I love you. I truly love you. " She whispers back.
As she sniffles again, Millie squeezes Y/n's waist, hoping she never has to face Louis again.

Broken Skulls, a Skeleton's Tale
Summoned as a Skeleton with no name, and unable to remember who he was. On the second floor of a dungeon in the heart of a city, with adventurers all seeking fortune and glory in its depths. No weapons. No Armor. No name. Only the grim determination to stay alive... At all costs. ---------------------------- Author's Note: This is the first story I've attempted writing in roughly seven years. While my writing style may be a bit rusty, I hope to be able to provide nothing more than a good book to sit down and read for awhile. P.S. I might not be able to be consistent with updates to the story, but I'll do my best! I hope you enjoy! ---------------------------- Cover art done by ShayeSoForgetful.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
