(Y/n)'s POV
Her nails clawed at my arm as I narrowly avoided her raging hands. Heart pounding like an explosive device about to go off, I flung the door open, rushing up the treacherously long stairs.
She seemed to seep into my shadow, her figure effortlessly striding up to my legs. Struggling, panting, fearing. Her crazed eyes and heavy breathing dispelled all thoughts of even a sliver of sanity left in her mind.
My mum's long fingers caught my hair, her knee glancing my stomach. I doubled over in pain, allowing her but an unintentional chance to get a taste of my blood.
Mercilessly sinking her fangs into my neck, I winced and fought against her hold on my body...yet her enhanced strength, even for a vampire, remained an invaluable asset to her victory.
Hot, flaming tears wearily strode down my cheeks. She released me once her insatiable hunger had been temporarily satisfied. Backing up against the wall of my room, I whimpered as she growled, her protruding fangs bared angrily.
Scratches, bruises and cuts painted my skin in a mundane sea of mild injuries. No sooner than I had buried my face in my knees did a gentle, warm hand greet my head.
I looked up. Mage smiled down at my trembling figure before kneeling down to match my height. Squeezing my eyes shut, I refused to believe that it was him. He was simply an illusion...
"(Y/n), it's really me. I'm not a fake," he exclaimed.
"How am I supposed to believe you?..."
"You didn't come to school for a week. Who knew I'd find you cooped up in your room?"
"...why aren't you mentioning my injuries or the bloodstains on the walls?"
"I didn't think you'd want me to ask. It took me a while to find your house...if it wasn't for the scent of...your blood then it would've taken me a lot longer."

"...I'm sorry."
"What the hell are you apologising for?"
"I can't go to school."
"What happened?"
A terrifyingly loud bang reverberated across the room. Boom. And again. Boom. My mum's scent drenched the air as she continuously thumped against the wooden door.
"(Y/n), I know you're in there with a devil! How dare you let him into our house?!"
"Let's go," Mage said, leaving me with no choice but to comply as he lifted me off the ground.
"But-"
"Don't you dare complain."
Hooking an arm under my legs and the other supporting my upper body, he jumped out the window in which he used to climb in. Landing gracefully on the ground, I heard the insanity engraved in my mum's voice as she screamed and screamed.
Soft yet wild winds pushed our bodies as Mage teleported us to the third library. The others glanced at my figure, seemingly with no interest for their friend who had been 'away' yet only bothered to look upon noticing the blood staining my clothes.
"This girl here never mentioned that she has an abusive, insane mum who seems like she belongs in a mental asylum," exclaimed Mage.
"But she's never shown any sign of pain nor injury," Rem speculated.
"I can hide it pretty well, can't I?" I replied, forcing a smile. "Her insanity's gotten worse. I couldn't come to school because of that..."
"You were always smiling..." commented Shiki.
"Of course. I wouldn't have been able to keep it hidden otherwise."
"Why? Why keep it hidden? Why didn't you tell me?" Mage asked, irritation concealed within his tone.
"All of you have been content with questioning the little butterfly, and yet don't even begin to treat her wounds as she answers," Urie pointed out.

"My injuries are going to heal-"
"Let me see."
Mage took a hold of my hands, his gaze undoubtedly softening upon careful inspection of the scratches coating my arms in a sea of blood. Catching the bandage Shiki threw, Mage wrapped an arm around my body.
The same cascading winds surrounded us as he teleported us to the rooftop. Looking away from his eyes, I stared at the cloudless sky, its fading blue colour dispelling all thoughts of relief.
"(Y/n)?"
"...I've been thinking while I was at home."
"Thinking about what?"
"Life, but my thoughts always drifted back to you."
"What...did you think about me?"
"I wondered why you always stuck with me. You have the others in the Student Council and there's that girl Ritsuka that everyone seems to like. I'm a vampire no less."
"Is it bad to stay with a close friend?"
"I guess not. I tried deciphering my feelings but only came to one conclusion."
"What conclusion?"
"My mum wasn't always like this. My dad fell victim to the sweet lairs of gamblers, and I think my mum was influenced by his desire. I..."
"Come live with me."
"Eh? I can't just..."
"If you need my blood to heal yourself, then don't hesitate to ask. I don't want you dying on me any time soon. Your mum's not your mum anymore. Come with me. Come to me instead."
"Mage-"
Capturing my lips in a rough kiss, he laced an arm behind my waist and the other against my neck as he deepened the kiss. The gentle breeze did nothing to cool the heat emanating from my cheeks as my heart pounded with excitement.
"I love you. I can't leave your side even if I wanted to. You make me feel protective. I can't leave you alone again now that I know about your mum so..."
"*blush* Mage, I..."
"Tell me."
"I love you too."
Tears brimmed my eyes as I clutched his shirt, an overwhelming sense of happiness warming me from within. The tall male lifted my chin up, placed his lips upon mine.
"Heal your wounds," he whispered against my ear.
"I don't drink blood. It's unnecessary-"
"Until the moment you regret it. Your mum takes blood from you-"
"I'm not going to become like that..."
"You won't. You're doing it for a different reason. You're not insane. You're not going to become her. You're you."
Drawing reassurance from his simple words, I leaned closer to his neck, my vampiric senses strengthening upon taking in the irresistible scent of his blood.
Baring my fangs, eyes closed, blood pulsing. Yet...I couldn't bring myself to do it. Gently pushing the male away, an enigmatic smile graced my face as he sighed in resignation.
Boom. Boom. Boom. My mum was here. Mage cracked his knuckles, flashing a concerned glance my way. The door cracked, flying off its creaking hinges.
"(Y/n), how dare you escape?!" she yelled angrily.
"You don't mind if I..." Mage started.
"...go for it. She can't return to who she was."
"I'm sorry."
His hand pushed my head against his chest, his embrace warm and reassuring, concealing me from the ugly truth about to be unveiled.

Everyone is a Superhero! Apart from me
Welcome to Loktharma, where everybody is a superhero from birth. That makes Eugene De Lavet the most special of them all. At eighteen years old, he still has no clue what his superpower is. Loktharma has never been a fair world. There are Worldbreakers who were born to brandish the power of the universe, warp time-space, destroy lands and continents. There are Craftmasters who control the elements and terrorize countries with their might and wits. There are Commoners who are only gifted with power for the finer arts, architecture, military arts, or small-scale elemental manipulation. Even in an unjust world like Loktharma, there is always one constant: everyone is assigned a Flair since birth; the power to do something extraordinary. And then there's Eugene. He's been running around in a secluded forest since birth, training and sparring his ass off. While he can wield a blade better than most at his age, he certainly can't throw a giant boulder using the power of his mind, or turn his skin into diamonds. He has no Flair, no purpose for leveling up his stats, and no idea why General Rizeni Baggardo keeps him confined inside a forest for eighteen years. At least until Lord Pyro—the Craftmaster of Tailiah—unleashes his fury on the forest, searching for a treasure Eugene doesn't even know exists. On a frantic escape for his life, Eugene starts to realize he was a part of something he's been completely oblivious to until now. Along with his companions, Melodi and Azra, he travels the land and unveils the secrets of the world. [The story will be told primarily through the lenses of three main characters, with occasional side character POV chapters. It also draws inspiration from Japanese shounen. So only proceed if you're cool with these aspects.]
