pretty sure tewkesbury was probably homeschooled but for this he attends whatever local school or whatever.
———
A young Tewkesbury walks through the forest on his way home from a school, his mind wandering to an unknown land as he walks absentmindedly.
He is suddenly snapped out of his thoughts as he hears humming.
How peculiar.
He follows the noise, his curiosity getting the best of him. He finds himself at the base of a large tree, the sound coming from one of the branches.
Tewkesbury's eyes travel up the branches and spots a figure. A girl with y/h/c hair and a light blue dress lays upon the branch, humming to herself as she watches the sky.
"What are you doing up there?" Tewkesbury asks, startling the girl and making her stop humming.
She leisurely sits up and looks down. "What are you doing down there?" She asks with a challenging face.
"I asked you first." He says, crossing his arms.
"I asked you second." She answers, a smirk growing on her face. He rolls his eyes, making her giggle. At the sound, a strange feeling blooms in his stomach, making the young Viscount shake his head to be rid himself of the feeling. "If you must know, I'm observing."
"Observing what, exactly?"
She looks around, her higher point of view giving her a larger spectacle of the world below. "The wondrous nature that surrounds ourselves, the beauty of the earth that begs me to look." she says whimsically.
The wind blows her slightly messy hair, making Tewkesbury stare at her for a second too long as she looks back down at him, a blush forming on his cheeks as he just met the girl. "I never caught your name." He says.
"I never threw it." She answers. "But if you must you, it's Y/n." She says. "And what's yours?"

"I'm Viscount Tewkesbury, Marquess of Basilwether." He answers.
Y/n quickly climbs down the tree, landing in front of Tewkesbury. "Well Viscount Tewkesbury, Marquess of Basilwether, it was a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
— Time Skip: Two Years, Age 16 —
Y/n scribbles down notes as she listens attentively to the lesson.
Y/n hated sitting at the front. The teacher always looked to her to call on, and she could never let her mind wander and think all the marvelous, creative thoughts, instead she has to pay attention.
For Tewkesbury however, this was a different story.
Because Y/n was always so focused on her schoolwork, he was able to admire her for as long as he wished without getting caught by Y/n herself. Sometimes, he would have to make up for entire lessons because he had been staring at Y/n for so long.
It's safe to say that in their two years of friendship, Tewkesbury has fallen deeply and hopelessly in love with his best friend.
He loved everything about her, from her smile to the way she always loved all the little things, never taken anything for granted.
He smiled as Y/n tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, only for it to fall again.
Yep, he was definitely in love alright.
———
After school, Y/n and Tewkesbury walked home together like they always do.
As they talk about whatever comes to mind, Y/n suddenly stops in her tracks. "What? What is it?" Tewkesbury asks, confused.
"Tewkesbury, the other day I found the most brilliant flower field you've ever seen. I must show it to you!" She says, grabbing his hand and leading him to their destination.
Even at the smallest gesture, the tiniest touch, Y/n made the butterflies go wild in Tewkesbury as he watches her in awe, a giddy expression upon her features.
The arrive at the field, and Tewkesbury's breath is taken away (a feeling very familiar to him, as Y/n has this effect on him more often than you'd think.)
"Isn't it the most glorious place you've ever seen?" Y/n whispers, a sacred feeling lying over the area, like she doesn't want to disturb it.

She starts to walk in the flowers, lying down in a colorful patch of blossoms. The Viscount sits next to her, lying down as well. "Wow." He says.
" look at this magnificent sky. Could we not have been more blessed by this scene before us?" Y/n says, sitting up again.
She starts to delicately pluck a few flowers, weaving them together. "What are you doing?" Tewkesbury asks.
"I'm making you a flower crown." She answers.
"Then I shall make you one too."
And so, the two made flower crowns for each other, Tewkesbury taking glances at Y/n, loving how concentrated she looked.
After a while, both of them finish. "Come here, you." Y/n says, laying the flowers upon his head.
He does the same to her and she smiles at him. "Why thank you, Viscount Tewkesbury, Marquess of Basilwether." She teases.
"It was my pleasure, Lady Y/n," He says with a little bow, making them both laugh.
He can't help but admire her, the way the flowers sit in her hair, the way the sun hits her face just right, and the enchanting smile that graces her lips.
This beauty before him makes his smile grow, never wanting this moment to end.
Y/n stands abruptly and extends her hand for Tewkesbury to take. "Let's go find a spot in the shade, the sun is getting a little unbearable." She says.
He smiles at her and takes her hand as she leads them to the edge of the forest, sitting down in the protecting of a great tree, looking out onto the flower field.
Tewkesbury sits down next to her and she lays her head in his lap, making Tewkesbury's cheeks redden and his brain go fuzzy from all the butterflies. Y/n looks up at him and notices his reddened face and sits up. "I'm sorry. Are you ok?" She asks with concern lacing her voice.
Tewkesbury shakes his head, trying to pull himself together. "Y-Yeah. Yeah." He says, trying to act cool.
Y/n nods slowly and leans against the tree.
"Y/n." Tewkesbury says seriously. She turns her face to look at him, his hazel eyes already glued to her. "I-I need to tell you something. Because I can't- I can't keep it a secret much longer." He says, extremely nervous.
What are you doing? he thinks to himself Stop, stop stop stop-
"You can tell me anything." Y/n says, turning and taking his hand in hers, trying to calm him, but it only makes him more nervous.
"I-I think- I think that I'm in- in love with you." He stutters immensely.
Way to go idiot.
Y/n blinks in shock. She definitely wants expecting that to come out of his mouth.
"It's- It's fine if you don't feel the same. I-I just thought you ought to know-"
He is cut off by Y/n gently pressing her lips to his, cupping his face gently his her hand.
Tewkesbury's eyes widen but quickly flutter close, even more butterflies coming, which he didn't know was even possible. He feels the emotions bursting in him; and he can only hope she feels the same.
His arms wrap around her waist, holding her softly.
Y/n goes to pull away, but Tewkesbury can't contain himself. Once he got a taste of her, he became addicted, pulling her back and closer to him, her hands finding his hair as the kiss deepens, the rest of the world falling away.
After a minute, he finally pulls away, but keeps her close to him, their foreheads touching, their breaths mixing together.
"You like me too?" Tewkesbury says.
"No, I just kissed you because I felt like it. Of course I like you!" Y/n laughs at him, kissing him again. "And I like this." She whispers.
He chuckles softly and kisses her gently, cupping her cheek. "Me too."

Not as it seems
Stranded inside the world he'd been writing about for years, Arwen is left at the mercy of the characters and setting he'd so lovingly created. Now trapped and powerless save for his knowledge of the secrets the world holds, he has to find his way back home. Hopefully to make it there in one piece. But things aren't going to be easy, as the further he plunges into his world, the more he will realize things aren't quite what he thought them to be. This story is a case study on a realistic approach to isekai as well as what it means to "know" someone / something, and to "KNOW" them. There will be hard themes and uncomfortable truths, and just like with real life, it will show things as they are unfiltered.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
