Reiko's POV
Putting my favourite book on the table, I turned towards my daughter, Ruka, as she handed me her homework and pointed to a difficult maths equation.
I smiled as she pushed her round glasses up with her forefinger, undoubtedly something she had learned from her father. Grabbing a spare piece of paper, I showed her an example that utilised the same concept, finding the curiosity behind her eyes quite cute.
"Thank you, mum. I'll make sure to pass this maths exam," she exclaimed.
"Don't push yourself too hard."
"As a daughter of mine, I fully expect you to get top marks," Reiji said as he walked into our room.
"Yes dad. Good night mum."
With that, she left without another word. Reiji took his glasses off, combing his hair back with his fingers, seemingly exhausted from work. I gasped as he pinned me down on our bed, his eyes glowing dangerously red, much more enchanting than my own red eyes.
Without wasting another second, he sank his fangs into my neck. I could feel the blood leaving my body; could hear him sucking me dry. I involuntarily shivered when he licked the two puncture wounds.
"Do you remember the first time we met?" he asked, his body still towering over mine.
~Flashback~
"What is this place?..."
"I don't know but father sent us here so it mustn't be bad," replied my sister, Yui.
"I hope you're right."
The front doors opened with a low creak in its hinges. Despite the fact that no one was on the other side, we headed inside, choosing to ignore the unease in our stomachs.
As soon as we stepped inside, a red-haired male took my sister by her arm before sliding his tongue down her neck. She blushed a tomato red, trying to shake off the male's tight hold.

I felt compelled to help her yet a small part of me couldn't help but find it amusing to see her all flustered. It was true that our father favoured her over me...and I was undeniably jealous of that.
"Reiko, get this guy off of me," she exclaimed.
"Hmm, do you want me as well?" he asked, smirking.
"...do whatever you wish with her."
"R-Reiko..."
"Well, that's certainly surprising," commented a dark-haired male with glasses.
"Who are you guys? Where are we?"
"My name's Reiji. The one holding your sister captive is Ayato. Of course, there are also four others named Shuu, Laito, Kanato and Subaru. You were sent here as sacrificial brides."
"Sacrificial...brides?"
I could only jump as a purple-haired boy began playing with my brown hair. He smiled in a strange way as I looked at him in the eye. Reiji pried his hand off me, his sharp eyes piercing my own.
"Do you happen to have a study here? I brought my school work along. I need to...pass my exams."
"Oh? You aren't worried about your situation but rather your grades?" asked Reiji.
"How about I teach you instead?" asked a guy with a fedora hat.
"No thanks."
Reiji began walking away but stopped just short of the frame leading into a hallway.
"Well? Are you coming or not?"
"*smiles* Of course."
I followed him down the twisting corridors of this mansion, taking note of the directions we travelled in and of the luxurious surroundings in which we walked.
Although any normal girl would have been extremely cautious about their current situation, I nonchalantly followed the male into his study.
Immediately upon closing the door, he had me pinned against the wall. His grip of my arms would be enough to bruise yet his enhanced strength did not surprise me as much as the next occurrence.

He licked my neck before slowly sinking his fangs into my neck, his sharp protruding features piercing my soft skin. A vampire...like the one told in the stories...they existed...
"You're rather compliant," he commented softly into my ear.
"It's the first time...someone has ever been honest with me and wanted me..."
~Flashback end~
"Of course I remember. How could I ever forget?..."
"Then...do you also remember how you fell in love?" he asked quietly.
"This time, let me ask you. Do you remember when you first fell for me?"
Reiji's POV
~Flashback~
Watching Reiko happily experiment with the various chemicals lining the shelves in my study, I felt a small smile forming on my face. Forcing that happiness to disappear, I maintained my stoic expression.
An unusual warmth spread inside me as she smiled in triumph once her theory proved to be correct. This mere human girl did not only willingly give me her blood, she also shared my interest and vast curiosity and determination in obtaining knowledge.
She was making me feel things I never imagined someone such as myself could experience. I refused to believe that it was what humans called 'happiness' yet there seemed to be no other explanation.
I was a cold vampire who only thought of himself. I was undoubtedly tired of doing things for the sake of pleasing others. Reiko seemed no different. It was obvious that she was jealous of her sister.
I was once like that. Nobody paid attention to 'the second child'. Perhaps that was why I felt more comfortable around her than anyone else. She shared my pain and suffering.
"Hey Reiji, would you be able to teach this to me?" she asked, her eyes wide with hope and curiosity.
"*sigh* If that is what you wish."
Despite how I behaved, I enjoyed tutoring her. She was different from those idiotic brothers of mine and certainly far more advanced than her good-for-nothing sister.
I risked a glance at the brown-haired girl beside me as I taught her the concepts. She...made me feel wanted. As unbelievable as it was, I believed that I may have perhaps...fallen in love.
~Flashback end~
"I never imagined myself to have fallen for a human girl..."
"But I'm glad I met you," she exclaimed with a happy smile.
It was as simple as that. I was...glad that I had met her as well. Pulling her in for a kiss, I licked her lower lip. As if preventing us from continuing, there was a timid knock on the door.
"Mum, dad, do you mind helping me with science?" Ruka asked.
"Of course we'll help, sweetie," Reiko replied.
I sent a quick glare to my wife but she just played it off with a teasing smile.
"So what's the question?"
"It's to do with chemistry," replied Ruka.
"Chemistry, huh?..."
"Is something the matter, dad?"
"No, it's nothing."
Chemistry...was it possible for that to have something to do with love?
