(Y/n)'s POV
Aiming a kick at the vampire in front of me, I jumped up to avoid his counterattack and caught his neck with my legs. Gripping onto his hair, I happily asked him to 'move along'.
"You idiot...how the hell am I even related to you?" Ferid asked as he walked around the city in a foul mood.
Seeing as how I was sitting on his shoulders, I could maintain a better view than him...provided that he didn't move around recklessly. Tapping a light beat onto his head, I hummed a soft tune to go along.
"Would you stop that?!"
"But niisan, I'm bored."
I could sense danger. Quickly bending my back backwards, I felt my brother tighten his grip on my legs as the bullet whizzed past and penetrated the ground just bare millimetres away from my face.
Mika suddenly appeared before us as I hopped off Ferid's shoulders. The blonde vampire took my hand in his and began running away from the incoming bullets. Turning my head, I managed to catch a glimpse of Ferid mercilessly killing those who had tried to take our lives.
We rounded a corner before Mika picked me up and headed to the rooftop of a nearby building. He still hadn't let me go, and I didn't wish for him to. It was the peace that came with his calming presence that allowed me relief during these times of war.
Resting my head against his chest, I listened to the soft sound of the wind as I closed my eyes. Taking in nothing but Mika's scent, I managed to exclude the sounds of gunshots and screams.
"...do you despise my brother?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Because he killed your friends...I can't say I knew them but I can't forgive him for doing that."

"(Y/n)..."
"Yet I can't hate him either. He's my brother."
"You're not him, so don't blame yourself."
"Mika, jump!"
I clung onto his body as he avoided the incoming attack. Taking my twin daggers out from my belt, I faced the human male only to freeze in surprise as he stabbed his sword into my stomach.
"(Y/n)!"
"M-Mika, t-that..."
"Yuu? Is...that you?" Mika asked in disbelief as the black-haired male stared at me in shock.
Pulling the sword out of my stomach, he dropped it and immediately applied pressure to the wound in order to stop the blood loss. Mika tossed a vial of blood over, which I drank without a second thought.
Lying back onto the concrete, I closed my eyes as the wound slowly began healing on its own. If Yuu had activated the curse then I would be long gone, blown away by the wind.
"(Y-(Y/n), is that you? Y-you're not...dead, are you?" Yuu asked as he hesitantly shook my arm.
"Ugh...our first reunion after what? A few years and you greet me with a stab to the stomach. I get that you hate my brother but please don't use me to get to him..."
"No, that's not- I'm just- I'm...sorry for hurting you."
Feeling the smooth glass of another vial pressed gently against my lips, I opened my mouth to allow the blood through. Opening my eyes, I slowly sat up, the two immediately moving forward to support me.
"H-how...Mika...(Y/n)..." Yuu started, at a loss for words.
"Krul Tepes, the vampire queen, saved him but it was at the cost of his mortality."
"So...you're a vampire now."
"Don't hate him, he already hates himself enough. He hasn't even drunk an ounce of human blood, unlike me."

"I...can't believe this..."
"I'm sorry, Yuu. I've become a monster," Mika exclaimed, melancholic loathing laced in between his words.
"I-I should go. You two probably need some time to talk."
I stood up, feeling my stomach only to find that a subtle pain still remained. The two wasted no time at all, their hands as fast as bullets as they each grabbed onto either one of mine.
No one's POV
The (h/c)-haired vampire stared at the two, a glint of curiosity in her gentle gaze. Both Yuu and Mika stood up, their grips neither loosening nor tightening. It was, as the girl described, full of warmth and safety.
"Don't leave," Yuu ordered.
"Even though you weren't with us for as long, you're still..." Mika started, trailing off, unable to continue.
"That's right. You were a vampire but you weren't like the others. You never took blood from the weak, and you certainly didn't harm innocent people," Yuu finished.
"*smiles* Heh, I guess that's just who I am," (Y/n) replied, her gentle yet cheery tone dispelling the guilt in the boys' hearts.
"By the way, I know this is completely random, but are you...and Mika...you know...dating?"
Both Mika and (Y/n) flushed a bright red, finding it hard to look each other in the eye. Yuu took notice of this, feeling slightly disheartened by the fact that they behaved in such a way.
"We're not," the girl replied.
"But why the sudden question?" asked Mika.
"*blush* N-no reason," Yuu answered briefly.
In truth, the two loved the vampire girl standing before them yet felt undeserving of her kind-hearted love. She remained in the realm of oblivion as to what her friends truly felt, still believing deep down that they despised her kind...in other words, her.
"(Y/n), we're leaving," Ferid exclaimed as he stood nimbly on the edge of the building.
"You..." Yuu stated angrily, gripping the handle of his sword.
"Oh my, am I ruining a tearful reunion- who did that to you?"
Ferid had taken notice of the dried blood on the girl's clothes. She played it off as nothing with a nonchalant laugh before casually taking a hold of her brother's arm.
"Niisan, let's go back."
"Don't avoid my question."
Suddenly, a purple-haired girl appeared, pointing her scythe towards the two.
"Yuu, why haven't you killed them yet?" she asked.
"Um...I..."
Within the blink of an eye, (Y/n) was by the male's side. She whispered three soft words into his ear before disappearing with Ferid and Mika, leaving no trace behind.
"Let's meet again."
Yuu remembered those words as he waited in anticipation for the next time he'd see his childhood friend and the love of his life again, unaware of Shinoa's disbelief and irritation.
"(Y/n), you shouldn't make empty promises," Ferid said as they quickly headed back.
"It wasn't an empty promise. He's our friend but we were separated, no thanks to a certain someone."
"Oh? Then do you hate me, my dear sister?"
"Stop asking her useless questions," Mika replied in her stead, never wanting to upset his cherished friend ever again.
