WHERE ARE MY ONCERS AT?
i'm rewatching once upon a time and it got me in the mood.
for those of you who haven't watched it, here's what you need to know:
- The Ogre wars have been going on awhile and they have been sending the kids off to war
- i think the age of conscription is 15 in the show, but for the sake of this we're gonna make it 17
- The Dark One (Rumplestiltskin) is the most powerful dark sorcerer in all the land (besides peter pan...but we'll get to that later)
- Louis is going to be his son, brother to Baelfire (Rumple's son in the show)
- Rumple is extremely protective of his sons
- Louis and you are seeing each other in private, for fear of his father's rage.
on with the imagine!
———
Y/n walks the small village, carrying water pails in both hands.
She passes a boy, with brown hair and hazel eyes, and they smile softly at each other.
She continues to walk to the well in the forest, the boy following as discretely as possible. She stops at the well which is securely covered by trees. "You can come out now Lou." She calls, her back to the boy.
Louis peeks his head out from behind a tree, walking up to Y/n and wrapping his arms around her from behind. She sighs and puts the water down, turning to face Louis.
He leans down and their lips meet, Y/n's hands resting on his chest as his arm still around her waist. Their lips are still connected and he pushes her against the well, Y/n pulling away slowly. "Lou... I need to tell you something." She whispers.
"Oh god. Did I do something wrong?" He trembles.

She pulls his hands and he looks her in the eye. "No, my love. Never. It's just... my 17th birthday is in four days time." She says sadly.
Louis falters back a step. "But that means-"
"They're coming for me Louis." She cries.
He steps back to her, hugging her shaking frame to him. "I won't let them. My father, he saved me from conscription, maybe he can do the same for you."
"The Dark One will never help me." She sniffles sadly. "Besides, then we would have to tell him. And Bae." (Baelfire's nickname)
"But-But I love you! They can't take you away!" He cries.
"I love you too Lou, but there's nothing that can be done." She says, tracing his jawline. "Just...let's spend these last days together, yeah?"
He nods and kisses her again, tears rolling down their cheeks.
— Four Days Later —
The king's men ride in on their high horses, the town gathering as Y/n shakes.
"We've come for Y/n Y/l/n, to conscript her to fight for our kingdom in the Ogre wars!" One of the men declares.
A burly man shoves Y/n forward and she stands tall. She will not let her village see her weak. "Y/n wait!" A voice from the crowd calls.
Louis runs forward and steps in front of her. "You can't take her! I won't let you!" He cries.
"Lou, step away from the girl." Rumplestiltskin says, parting the crowd.
"No! Papa, I love her!" He says, making the onlookers gasp.
"You don't know what you're saying Lou." He says, walking up to the teens.
"Papa, please. save her." He begs. "Like you did Bae and me."
"That's different." He says, snapping his fingers and Lou is gone in a cloud of blue smoke, back to the house. "So long, dearie." He tells her as he blinks away.

"No!" Lou shouts as he bangs on the doors of the house, unable to escape. "Y/n!" He says, bashing his shoulder into the wall. He does this repeatedly, until he hears the fanfare, declaring another warrior taken to battle.
Another child taken from their home.
He crumbles on the door, his father coming to his side.
"It's for your own good Lou." He says with an evil smirk.
Lou swats his arms away and stomps off to his room, slamming the door.
— 1 Week Later —
Louis sits on his bed, looking out at the starry sky, picturing Y/n's face in the moon.
Oh how he missed her.
He opens the window and continues to watch until he hears something.
Music.
The music of a flute.
And although Louis didn't know this, it was the music of the piper.

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her. Meanwhile, have some Slice of Life.) Updates every Friday Cover made using Waifulabs Written using 4thewords (referral code: UZJRY55368)

Saga of the Jewels VOLUME ONE COMPLETE
Prefer to listen to rather than read Saga of the Jewels? I'm also releasing it as a free audibook serial podcast on iTunes here! Epic YA JRPG-influenced GameLit progression ensemble-cast steampunk romance fantasy! When Ryn’s hometown is destroyed, will he be able to gather together the twelve Primeval Jewels in order to defeat the evil Emperor and save the world of Mid? A fan novelization of an amazing Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist, that currently releases at least one chapter a month. Epic in that this will be very long. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint!” (-Kandaj) YA in that this should be enjoyable to~13-year-olds and upwards. Some gore, some swearing, some sex, but nothing more than PG-13. JRPG-influenced / GameLit in that it uses lots of JRPG tropes, particularly from Final Fantasy. I’ve read a lot of fan Final Fantasy novelisations and you can basically think of this as a fan novelisation of its own Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist as a game... Progression in that the characters level up over time (though not with visible litrpg stat boxes). They grow in ability through training and experience, gain new skills, individually and as a party (think Chrono Trigger) and spend time discussing and stratgeising about how to defeat their opponents. Main protagonist from book three would definitely be able to defeat himself from book one! Ensemble-cast because we've got quite the roster of misfits here. The first volume is all from the main protagonist's POV, but it starts dancing between his and different POVs thereafter. Steampunk in that we’ve also got airships, steam trains, pistols and ambiguous ‘amber bars’ that function a bit like artificial lights… Romance in that there is lots of shipping here, a few love triangles, and you may be kept guessing as to who will actually end up together... Fantasy in that we’re in a vaguely pre-modern setting. We’ve got swords, magic, dragons, dungeons, monsters, all that good stuff. * "This story captures that Final Fantasy quality perfectly. Kiddy but also grim. The characters are great... Severely underrated and needs more favorites/follows. I look forward to seeing how this story will unfold." -Gilgamesh9999 "Starting at the end and jumping backwards is not a writing style seen every day. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but you've executed a fairly crazy idea very skillfully so far. Overall, a strong start to what could be a very strong story." -RandomFF.netUser "You definitely have my interest piqued. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes... It definitely has an 'old school Final Fantasy' type feel to it, which I appreciate...Good job! I am glad you are going into more details about the story you laid out in the prologue...of course the big burning question is 'You know they lose in the the first chapter, so how will they end up winning?' That of course, is the story you're writing...so we'll see how it goes! #Following." -KyleQuicksilver (quotes are from reviews on other sites) * If you enjoy it, don’t forget to boost Saga of the Jewels on topwebfiction.com! Dismissing Darkness
Out amidst the stars, far past the point Earth appears as a pale blue dot, a human spacecraft plunges forth towards new and exciting worlds. The passengers know they are never going home, not after the lengthy journey ahead of, and to a lesser extent behind them. They while away their time frozen in body and plugged into a simulation in mind waiting for a new planet to explore and colonize. Still, space is a place large enough for a surprise or two as our protagonist, the underqualified Mike Jackson (no relation) is soon to find out. ~~~ I will be posting chapters here and on my wordpress blog-thing, hopefully within minutes of each other multiple times a week. Currently on hiatus. If I get back to writing this one, it will be after I tweak it to make it feel less like an empty world with too many extras in the background.
